Just spent a wonderful Friday/ Saturday at the Beetle and Wedge. What a beautiful building, amazing location and the food and service, outstanding. We went with friends so a total of 6 of us and we also booked rooms in the newly decorated / renovated cottage. The rooms were very well appointed, extremely comfortable and lovely little touches - Nespresso coffee, gin and tonic popcorn and White Company toiletries. Arrived late lunch time and stayed for dinner - all food, drink and service outstanding. My only negative (sorry), the side dishes need to be just a little larger as quite expensive for little dishes. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team and whilst all CV19 secure, did not impact the general ambiance of the evening and so lovely to see so many people enjoying their evening meals. Breakfast in the morning was outstanding, more than ample and again service with a smile. Many congratulations to Ben and the team, a winning formula and very much looking forward to a repeat visit shortly, indeed already recommended to friends.

We dropped by for lunch on the second day after re-opening and can echo other positive recommendations. The refurbishment has been done intelligently, adding space but not changing the overall character of the building. Very welcome is a bigger seating area outside by the river. The menu is not fussily extensive which is fine by me and our meal choices were tasty and the waiting staff attentive and welcoming. Dishes are sensibly priced and offer good value.

The Thames Path ploughs straight through the outside area of this curiously-named pub, so we felt like we should definitely stop for a drink whilst walking it on a Monday afternoon. The pub is furnished to an exceptionally high standard - very modern bathroom fittings, an airy indoor space, and we chose to sit on the outdoor tables less than a metre from the waters edge. Although definitely 'gastro' in style and in a lovely location the drinks (and the rest of the menu) were fairly priced for what they were. We also had the entertaining sight of watching a inexperienced boat try and dock next to the pub, it took them a variety of approaches and locations to our (slightly guilty) amusement. Will certainly visit again for food when in the area.

On the 30th September 2020, there were 5 of us who went to Beetle and Wedge Moulsford on Thames for lunch. Three of us including me ordered a drink called St Clement (a mix of orange juice and bitter lemon) and the other two ordered just mango juice. The St. Clement drink came in a slim glass, we looked at each other thinking a small drink. Normally this drink comes in a larger glass, but we didn’t think much of it until we received the bill. To our surprise the St Clement drink was charged as two drinks. The orange juice at a price of £2.85, the bitter lemon at a price of £2.20. Total £ 5.05 for a small soft drink, I normally have this St Clement drink in pubs/restaurants and it normally cost about £2-£3. Whereas the mango juice at a price of £2.85 in a larger glass is reasonable. I questioned this with the waiter, the excuse was they don’t have orange juice in a carton, so they opened bottles instead. We paid the bill instead and afterwards we all said we should had refused to pay £5.05 for such a small drink. We felt we had been ripped off and felt disgusted that they are charging people such a high price for a soft drink, this is more expensive than their a glass of wine costing £4.90. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to visit this place. Overall we felt this place is only thinking of just taking money in.

I have visited the B&W on a number of 'special' occasions over, maybe, 25 years and to visit the re-incarnated boathouse was nothing short of a major treat. The extensive refurb is a great success and the new 'elevated' view of the river makes the very best use of the location. The food was tip top as was the service - it is a great achievement that they have , after only 4 days, got everything 'sorted' for what I imagine is intended to be a soft opening. The owner was very attentive and genuinely keen to hear our comments. He has a 5* location, a 5* star building, 5* star staff and great food which is the most important element - I'll be back!

Party of five for Sunday lunch. Went following a recommendation and we were not disappointed. They have only been open for a few weeks and the refurb is lovely and totally in keeping with the old character of the place. A great selection of food on the menu to cater for the majority of mainstream diets - and all reasonably priced. Stunning location and staff were all super friendly and helpful. Tables were set at acceptable distances apart, with screens to separate. Felt very Covid safe. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

We dined as a family of 2 adults 2 children, we were all made to feel very welcome. We had most recently eaten out together for a special occasion the St Petroc’s Bistro and we all agreed that the Beetle was the hands down winner on every front. The service was excellent from the consistent waiting staff ( thanks to Tori) to the super prompt bar staff and the food was perfect, nothing was too much trouble. The refurbishment has made the most of a wonderful location creating an atmospheric and inviting dining space and I am sure the Beetle reincarnated will be a huge success.

