We visited recently for the first time, for an overnight stay in order to meet up with a friend. We were really impressed with everything about the George. It's full of character with original beams everywhere and big open fireplaces ( must be fabulous in the winter) Some of the upstairs floors slope quite a bit which didn't worry us... More

To the weary traveller (even if they are local) this is a small oasis of welcome escape. Good beers, good company and a genuinely welcome staff. Basically - everything that you would want in a decent country pub.

We visited The George as we were planning a walk nearby. For some reason I had only anticipated a sandwich lunch but as soon as we walked in and saw the menu we decided on a cooked meal instead. The pub has a lovely warm, cosy and inviting atmosphere and the landlady was very friendly and welcoming. The food was... More

We visited The George on our first night at Dulverton feeling very hungry after a very long drive. Our landlady had booked us a table at The George just an hour before and they were expecting us. We were given a table in a quieter area of the pub full of lovely old pictures from the past. Service was good... More

We have been to the George several times for dinner and always had a thoroughly enjoyable meal, but we booked last minute for a group of 10 to have Sunday lunch and could not fault the meal or the service. The landlady, Lyn, could not have been more helpful in accommodating us. She even managed to cope with the fact... More

First real visit to the George. Very friendly welcome from the landlady and great atmosphere overall with many locals. Sunday Roast was excellent and very good value. Definitely on our list of locals with a lovely beer garden with great views. Will be visiting regularly in the future

The warmth of the welcome was the stand out for our meal here. At the end of a long day travelling it was the perfect place to relax, unwind and eat. The food was typical pub fare but hot, tasty and cheerily served by the very friendly landlady. Nice!
