We have had several enjoyable meals here & always enjoy a gin & tonic or two. Only downside is that the pub is very small and can get very crowded quickly.

Having received a recommendation from Amanda at Natural Retreats in Richmond, we were looking forward to a nice Sunday meal after a long day walking the dales - all I can say is that we're already planning in our next visit despite leaving the restaurant only an hour ago!!! The atmosphere is super cosy, so many gorgeous little touches with... More

We had some nibbles to start- pork crackling with apple and sourdough bread. The crackling was nice but came unusually without salt -big crispy pieces I

On our way to Ambleside for the night and called here for lunch. This is our second visit to this lovely friendly pub. Have 3 or 4 real ales on and a selection of nice wines. Food menu is varied and traditional. We had the homemade soup and homemade pate to start. Both served well with lovely crunchy bread. Homemade... More

Been here before and it was every bit as good as usual. Called for lunch on way up to Lake District, food excelent, hearty and reasonably priced. Beer superb too, I'm a CAMRA member and so know good beer. Had a pint of Timothy Tailor's Ram Tam and it was spot on. Lovely warm solid fuel heater made the place... More

We visited on the last evening of our half term holiday. Initially the barman looked after us and took our order, explaining the steak evening choices well, looking after us pleasantly and taking our order. Which did arrive promptly initially. We had crispy squid starter, 2 flat iron 6oz steaks with pepper and blue cheese sauce. These were fantastic. We... More

We found this place as a lunch stop en route from Notts to Glasgow. Ordered 3 burgers (one veggie haloumi version and two pulled pork) and a chicken goujons children's meal. All were delicious. The chips were handcut with the skins on, the burgers were served on a brioche bun, the coleslaw was home-made too and the children's meals were... More

Happened to find this lovely pub with accommodation near a local Wedding venue. Booked all 3 rooms for the family. The rooms were modern, well fitted out and recently completed in a separate conversion at the back of the Pub, so no noise, which also meant nobody could hear my little Granddaughter crying at night! The Rooms were all accessed... More

My family and I (Mum, Dad, my sister & her fiance, me & my fiance) travelled up to Yorkshire from Kent last weekend to attend a wedding. On the Friday evening when we arrived we came here for dinner. First off, the beer selection is excellent, and just what was needed after a 300 mile drive. When we arrived the... More

Description
Nestled in the heart of a beautiful village, Gilling West - Richmondshire, bordering the Yorkshire Dales. Our vision is to blend the modern with the traditional and provide a platform to showcase the region... Local produce, local products, local people. Provenance and quality is key to everything we do. Serving excellent, locally produced artisan ales and craft lagers. Some of the world’s best bottled beers and excellent wines, from the finest growers. All expertly kept by our cellar-man. Our drinks are accompanied by a creative menu. All dishes are lovingly prepared using traditional, local ingredients of the highest quality...fully traceable to our producers. We believe a pub is about more than the food and drink it serves. It is about the welcome, comfortable surroundings, conversation, ambience & atmosphere... A pub is about family, friends, the people and the interaction of society around it. We said we wanted to showcase the region and its products, this includes our artists, sculptors, craft workers and musicians. Above the open fire and in the corner of our stable yard, you will find a diverse and distinctive range of artwork, photography, sculptures and crafts, epitomizing the regions talent. All of which can be purchased as a memento of your visit to the region... We want you to get together at ours & enjoy your stay!
