Had lunch there today and the staff member who seated us had an attitude that seemed to show we were an inconvenience, no smiles or any kind of welcome. We ordered a spicy pork rib starter which to be fair was nice, but the main...course...Goat curry and a burger had obviously been under a warming grill for a while before they served it as both were very dry, the curry had a skin formed on the top, the cheese on the burger was like leather and the burger tough and dry. Despite most of the food being left on the plates when a second waitress collected the plates she did not ask if there was a problem with the food. Okay...we could have complained at the time but it was clear from there slack attitude that they would not care, so it is easier not to go there in the future as we didn't feel at all welcome anyway.More

As part of our ongoing commitment to the eat out to help out scheme; we booked in at the Greendale Oak having learned our lesson from turning up without a booking a week earlier. It was just as busy on our return, the 1st thing...that struck me was how tastefully done out the old pub has been and secondly that it was part of the Everards chain which was a good omen as their places always seem to do great food and beer. I'm a complete sucker for a Souffle so there was no contest for the Twice Baked Mushroom & Goats Cheese Souffle which transpired to be every bit as good as it sounded. The nipper ordered a burger from the childs menu which was was served up in an adult sized portion and was far to good/ wasted on a rugrat. My Veggie burger for the main course was decent but the fish and chips we ordered was a bit of a let down as it was fairly bland tasting and average. The lofty standards returned agian with the desserts, Sticky Toffee pudding in particular stole the show and proved the family favourite even under fierce competition from the much touted, reigning champion that is the Chocolate Brownie. Apart from the bland fish & chips the only other negative aspect was the lack of wifi and the presence of a lipstick mark on my pint glass. Before you ask I didn't complain as I cant stand the thought of perfectly good beer being poured down the drain. Finally it's not a proper eat out to help out review without a cost based boast; and sure enough for x3 beers, x1 starter, x3 mains and x2 desserts the sum of £36.75, it almost felt like we were leaving without paying.More

We stayed nearby The Greendale Oak recently and managed to have 2 trips for dinner. We are a family of 4 with 2 small kids and there were plenty of options for all of us. Would really highly recommend this pub to anyone. Staff were...so helpful and friendly. Food was superb. And when our 3 year old managed to trip and hit her head the staff were all great to see if they could help in anyway. Thank you all.More

We visited with friends for a meal and a get together, we were seated outside and ordered drinks. When Our food arrived it was poor. I had meatball Pizza which seemed to have one meatball split over the whole pizza, served in a paella dish...for some reason. Wife had chicken with veg which was tasteless. Service seemed to be very slow and lack lustre we used to like coming here but will be giving it a miss for a while.Very expensive for what you get.More

Booked a table for our family of four on a Sunday, early evening. Great service from our young female waitress - good knowledge of beers and the food. She went and wrote down all the vegetarian pizza options for our daughter as these weren’t listed...on the menu. The rest of us had a Sunday dinner and they were great - generous and tasty and lovely veg served separately. My only constructive criticism would be to please have the different menus on your website - we had looked at your website before coming and our teenagers were looking forward to the burgers, however these weren’t on the Sunday menu and they were initially disappointed. They did thoroughly enjoy the meals they then ordered but it would be good to list all your menus online please. Regardless, we had a great meal with great service and will definitely return if we’re in the area again. Thank you!More

I’ve visited here a few times, the food always good, but sometimes the service lacking - guess as a rural pub it’s hard to get staff. But today, great food and great service, absolutely spot on can’t fault the place. Credit to the staff, chefs...and managers. Great pub in a great location My wife and I had the gorgeous chateaubrind, the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten a lot of steaks over the last 35 years !! The waitress , although I didn’t get her name, was knowledgeable and attentive- she mentioned she worked there 3 years and is an absolute credit to the place. We will definitely return and recommend- please keep up the high standard - best place to eat and drink around this area xMore

Lovely venue but dreadful service. Husband checked with waitress if an online dish was available as not listed on the menu. She checked with the kitchen and assured us it was, so he ordered it. A completely different meal came, when questioned we were informed...they ‘don’t do it’ !! We had two choices, eat the meal that was offered or re-order and eat alone while the others in our party had finished. No apology for the mix up, still charge the full amount for a meal we didn’t order. Food was under par, so we were disappointed with the recommendations we had been given.More

This was our 2nd visit since lockdown . The first time I put it down to covid & hospitality trying to get back on their feet. Visited again 14 August and was disappointed the menu choice is limited with a choice of just 3 starters...which are quite randomn choices. The tables are so close together it's hard to get in and out. Someone in our party had mixed grill £27 which is expensive no way was the meal worth that. I had a cheese lovers burger, which was very plain with just a cheese slice no onions gherkins etc, the corn on the cob looked old, hence I didn't eat it. This pub used to be one of our favourites but sadly I feel it has detoriated drastically.More

I’ve not seen your review on trip advisor and as it was in May at the height of Covid restrictions, I can only assume that feelings, anxiety and apprehension were at the greatest levels, and your trip to this place wasn’t... More
