Beautiful food well worth waiting for as cooked to order and comes out hot , on hot plates too which I like. Can’t stand lukewarm food on cold plates . All the food we ordered was lovely and nicely presented. Couldn’t fault it, my only...slight gripe that I have would be the noise from a large table of women as it’s a small room it is pretty noisy , but that wouldn’t prevent me returning.More

We booked as a group of 4 after having really enjoyed our first visit pre Christmas, see separate review. Sadly not as enjoyable as service was slow, although still very pleasant, certain dishes were not available and sadly food not cooked as well. Both lamb...dishes served were overcooked, despite being advised initially that they would be pink. The hake with orzo was dry, suspect this had been waiting for other main dishes to be served at the same time so consequently the fish was dry? We didn't make a fuss at the time as we were out with friends and did not want to spoil the evening but we're a little disappointed. Still as excellent choice of dishes but overall an average experience.More

This was our first visit to The Red Gate for a pre Christmas meal with friends, 4 of us in total. What a lovely surprise, warm, welcoming and excellent home cooked food. Portion size was generous, the choice phenomenal, there was so much to choose...from we were spoilt for choice. Fresh ingredients and well cooked. Definitely won't be our only visit, can't wait to go back. Would recommend booking in advance as they are very busy. A lovely evening treat, would recommend to anyone, great to see a pub doing so well, all down to their hard work and commitment.More

For a Golden Wedding Ceremony what do you want? Quality Service? Quality Food? A room big enough to host 30 of your nearest and dearest? Then, do like we did, and visit The Redgate in Mansfield, Notts. Knowing our big event was on the horizon...we did a recce and were amazed by the high standard set by Amy and her team. I visited again as part of a school reunion and was delighted that standards were still as high. On our big night we were not disappointed, everything went like clockwork and the food and service were out of this world. Thanks to all involved in making our evening something special. lovely family friendly pub, best in Mansfield by far!(and surrounding areas) food is to die for, the experience is friendly and up beat and the best of both worlds for people who like a more traditional pub atmosphere or a more exclusive restaurant and bar...setting. the bar staff are amazing and Jay looks after his customers. prices are very affordable also. highly recommend!More

You simply can’t go wrong here. Ok … if you want bistro exotic food … you can go wrong ! But for simple home cooked delicious food , excellent professional staff and top rate landlord who goes the extra mile. Came here last time the...first week after lockdown stopped and it was a sad place , wondering if it would survive … but survive it has ! We re-visited the Red Gate after many years and found the food very pleasant. Lovely mushrooms on sour dough starters and various mains incl plaice, lamb, seafood, rump streak and gammon ... all well prepared and tasty. Food for 6 with coffee was about £140....Pinot Grigio was about £15 a bottle. No real ale on offer which is a bit sad for a pub! Worth a visitMore

Four of us went tonite to remember a very dear friend whose birthday it was. The food was excellent and the desserts were fabulous. The service was excellent and they did not rush us away and the lady serving was very understanding of the occasion....I would definitely recommend this place and excellent value for money too.More

Had a lovely Valentines meal here. Compliments to the chef the food was lovely. Best steak pie I’ve ever had. Only a small pub but made a great effort to decorate the room and make it feel special. Thank you so much x
