About
A traditional country pub with a menu of stunning, locally sourced food and a vast range of drinks, including local ales, an array of gins and fine wine. Dogs welcome in our Bar areas and outside. The Meynell Ingram Arms had been closed for around five years, however the pub has, following significant renovations and refits, now re-opened. The Meynell now offers relaxed dining, with a high quality food and drink offer throughout a variety of different dining areas including; the main restaurant, Sam’s bar, and the original dog friendly Meynell bar and restaurant. In addition the much redesigned courtyard and garden will provide a fabulous space on sunny days. So whether it’s a quick pint after work, a light lunch with friends or a fully blown celebratory dinner, we hope to have something to suit all.

The Meynell Ingram Arms offers a traditional yet vibrant atmosphere that guests often appreciate, although the lively setting can sometimes lead to a noisy environment. Patrons have experienced a mixed bag when it comes to service and wait times, with some facing delays in seating and meal service, and receiving inconsistent attention from staff. As for the culinary experience, opinions are divided: while some diners savor the delicious offerings, others have been let down by overcooked and lackluster dishes, questioning the value for the price paid.

We have eaten as a family here twice in the last month and been impressed on both occasions. Love the location in rolling countryside, it is a beautifully converted stone building with a traditional pub style area, with a modern conversion at the back and sides of the building with a restaurant area, outdoor seated area and a wood-fired pizza area. There are also a few ‘garden pods’ for groups of four or more which are a cosy and private option. The menu is simple, focussed on great quality ingredients and good value for money. The service was efficient and friendly. We visited on an ‘eat out to help out’ evening and were amazed by how well the team handled the numbers of people. Would strongly advise to book well ahead to avoid disappointment. We may see you there!

The pub is lovely, a nice garden area and a sophisticated main restaurant with great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming.. Starter we had the honey baked camembert with celery and infused croutons £12.50 for 2 - this was nice but not enough celery and croutons for the camembert we ended up ordering extra bread. Main course we both had the cheese burger which was just that a burger with some cheese sadly a little dull and the chips were not that great. Sadly on this occasion the food was dull and uninspired. Would i dine here again? Yes probably as the atmosphere is great and lovely pub and decor, hopefully food better on our next visit.

Really very good. Manages to cater for all tastes and budgets from a £12 steak and ale pie to a £59 chateaubriand on the day I visited, friendly and accommodating staff and while it’s clearly not appropriate to take a dog into the restaurant, it nonetheless seems dog friendly based on my experience. Also a great location with various in-door and outdoor spaces. A little more generosity with vegetables and potatoes wouldn’t go amiss on some dishes, but that’s the only improvement I could suggest and may not apply to all dishes - the fish and chips was very well portioned. The service and ambience exceeds expectations, will definitely be going back.

We have eaten at the Maynell Ingram Arms twice now and on each occasion have enjoyed the food very much. It has a formal restuarant, bar meals and a pizza bar as well as a large number of tables in the garden and an outside bar, but I think that is only open at weekends. Some of the outdoor seating has over head heaters, useful in the colder weather. They also have four huts in the garden which seat up to six people so a family can sit in grand isolation and have a lovely time but these have to be reserved. The first time we ate there I ordered the sausage and mash. The sausages were quite small but you got three and they were tasty. After that I had a cheese board and you had the choice of three or four different cheeses. It came with black grapes, green grapes, celery, sweet pickle three different types of crackers of which there were at least three and two pieces of focaccia. It was delicious but I had to share with my husband as there was so much of it. The second time we ate there we both had the Maynell burger which again was lovely and because of the size of the cheese board we decided to have one and share it again. What came bore little relation to our previous serving. We got the cheese, two small slices of bread, celery, pickle, small bunch of black grapes and five crackers, a black one, a red one and three others. We were very disappointed as it was nothing like the one we had before which was the reason we had decided to have the cheese board. Obviously it had been prepared by a different person but my frustration is the lack of consistancy. It wasn't so much the smaller size that was disappointing as there was sufficient but no way near as much as the one we had before. It just seemed like a different cheese board. They offer extensive range of drinks including 40 types of gin. Their COVID-19 processes are good and we felt safe eating there but then there wasn't many people in the room. The service was quick and efficient and they were helpful in logging on the Track & Trace system. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Maynell Ingram but I question the consistency of food served as it would appear it very much depends on who is on duty in the kitchen.

We were really looking forward to dinner with friends during these challenging times. The food at this restaurant was over priced and poor Qualify. We ordered the squid and bruschetta starters. The squid was rubbery and the bruschetta was poorly presented and tasted bland. Main courses were sea bass and lamb Kofta. The lamb was dry and tasteless. This restaurant classes itself as high end dining. The reality is that this establishment is over rated in terms of the quality of food. Service from some of the staff was less than satisfactory. We were ordered off the premises at 10pm by two extremely rude and arrogant individuals who has absolutely no idea about customer service. Our thoughts are to avoid this place like the plague as the food is very average and the service lacks any kind of personal touch. Considering we spent nearly £250 for our dining experience it was hugely disappointing that both the quality of food and service were below par. Many better places to eat locally that care about their customers and offer good food at an affordable price. We will not be visiting this place ever again!

