Visited one Thursday when we knew the pizza and glass of wine deal was on. The pizzas were amazing and the garlic bread was very good too. In the end we couldn't resist dessert and had treacle sponge and Belgian waffle. Food was divine and can't wait to go back.

We were made very welcome here. Our muddy boots didn't cause offence and one of the pub cats warmed my lap for me. The food was hearty and home cooked, especially the fresh pizzas, and the on tap beers and ciders were all that could be desired. Great little pub to break your walk in if you are meandering round... We last ate here over 30 years ago. A friend visiting from Germany wanted a typical Sunday lunch in the country and my husband and I booked the Red Lion, having looked at the website and consulted Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Having had a walk round the village and over to the next village of Middle Aston, we... More

Really good pub restaurant. The pizzas are exceptional and the service is warm but not at all creepy. Not necessarily a destination restaurant but way better than we could have hoped for from such an unpretentious place.

We had Nachos to share for a starter; hot with loads of tasty dips and melted cheese. Steak main was very good, chicken pie was a little crisper than I like on the outside but filling was good. Both deserts were fine although we were too full to appreciate them. Real ale was good. Staff were very pleasant and cost... More

A little way from Lower Heyford Wharf and the Oxford Canal, walkable in good light though limited footpath, this was a very good evening meal. I had one of their enormous pizzas, top quality, and my wife had a very good sea bream. The young waitress was busy but attentive and deserved her tip. I also liked the side room... More

I chose this pub to meet a lady on a blind date. It was a place situated somewhere between where each of us lived. I have not been here before, so was very pleasantly surprised to find this gem. A really lovely old pub, well looked after and a welcoming smile from the lovely barmaid. The restaurant was completely empty... More

Was there with a friend and I had Nachos for starter while he had king prawns. Both were delicious. We then had pizza and an Angus burger. Both were extraordernary good.