Lovely location just a real shame about the service and the food. Starters were all out at different times and they were disappointing. Mains took a long time to come out and we had to ask on numerous occasions only for the waiter to reconfirm what we had ordered around 25 minutes after we had finished the starters. The empty plates just sat there for 20 minutes plus after we had finished and they walked past at least 5 times so could have cleared. Overall a rubbish experience so will not be going again which is a shame as the location is good, it is close to home and we eat out on a regular basis each week. Very rarely write reviews but given the cost for a quick lunch with only a couple of alcoholic drinks it was somewhere i would never visit again!

A delicious lunch (my 4th meal at the Beetle) today with 4 girlfriends. All of us impressed with the delicious food - smoked salmon, thai soup, smoked salmon - beautifully presented, followed by four sea bass, lamb rump, perfect new potatoes and vegetables. As ever a beautiful view right on tha Thames. Great service from charming staff. I've enjoyed every coffee, starter, main and pudding. Sunday lunch has been great too. There again tmrw with five family for Sunday lunch.

Roast beef looked & tasted like stewed boot leather. Roast potatoes had the taste & texture of old tennis balls. The starters, apart from the goats cheese, were pretty poor also Large number of young waiting staff (ignoring customers & chatting to each other) - so service poor also. Never have we seen so many staff - doing so little in a restaurant. The restaurant is in a great location by the river & we have had some good meals there over the summer - but the Sunday lunch we had there yesterday was very poor.

A super spot by the river. We have liked the restaurant for years and wondered how it would be under new ownership and the recent refurbishment and we were not disappointed. We have now been back 3 times since it reopened, at the end of August, and will be taking different friends there next weekend. The service, ambience and food has been excellent on each visit, trying out different dishes each time, and have been told that from time the menu will be changed which is pleasing.

As avid fans of the new B&W, having been 4 or 5 times, we were soo disappointed with our Sunday lunch experience. 4 of us, great staff made us comfortable and relaxed, but sadly all went pear shape there after. Good starters, but the roasts were a real let down,2 beef and 2 pork. Beef was tough and over cooked, the pork had no crackling, but the portion size was a joke! We thought we had been given the kids menu portions. Half a carrot, teaspoon of cabbage and cauliflower cheese, really ! 2 roasties! Not expensive ingredients and a integral part of a good Sunday roast. Get it sorted, Sunday lunch in my humble opinion is THE day of the week to get right

This was our first visit to this pub and we couldn’t have been happier - we will certainly be frequenting more often. We dined at the front of the pub in the more causal area as we had our dog with us, it’s a lovely spacious area with an attractive well stocked bar, despite not being in the main dining room we and we didn’t feel any less important. The potted crab with avocado was a delicious starter - the crab was beautifully fresh and not over seasoned. My main course was pearl barley with wild mushrooms and cauliflower popcorn, it was a beautifully presented dish and portion wise perfect, there is nothing more off putting than a mountain of food on a plate. The fish and chips that my husband had was excellent, the mark of a good chef if they can produce the perfect piece of battered fish. My son had Moules frittes - he is a coeliac and they had very nice gluten free bread as well. A Very generous cheese board with gluten free biscuits finished the meal off. We left feeling very satisfied but not stuffed, and the quality and flavours of the food is a nod to good management and a good chef. The staff were very attentive and respect full Covid protection measures. A big thank you to them all. Really well done, there are so many average pubs out there but you have nailed it.

I've now eaten for the second time in a month at the newly refurbished Beetle and Wedge. This time I went with my husband and son and was delighted that it was just as good as last time. The scallops and potted crab were perfectly cooked and presented and the lamb was stunning. The crispy skin on the sea bream was the best I've had ever. The service was attentive and rapid. Can't recommend it highly enough, a brilliant start.

Years ago the Bettle and Wedge was one of our favourite places to take friends for a smart dinner. Unfortunately it went through a rough patch, and we found that every time we went it was somewhat of a disappointment, culminating in a bad experience whereupon we decided not to go again. I'm thrilled to report, however, that after recommendation from a friend we were back last night. The new owners have done significant refurbishment, have upped the game, and the Beetle and Wedge is back on our list! We were there last night for my wife's birthday dinner, and the evening was lovely. Friendly and attentive staff, efficient service, and great food. Spoiled for choice on the menu, so we will have to go back for the options we didn't choose! Oh, and about the food - out of the 25 or so items on the menu, only three of them weren't available with a gluten free option, and this was all clearly marked - such a treat to have the choice of pretty much the whole menu, without faffing about with the allergy booklet!
