We ate here after a trip to the Farne Isles, particularly as Seahouses was getting very busy. The pub is a little off the beaten track, but only ten minutes or so from Seahouses and worth finding! The outdoor space was very pleasant, with tables well distanced from each other. We downloaded the app, and ordered our lunch easily. We both chose crab sandwiches, which came with coleslaw and chips - all top rate. The waitresses were pleasant and punctual, and our bill, with soft drinks and coffees, came to £30, including a small tip. It was a sunny day, and there was a pleasant atmosphere in the garden. Many people brought their dogs, and perhaps this is well known as a dog friendly pub. We are cat people, so we wouldn't know! Definitely worth a second visit, when we are in the area.

We recently visited the Craster Arms for a drink in the beer garden, we could not get the app to work so had to venture inside to order drinks. Very congested in the door area with staff coming in and out with drinks and meals and customers queuing. However there were hand sanitiser stations readily available and floor markings to guide you where to stand. During our weeks holiday we had booked the restaurant the week prior for 3 people. We were shown to a very small round table through in one of the back rooms. We were actually sat at the door of a fire escape and the fire escape sign had been removed. That aside nearly every table in the restaurant was full. We ordered via the app this time successfully, we had mussels as a starter and we were not provided with a bowl for shells, but to be fair there was not much room for it on our small table. We then had our main courses, scampi, burger and meat pie, where was the meat, I could only find 3 pieces of meat, I would rename this gravy pie, this has been on the menu for the last 7/8 years whilst I have been visiting this area, maybe time for a change. We have eaten in this restaurant on many occassions and did not have an issue, however on this occassion we felt it was a bit slap dash and the table we were given was definetely too small, felt a bit like they were trying to squeeze as many people in as possible due to the current constraints. I do fully appreciate the industry has had to close for a lengthy period of time and they need to get back to some sort of normality but saftey must come first. On our way out of the restaurant we actually had to fight our way out of approx 20 people wating for drinks or tables, not social distancing at all. Whatever happened to one way in one way out. We will return in the future to the beer garden but not for food sadly. Also regular cleaning could be done on the tables in the beer garden as our table on a susequent evening was filthy. 😢

We love holidaying in Beadnell and dining at The Craster Arms is always a must. The pub/restaurant is very dog-friendly. We took our new dog with us on Saturday evening (19th September). It was his first experience in a pub/restaurant environment and unbeknown to us, he showed definite indications of fear anxiety towards other dogs in the allocated dog friendly area of the restaurant. We were not prepared to spoil the enjoyment of other diners and so were on our way to leave when the staff kindly offered us a quiet area in the bar to dine, despite the venue being fully booked. Nothing was too much trouble and service was delivered with a smile and a genuine concern for the experience of the customer. Michael and his team are an absolute pleasure and a shining example of going the extra mile. The food is excellent, served promptly and piping hot. The menu represents great value for money and you absolutely get what you pay for. We were so impressed that we booked for Sunday lunch the next day and for our evening meals every night for the following week. We have nothing but the highest praise for the management and staff.

visited the restaurant this evening feel that aggrieved about the food had to put a review on shocking mains. I had garlic prawns for starter and my wife had garlic bread which were all great the stella was a great pint also. The mains came out my pork and chips which I paid 16.50 for was tasteless the pork pieces were chewy and just warm to say the least I had to ask for gravy as there was no sauce was plain dry & my wifes steak pie was burnt if I was the chef I would of been embarrassed to serve both meals. Looking at the reviews I think the main chef must not have been in tonight and brought someone off the street 😂 My 4 year old sons fish fingers and chips was the best out the 3. I have to say the staff were spot on the girl who served us said she would change the pie and I just ate mine as I was starving I am sure she would of changed mine if I had asked. She knocked 20% off the bill. The towers next door we couldn't get in there was to busy I know why.

We are very sorry to learn that your dinner with us did not live up to your expectations. We do work hard to deliver an experience our customers expect, unfortunately on this occasion it was not one of our regular chefs, this has been dealt with. I can only offer you my most sincere apologies if the food offered that evening was not to the standard you should rightly expect from us. We would like the chance to turn this around and would like to invite you back for a meal at The Craster Arms - free of charge, please get in touch if you would like to arrange this.

