Lovey ambiance, warm and friendly. The Sunday lunch was to die for. Served promptly by a very friendly member of staff. The proprietor had the time to stop and speak to us which was a lovely touch.

After a lengthy circular walk starting from the pub car park we came in for lunch. Three of the four of us had burgers while the forth had cottage pie. We also had two dogs with us (the pub is very dog friendly). Both dogs...had a mini lunch from the doggy menu. Our lunch was lovely, the service was friendly and the prices very reasonable. We would definately return.More
We had a great Sunday lunch at The Plough Inn. We'd reserved a table and arrived to a lovely welcome sign, dog menu, dog biscuit and water bowl. Our roasts were gorgeous and good sized portions and our dog loved the sausages from the dog...menu! It was very busy but the staff were very attentive and friendly and food came out in good time.More
Had supper here while staying locally. Unfortunately the most interesting thing on the menu (lamb shish kebab) wasn't available that evening. Had the fish and chips instead. The fish seemed a bit like pre-battered, frozen oven fish, and the tartare sauce tasted very vinegary and...processed, like it came from a store-bought jar/packet. Even the coleslaw was crude. It would have been ok as cheap pub-grub, but the pricing wasn't far off what a much better pub down the road was charging for significantly better quality. However, the staff were friendly and the pub was cosy.More
Thank you to Steph & Zoe who made us feel so welcome, and to the kitchen staff for the amazing food. We came to the area on a girls holiday and were extremely pleased with our experience at the plough. Polite and friendly staff, the...food was delicious and the atmosphere of the pub was just like home from home. Thank you so much, can't wait to come this way again.More
very rarely leave reviews but checking the temperature of meat before you serve it feels like a very standard food hygiene process. Sadly, I was served very raw chicken schnitzel. I’m quite an easy going person but I wish that I’d have taken a photo...of the dish and made a bit more of an issue, as it was I was served up an alternative meal of scampi and chips (which I only felt comfortable enough to eat the chips) and still paid £48 for pleasure of my visit. Do not go here.More
We had a meal, with great service and it was very reasonably priced. Highly recommended for good pub grub. Good parking too
Friendly welcome from all staff. Easy parking. We all enjoyed our excellent burgers from their very good value burger menu.
Lovely Sunday lunch prebooked table with dog Arrived to find dog bowl, dog menu and treats on table, lovely touch Drink order taken and arrived quickly Food order taken and also very prompt. Had both the beef and turkey. Both were very nice waitress advised...extra gravy available on request which we did and again came put straight away. Puddings good too Very enjoyable Sunday lunch and the dog loves Bob's homemade liver cake!! We will be back.More
If this were our first visit we wouldn’t go back….5.45pm, maybe 6 tables taken. Unfriendly, inattentive bar person needed telling several times what our two drinks were. Asked to eat to which the reply was “have you booked”…as we had not she went off to...“look” for a table (although we could see maybe 10/12 from where we stood. Allowed us a table in the middle of three occupied tables that appearing to contain somewhat inebriated family, arguing and swearing amongst themselves. We went outside as all the tables were free, despite it being overcast and slightly windy it was better ! Went back and ordered food, sold up by bar person to a Surf n’Turf and partner ordered Sea Bass.Went back outside to enjoy drinks. Waitress came out and told us no Sea Bass , second choice Lasagna, no Lasagna, ended up choosing Fish n’Chips. Bar person then came out and said that they didn’t do Surf n’Turf anymore. At this point we nearly gave up. Food came out reasonably promptly. Waitress disappeared for several minutes before returning with a caddy of condiments and knifes and forks which was just plonked on the table.(and needed a damn good clean…euck! Both chips (chunky) looked delicious, but sadly The Plough seems to have gone the way of many now, chips no doubt frozen, probably some colouring and if the contents ARE all potato I would be most surprised we’re just mushy pap.Awful. Rump steak was tough, peas were like bullets. The food and service used to be sooooo much better. Staff need some clues on how to actually make customers welcome.Pub needs to claw back some of its old ways. If it needs to charge a bit more then it should , people are happy to pay a bit more for quality food and service, as serving this food in this way certainly would make us seriously think about coming back.Real shame.More
Lovely pub kind friendly reception. Great menu varied and interesting. Clean spacious and well worth a stop over.
Went for Sunday lunch the service was terrible unfriendly, waited over 20 mins for drinks so went and got them myself off tray left on bar, food came out 1meal missing from table 4 no gravy then was told to move tables as we had...dog after meal was served. Sign on front of pub saying dog friendly !!! Paid for drinks and left food. Service bad not even busy won’t be backMore
Poor kitchen service, by the time we got served, we’d gone beyond hungry (1.5 hours after arrival for my main dish), so the food was wasted on me. We booked a table 2 weeks in advance as a group of 12 for a mid week...evening meal. We pre chose and pre ordered our food. We all arrived on time. It took over an hour of waiting for our starters (which some of us had decided not to order, as not to spoil eating our main course), and then another 25 minutes for our main courses. Astonishingly, 3 out of the 12 main courses didn’t get cooked. So 3 members of the group had to wait even longer for their dinners. The food (when you get it) is good pub grub. For the 3 members whose food wasn’t cooked the pub waived payment. Jury’s out as to whether I’ll re-visit.More
Popped in for a spot of lunch as the sign said dog friendly. They were not lying They even had a dog menu. Friendly staff great atmosphere food was delicious made to feel really welcome highly recommend it.
A very nice main meal traditional Sunday roast. The puddings rather disappointing as shop bought meringue was hard and dry. Comfortable conservatory dinning room with nice decor but the carpet could do with replacing by wood flooring for ease of cleaning. The staff were very...welcoming and most attentive. Overall a pleasant experience thank you.More
