Above-average Chinese restaurant in the main street. Nothing special but - more importantly - absolutely nothing wrong. Efficient staff and good value.

we booked a table for 1830 hrs as we had a toddler with us in our party of eight. Our food order was taken within 15 minutes of arriving, however the starters took an hour to appear. They were cleared away and we were then...given hot plates and waited in anticipation for our main meals. They did not follow close by and the plates were stone cold by the time we got fed. By 2040hrs we had to ask where our main meals were and we had a fractious tired and hungry toddler to contend with. When they did arrive at 2045 some 2hrs 15 minutes after our booking we could tell they had bern rushed as they were poorly cooked. My peppers in my dish were virtually raw and more than al dente, by this time we had had enough and our family meal was ruined. The fall back excuse was “ sorry we r busy” but it’s a saturday night and this restaurant has had busier evenings, poor poor poor, don’t think we will be back.More
Called in on the off chance about 5.30pm on a Saturday. Though based on the town centre, it's easy to miss as the restaurant is upstairs accessed via a single stairway. We were surprised to see so many diners there at that time but can...see why. Kids food was good. Noodles are more authentic than bog standard take away and tasted better. Would recommend the seafood hotpot. Not something that usually shows up on Chinese Restaurant menus. I think it was a Taiwanese dish. Service excellent and efficient. Clearly a popular place in Berwick and we would all happily return.More
My daughter and I were seated in the corner of the restaurant behind fake greenery which obscured our view of the restaurant, there were better tables available but we sat where we were asked to. We waited a long time for for our food around...fifty minutes it was not worth the wait ! My food was very average and unfortunately my daughters chow mien was burnt so she could eat very little of it . I explained to the waiter it was burnt and he said he would let the chef know but offered no apology. We went to pay and were asked if everything was ok with our meal , so I explained we were disappointed because my daughters food was burnt ! The lady made no apology in fact she said absolutely nothing and just took my payment! Why bother asking if everything was alright if you are going to completely ignore your customer ! This was a disappointing meal out, bad table ,long wait for burnt food ! and poor customer service.More
We arrived and got given a table in the corner behind a fake bush that restricted our view of the whole restaurant. Ordered drinks they came fast then we ordered our food, we waited 45 for our mains from the time we ordered. The rice...and mix veg was ok but the chow mein tasted burnt and had no flavour. At the end we told the waitress and they didn’t even apologise. Overall not a great experience.More
the food was OK . quality and quantity fine. very good menu choice . But its the service that lets them down. prices fine. Could be a very good restaurant. with better staff service. please try harder next time .
Great Chinese, good service no complaints at all. Well priced recommend and will return next time we are in Berwick-upon-Tweed
Wide selection on the menu. Food was delicious, lovely starter selection and main courses were well flavoured. Nice decor and atmosphere. Service was efficient. Would visit again.
Good food but very poor service, although only people in and pre booked the service was slow and food confused and missed, when asked the waiter was quite rude as if we were an inconvenience. Food on the whole tasty and good and plenty off...it just delayed, slow and service that let it downMore
First we were ushered to sit behind the hedge in the far left corner, and forgotten about, when drinks finally came my husband's was only a third of a pint , when he asked for it to be toped up they said they don't do...that , food was practically thrown at us , the hedge was getting near and near as the next table sat down. making it very cramped. Food arrived was all very basic. Curry was just a packet of curry sauce thrown over lump's of chicken, teriyaki chicken was just a chicken burger with sauce over . noodles were just a packet of super noodles with some bean sprouts mixed in, rice was a stodge of rice in a small pot . We will not be going back for sure.More
So went for a meal it was lovely ordered Saki was told very abruptly by our server we don’t do it it’s Japanese. So why do you still advertise this on your web page and to fair you do sell Japanese dishes
Booked for family for new year. Staff wearing masks and found them very difficult to understand, apart from barman. Starters and 2 of the mains were good. 2 other mains tasted of literally nothing, at all. Also had to constantly attract waiters attention to get...drinks. Missed sales opportunity for them. Jury's out, may try again but certainly not going to rush back.More
We were uncertain where to go, we normally eat Indian when we go out but decided at the last minute to have a Chinese for a change. Not having been to the Royal Garden before we were quite excited. Walking in we were greeted by...a young girl wearing a mask ( fair enough ) and also a young lad ( again wearing a mask ) . It was difficult to hear what they were saying because of the masks and Christmas music in background. Because of the masks we could not tell if they were glad to see us or not, it's nice to be greeted with a smile but not to worry. But we definitely got the impression they didn't want to be there. The restaurant itself is spotless and so very oriental ( yes it's a Chinese I know ) decorated really well. The menu is quite extensive but we finally decided and put our orders in, it came freshly cooked and so very tasty ( well done chef ) and decent size portions. My other half never eats all her curry. After our sweets we asked if she could take what was left of her curry away with us, as we always do. Upon inspection of the bill we were astonished to see that they charge a £1 for a 'box' ( takeaway container) , never EVER have we been charged at any restaurant we have used in the past for a takeaway container. It didn't spoil our night but it did not sit easy with us. Next time it's back to the Indian. Food....very good Surroundings....very good Service ......questionable Charge for "box" ......rip off !!More
Ordered my food and a drink and I immediately noticed staff lacked politeness and customer service skills. Food arrived all very nice then someone on next table accidently knocked my drink over which swamped my food and soaked me then they apologised abruptly and left...leaving me to deal with the situation. Restaurant staff had no intention of helping me sort the table mess out, I was quite upset and appalled at the whole situation. I had to approach staff for help. No sympathy, assistance or apology from the restaurant staff which shows their lack of experience. I will never return to this poorly ran establishment.More