It was our first dining out experience since the March lockdown and it was excellent. My husband and I were dining with another couple and we were seated at a circular table which gave each of us plenty of space. Importantly, we felt we were COVID safe. There was plenty to choose from on the menu and we each had something different. For my main course I had the cornfed chicken with cauliflower and macaroni cheese and it certainly didn't disappoint. The portion size was good, it had plenty of flavour and at just under £15 represented good value. The Eton mess was also delicious. We all enjoyed our meals - no complaints, only compliments. The team members were friendly and always on hand to get drinks. We're looking forward to going back soon.

I am a local chap who called into the Meynell last night (party of 4 people) around 5.30pm to show some friends of ours from Scotland the local sites. The bar area was deserted except for one guy behaving the bar who was emptying and loading a disshwasher. After a couple of minutes he finally acknowledged our presence. I sat by the table next to the door which did not have a reserved sign on it. He asked if we had a table reserved and i responded that we did not but were here for a drink. He told us that we would have to go and find the hostess to see if we could have a drink. (Not i will find out for you!) This also happened to me the week before when i went in with a friend. It seems that unless you have booked and want to eat you are basically not welcome here. So i will not be frequenting this establishment again and lets see how they fare when the eat out to help out frenzy ends and the place empties. I know that i am not The only person who has experienced this. So Mr Meynell your staff need some training on customer service as its non existent .... rant over never to return. Red Lion, Roebuck & Dog & Partridge from now on!

After hearing of the refurbished and in the area it was a ‘let’s go..’ Lunch time was quiet but service was good. Choice of food was superb and when our Ox Cheek was served it was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Lunchtime menu is served until 3pm then evening menu starts around 5pm. But oven baked pizzas are served all day. Very highly recommended 👍

Visited as a party of 4 on Sunday, the place was very busy despite it being a foggy, frosty night. We sat in the large restaurant area which is nice & bright & had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We each had a starter, main & pudding which were very good apart from the squid starter (too much 'salad' not enough squid) and the roast chicken (whole small chicken/poussin - very dry & ended up with small bones in most mouthfuls, not good!). Service was good for the food but they were slow to bring drinks when requested at the table. We would visit again & recommend.

Fantastic! First visit and won’t be the last to the Meynell . Warm atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff and superb service. The portions were huge had the best fish and chips ever and hubby had roast beef dinner all beautifully presented, would of preferred the beef to have been cooked to my liking a little pink but still tender. Sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Good choice and varied menu a great way to end a Sunday evening . Looking forward to our next visit

Me and my partner selected to go to the Mynell to take a couple of friends who were visiting… We chose this place due to its cosy atmosphere and great interior… Unfortunately the food was a total let down… having read the menu in how it’s described to how it was served is a total contrast… It was obvious that the food was just frozen out of a packet and fried, with little care or attention. Which is fine if you are in weatherspoons paying those prices but you are not… One meal was served without a key ingredient. The manager did try and compensate for the disappointing food and I will give him credit for how he handled the situation… I’m afraid the food needs significant improvement and thought to reach the standards that it is presenting on the menu… I rarely leave negative reviews but we were left very deflated by the food and it’s such a shame as the place is lovely.

What a fantastic evening! The staff, the atmosphere, the service were top notch. The food was honestly amazing and each of the four of us were served very tasty, very fresh food. I can personally recommend the Crispy Squid starter and the Spiced Monkfish main. We are all determined to visit again soon. Thank you

Fantastic Sunday lunch - beautiful setting, lovely service and delicious food. We started with a selection of all the nibbles - fabulous and lots of food! Stand out dishes were rump of lamb with ratatouille and roast pork. Hubby said it was the best roast he has even eaten… Children roast portions were appropriately sized and priced. Puddings were a delight - local icecream again a large portion, choc brownie ( enormous) and mango pannacotta. We finished with fantastic coffee which came with a homemade choc truffle. Can’t wait to return!

Took my husband here for his birthday. Quiet, but it was a Tuesday. Welcome good and so was the meal. We had the Seafood Platter to share as a starter. Was huge. Good variety. Mains were good, but I had eaten too much to start with! My husband had the Rhubarb Souffle for dessert. The staff had discovered it was a birthday and when the dessert arrived so did a slate platter with Happy Birthday written in fruit puree, chocolate and vanilla ice cream. A very kind gesture. Found the service good. Thought it was excellent value too.

My partner and I enjoyed a pleasant meal here to celebrate a birthday. Firstly, the location and is great and the building is very pretty; it's a spacious place and not very well signposted - we had a table reserved in the indoor restaurant and didn't really know where to go or to wait. Anyway, once seated we were impressed with the decor. The service was friendly and speedy - all staff looked smart and were efficient, plus all wore masks which is very reassuring. We enjoyed our main courses: the chicken burger was perfectly cooked and the accompanying chips were delicious and the lamb was also cooked to perfection. However, we ordered two items from the nibbles/sharer menu to start and we were disappointed to discover that packets and tubs of our items had simply been put on a board and brought to us with a huge mark up on price. Nothing home made. Shame. Unfortunately, it was super hot inside; the doors were open but on a hot day that has no effect on the ambient temperature indoors, and instead it meant that lots of flies were buzzing around us and cigarette smoke was repeatedly blowing in while we were eating which was most off putting. Perhaps management could consider installing some air conditioning once the pandemic is over (I acknowledge that it could already be installed and simply not in use currently due to the Coronavirus). Would we go again? Yes. Overall, we enjoyed our evening.
