Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited this tea room on a recommendation from a friend today . The building is beautiful, the decor and dining tables left a lot to be desired and all looked a rather disjointed interior with minimal atmosphere. Service was fine, coffee was fine but...the Sunday lunch for £11.95 was bland and unappetising. The chicken was presented as a fillet of chicken breast , over cooked and dry, no skin or evidence of being freshly roasted. It was nasty. The gravy didn’t taste like chicken gravy but rather like a beef packet mix gravy. The stuffing ball tasted like a Paxo packet job and was dry and anaemia looking. The roast potatoes tasted like they had been precooked and re warmed and the carrots and broccoli were bland with lack of seasoning. Yorkshire puddings were no where to be seen but I believe they were listed as part of the roast. We were very disappointed. The all day breakfast looked more encouraging, and wish we’d have ordered that instead. We didn’t stop for desert as the quality and freshness of the food was now in question. Such a shame.More

Stuck behind industrial facades and with a rather washed out sign on the main road, after a lovely trip to the wedding shop across the road, we decided to risk going in. Parking was round the back. Well, what a lovely surprise, a very atmospheric...tea room, with pleasant surroundings and lovely staff and immaculately clean. Try and find it amongst all the old and new brewing buildings.More

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with friends.Freshly made sandwiches with a choice of bread and fillings.Tasty scones with jam and cream and a choice of gateau. One of the best cup of teas served in china cups with saucers.Reasonably priced too. Always friendly helpful staff at...Langans who never hurry you.More

Took 3 friends for afternoon tea but ended up with sandwich and gateau. (Booked in advance) No white bread in the establishment. Sandwiches had hardly any butter on them, thick brown bread, really dry. Gateau was stale on the edges and cream in lumps, not...fresh or moist. Nice cup of tea though. Service ok but we were the only ones in there for the majority of the time. Disappointing visit and sadly unlike my previous time when food was nice. Sainsbury’s only yards away so if I was the manager I’d have sent someone out for a loaf of white bread. Hopefully only a blip as I’m sure the Community project is worthwhile.More

I love this place. The building is fascinating. The afternoon tea is great. It is very good value and the sandwiches come served on a beautiful cake stand. I love the fact that the plates don’t match. It is very quirky. We will definitely be...back. Would definitely recommend.More

My 2nd visit to the tea rooms. I like the elegance of this place. I also like the table service, you certainly can relax here unlike the other cafes in Burton. Twice I’ve had the homemade soup with ciabatta and the bread is lovely. I...wish they did other soup other than tomato, that’s my preference. Staff are ok too. Some more talkative than others but I understand the concept of the social enterprise and what it offers to its service users. Thank you for another pleasant visit.More

Had a great experience here, lovely staff, great breakfast, and couldn't resist the homemade cakes as well! The waiter advised I had the Bakewell flan - great shout, it was amazing. Really fantastic place doing great work, we'll be back!

Prices seem to have risen from what's on the website but the All Day Breakfast (now over £8) is best value as it includes tea or coffee (so the trad breakfast plus a drink is about the same price). Nice ingredients - good sausages (some...cafes do scrimp on the sausages) and bacon especially. Companion had soup and sandwich. This was in Christmas holidays so only the breakfast and afternoon tea menus available, but still a decent choice. Good use of old building - paid for by the boss of Bass brewery in the 1890s as a Liberal Club - but he changed party while it was being built, but still opened it!More

We arrived at Langans last week for a festive afternoon tea with friends. We were greeted warmly then served tasty sandwiches, cake, huge mince pies and the most delicious warm scones we’ve ever had. Nine ladies and two of us vegan, started with a really good main of sandwiches. Everyone else had huge scones and cream, we had what looked like a biscuit with marg and jam. Turned out the scones were gluten free, which wasn't necessary and scones...could have been made with margarine and served with soya cream. Took the cup cakes home in a box but found out they were concave, indelible, chewy and covered with pink goop of icing. A shame as staff were lovely and prompt, friendly and sorted any issues straight away.More
