Although the pub was busy we had no trouble finding a table in the restaurant. Staff were pleasant and helpful and the food was freshly prepared. The potted crab was superb, perfectly seasoned and a large portion for a starter. The Eton mess was excellent also. I wonder if parking would be difficult at busy times- we used the car... More

A well balanced food menu and sensibly priced, excellent quality, good beer on tap, and I like the young staff who are well mannered and the service was spot on. Good for families or just if you are a couple.

We went here twice once for drinks and then to eat. On both occasions the service was really friendly efficient and welcoming. Even when I booked for dinner over the phone the person I spoke to sounded very happy and cheery. Lovely homecooked food, lovely chips! Good for carnivors and veggies. Even good for kids as they have a lovely... More

The Ship in Porlock is one of those places that once visited is never forgotten. From the second that you walk in you are made to feel welcome. The bar is stocked with a wide variety of beers, cider & wine. Then comes the food which was presented superbly and cooked to perfection. Between us we had the lamb, cod... More

My colleague and I visited The Ship on Thursday 27th Inn (again third year) whilst we were staying at The Cottage B&B (Excellent) and we had an enjoyable evening in the lovely atmospheric restaurant. For starters I had the Potted Crab with brown bread £6.75 (nice, but straight from the fridge needing to come to room temperature and the butter too... More

Thank you for your review and I have noted your comments re the Potted Crab. We do have to store them at temperature in our fridge but perhaps we can leave them a little longer at room temperature before we send them. Look forward to seeing you again next year. Regards Caroline More

I visited with friends for a meal and a few drinks. The venue is good, with a decent sized bar area and a separate restaurant - the latter with some nice Star Wars posters and other show business decoration. There is an outside seating area, but it was too cold to contemplate using that. The toilets are in a separate... More

Dear Gary, Thank you for taking the time to review. Unfortunately we are unable to move the toilets inside the main bar as we are a grade two listed building - the toilets were originally situated where the skittle alley so by moving into an out house building which is undercover and adjacent to the bar was the best alternative.... I came here on my own, as I was staying in Porlock for work. The interior and exterior are the very definition of an old English pub. Thatch roof, white wash walls, log burner, old beams, room for the local dogs, all ticked off the list. The menu had plenty of choice of locally sourced food and I struggled to... More

Thank you so much for your kind review. The G&T cheesecake was a request by a customer and we gave it ago - to be honest there is not much flavour in gin especially when marscarpone is added to it but we thought we would honour the customer's wishes and try something new. I think we will stick to fruit... More