Having visited this place numerous times before we were really excited to come back. I couldn’t even get past the girl who I could barely understand to speak with someone else but so disappointed with our experience today. Don’t get me wrong I totally understand the current situation with COVID and we got that before we got there. I even had a text mid afternoon with the menu telling me what I could eat, how to order and pay and that got us even more looking forward to our family meal and we’d all picked what we wanted. My issue is WHY offer a booking system if you can’t even honour the bookings you have at a rough time near to where people booked? We booked for 7.30 and were stood in a queue for nearly 25 mins. At 7.45 I managed to track a member of staff down and asked what was happening. That was after me having to find someone and not being kept updated by any of the staff around. The response was the queue was for the booked tables and it would be at least another 30 min wait for the table and then an hour on top for food, meaning eating at 9.15pm with our young daughter would have been far too late. When I asked what the issue was the response was ‘’we didn’t know it was going to be so busy tonight’’ Surely the whole point of a booking system is so you know how busy it is??! The beer garden was practically full with a few spare tables so I can only assume a load of walk ins have been taken meaning that people who had actually booked walked away, as we did. We were not alone in doing this either. Really disappointed with the whole response I got. Please don’t offer a booking system if you can’t actually give the booked people a table.

Prebooked here for Sunday lunch and it didnt disappoint. Tables are spaced out appropriately and plastic screens up where people would walk by. They have a sunday lunch deal 2 courses for £15.50 so we started with prawn cocktail and had roast beef with a massive yorkshire pudding. We were too full for pudding. Pub filled up quite quickly and there were tables outside as well, really prompt friendly service. Only downside, I would have ordered from the sunday menu on the app recommended by the restaurant but that menu didnt seem to be on there. I can see using the app for the normal menu to order and pay would be very beneficial and a great idea.

Food was nothing special here. Fillet steak rare when requested medium and chewy in my opinion not a £28 cut of meat. Sent back and replated with fresh chips and onion rings etc however took a very long time to come. Slider combo for one child- no complaints, nuggets for the other- okay, rib eye - not tender either. Left dissatisfied and glad we used the help to eat out scheme as would not have wanted to pay £85 for the meal at all. Would not go back again unfortunately

I really wanted to like this place. A lovely setting, a friendly welcome, an efficient ordering system with a discount code for 'Eat out to help out' and I was reassured by all staff wearing face coverings. Our food took a little while to come , but that in my eyes is no bad thing as it means it hasn't just been put in the microwave! My partner ordered steak pie with chips and enjoyed his meal and my daughter enjoyed her sliders from the kids' meal. However, my younger daughter ordered macaroni cheese which although tasted nice was certainly not worth £7:50, it didn't even come with garlic bread or a salad. My own meal was the worst of all in fact I was unable to eat it. I ordered the prawn tagliatelle but it had so much chilli in it that my mouth was on fire, and I do like chilli. I tried to chose bits of pasta that had no chilli on but it was still spicy so I'm guessing the whole thing was doused in chilli oil. A dish needs to be balanced and I certainly do not expect this level of chilli with a tagliatelle ( maybe a vindaloo!) without some sort of warning. A check back was made five minutes or so into the meal and when I told the young guy that I couldn't eat mine as it was too spicy he simply shrugged his shoulders and said he thought it was spicy too when he had had it , then said 'sorry about that ' and walked off. He had clearly no idea what to do if anybody raised an issue so why ask??? I came home and had two slices of toast instead. I certainly will not visit again until there an improvement in customer service.

Visited today for lunch in the beer garden. Nice setting in the sunshine and the app to order from the garden worked well. There was a delay in drinks arriving and no way to order sandwiches on the app, although they were shown on the main menu as available from 12.00-5.00. Food got mixed reviews - the steak pie was dried out and the ‘steak’ was poor quality but chips were nice, while liver and bacon with mash was lovely. One way system to enter the pub was not working at all and no details were taken for track and trace. Staff were not wearing masks and garden tables were not cleaned between guests. One table had two dogs on it while we were there. Didn’t stay for desert as £7.50 for a slice of chocolate cake seemed a bit excessive. Would not rush back.

A bit nervous in the current situation as we hadn’t eaten out since March. We chose to sit outside but had to go in to order. The tables were almost full but were a metre apart , it was early afternoon so not the busiest time but there was no problem at the bar with any queuing . We chose the fish & chips , they were tasty and nicely presented , a little more that we would normally pay for this meal but we were in a seaside town and the fish was definitely large as advertised.

Visited for our first family meal out since March - much looked forward to as a dual NHS worker household. Used the app to order which was fine, estimated food serving time was 40 minutes - would be helpful if this was provided prior to the order being placed on the app. Unfortunately, it took 35 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We chased this up twice with different waiting staff - it was eventually sorted. Food took 55 minutes to arrive. It was good but the attention shown by the waiting staff was poor in our view, especially considering the cost. Appreciate the sector is having to adapt but we’re still waiting for our ketchup now!!

