Good Friday and this place was busy. I'd booked and we found ourself perched on a table for two in the restaurant area. This area is better served for use by family groups rather than a cosy dinner for two sans kids...and I asked to be moved into the pub bar area. This was no trouble at all. Simple pub... More

I always look on Tripadvisor.....and this place looked an ideal place to have a quiet night and good food...I was far from dissapointed !. Living on the Dorset border..the Hunters is not a million miles from where I live......and I have been trying to visit for ages. I read the last post that complained about the smell of bleach...I smelt... More

We have enjoyed a bar meal in this pub before so were looking forward to a nice lunch. Unfortunately the whole eating area reeked of bleach. Not one one of the staff acknowledged us so we left. What a shame!

Thank you for your review. Im sorry to hear of your experience with us over the weekend. All our floors are cleaned daily but due to an extremely busy breakfast the restaurant floor was cleaned late (around 11.30am) and hence a lemon floor cleaner smell was present at the beginning of the lunch service. The smell does disappear very quickly.... More

Good choice of food. Daily specials and weekend carvery, plus menu. I understand food is available all day. Inn is not far from the main road.

We ate here today (05/03) for sunday lunch, there were 6 of us in total as we were 2 seperate parties and both of us had driven for 2 hours to reach the pub as it is mid way between the starting points. We chose it based upon the previous reviews posted on here and decided on the carvery as... More

Popped in with my Parents after a shopping trip, car park was almost full the bar and restaurant were very busy. We managed to find a nice round table near the bar and within 3-4 minutes a young friendly waitress came and took our drinks order and our lunch choices when she returned with the drinks. The salt and pepper... More

We ate in the bar as the large dining room is a bit impersonal when nearly empty. Good, friendly service, with a smile. Good choice on the menu, but, as someone else has also said the actual menu is rather off putting, as it gives the impression of a cheap chain pub, being a large plasticised card. Nice mackerel starter... More

We booked 2 OAP, 2 adults, 2 under 6 years for Sunday lunch. We travelled along the 303 and found the turn off after Wincanton, was signposted. It was very busy mainly with an older clientele. The large back room was nearly filled and it lacked any atmosphere or character. There was a choice of 3 meats and the usual... More

We do get very busy on a Sunday, sorry to hear you were not very happy with your meal, and that you had to ask for children's menu and cutlery, we are in the middle of training new staff, I have passed your comments on. I hope you will come back and give us another try. We look forward to... More

This is a large pub on the outskirts of town, handy for the A303. The dining room is big and quite chilly. The food is ok, and the portion sizes are good. The vegetarian option was pasta with pesto. Staff very pleasant, but the dining room lacks atmosphere. This was a midweek lunchtime, so maybe that didn't help.

Sunday lunch is good, you get big portions. Outdoor area is great for children, there is a playground for them.