We've not visited this pub since last year. The food use to be good quality at good prices. Ordering online was absolutely awful, don't know why that's in place, the waitress came to our table to tell us to order online, she was stood right there next to us, took her longer to say what she had to say than it would of done taking our order. The kids meals was ok, but far to expensive at £7.50 each, the steak pies was awful, mostly gravey in crust, no meaty chunks, burnt & dry with a tiny blob of mash, we was given a tiny portion of veg to share between 2 adults, not ideal for £14 each. I wanted steak but wasn't paying £28. Wont be going back!!!

1) Online ordering facility This is in place to encourage and promote social distancing in these difficult times for pubs and restaurants, if you had asked to place an order with a waitress we would have happily done this for you but the waitress in question did take time to try and explain how to use the ordering system. We will point out to you we are in a global pandemic and trying our best to operate safely during these times THAT IS WHY IT IS IN PLACE. It has been used widely by so many of our customers now who think it is a great and safe way to order and dine with us, but it is optional! 2) Food We’re pleased the kids meals were ok. Our pricing is fair, inline with all other venues and all our kids meals are home made to order. Our pie is pretty famous and ordered by many but we appreciate mistakes can happen especially in a busy kitchen with reduced (Covid safe) chefs We only wish you had highlighted this to a staff member so the mistake could be rectified. If you were hungry and wanted more veg or mash all you had to do was ask, (we note your image of the vegetables was after you had been digging in so not entirely accurate) we think our portions are quite adequate but always happy to give more. 3)Steak price Our 8oz fillet steak is £28 - 10oz ribeye is £22 this includes beer battered onion rings, chips, grilled tomato and salad... no extras to pay for here! If you can find it cheaper elsewhere (even in Scotland) you can have it for free. Regardless of all of these issues we realise you left unhappy So this makes us very disappointed We will look at all your comments to see if there’s anything we can gain from them at all in and implement any changes we feel necessary.

On arrival for our pre-booked table we found the restaurant packed with no social distancing either in the queues for tables or at the bar and in the tables closely arranged together. Our drinks order was taken as we sat down. After being seated it took us a few minutes for us to realise that our table had not been cleaned from the previous diners. After prompting a waiter quickly remedied the error. We chose and enjoyed the steak pie and fish and chips mains. The fish was excellent but so big that few would ever finish. With a bottle of wine the bill came to £48. Surprisingly all diners were directed to pay at the busy bar where social distancing was not possible. Unfortunately, the excellent food was let down by owners more interested in maximising income than applying generally accepted covid precautions.

Firstly may I say how much our party all enjoyed the food we ate on Monday. However our visit was marred by the complete lack of observation of any Covid 19 rules and regulations. Contrary to the guidelines published on your website there was not a specific entry and exit door to enable a one way system. People had to access a QR code at the door which caused a queue with no social distancing guidelines. Once inside we had to queue near the bar whilst waiting to be shown to our table. The bar area was extremely crowded with people standing at the bar ordering drinks on one side and on the other a large number of people sat around small tables. No chance of social distancing here again! Our table was in the far back room and there certainly wasn’t the required 1m between tables. To be honest it looked as though you had crammed as many tables in as possible to take advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out campaign. This all made us feel quite uncomfortable and certainly an experience we would not wish to repeat. It seems we are not the only ones to have had this experience and if we had read some of the reviews on—line we certainly would not have booked.

We have been coming to The Craster Arms for years now and i have to say the food has always been top quality along with the service. This time we came shortly after covid restrictions were lifted and there were 7 in our party. We were shown to our table and told that we weren't allowed to order at the bar, there was no table service and we had to use the new ordering app. The app they have chosen is awful, it is difficult to use and it takes a very long time to populate the order in full, then making payment via the app is even worse as it kept declining. It took us around half an hour just to place our order. We had been sat around 45 minutes before our drinks arrived. In that time an elderly party of three came and sat on the table next to us. They received table service and within 5 minutes they had their order taken by the waitress and subsequently their drinks and food arrived way before ours did. When the food did come it was excellent again and as usual the high standards we are used to in this pub were met, but the visit was very much tarnished by our experience with the ordering app. If they get rid of that and just go back to their usual excellent table service, im sure the experience would be back upto a 5/5!! If you do go, get table service!!
