Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Second visit for myself and son, first for his Fiancé. Sure we will be back. The cats are so adorable, all different personalities. Very relaxing place. Spotllessly clean. Lovely girls serving, who know all about the cats and obviously love them. We had lunch, jacket...potatoes, followed by delicious lemon cake, along with drinks. My son remarked that his Cappuccino was excellent. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you all .More

This was a belated celebration in Eccleshall of our granddaughter's 8th birthday - it was her choice, a cream tea with lots of cats, oh, and with the family, 6 of us. Family knew the previous café when in Stone - we were visitors! We...are "cat-grandparents", we've had cats all our lives! You have to go to Charlie's accepting that it will be a "high tea" afternoon but with the feline difference - you will get distracted and your drinks will probably get cold! (Staff will get you a fresh pot!). I understand reviewers' hygiene concerns, but I witnessed staff washing hands and keeping the mischievous Arthur (I think that's right!) away from table tops, he's like a rocket when he smells and sees milk and cream! We're a family of mainly health professionals, working and retired, so understand hygiene. You'll be asked to sanitise hands and take shoes off or wear the plastic shoe covers provided, to minimise any external infections. The lovely food (we had to take cake home!) is prepared in an enclosed kitchen area, served on lovely china crockery (not all matched, but that's part of the fun and charm!), all away from the 13 (or so!) pussies. I couldn't fault the staff attitude on the day, everything was explained politely and clearly, and with a smile - that's often missing nowadays! Oh, it's batter to book in advance. We'll be back - thank you! ColinMore

My first to a cat café. Heard good things. This place was awesome. Happy cats (you can tell they're loved and like the fuss), who were chilled, lovely atmosphere and decor. Nice food and super friendly, welcoming cats. Definitely recommend!

We visited Charlies on the 24/06/2023 and found all the staff very friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. Its very clean and the cats am friendly. We was very lucky because they managed to fit us in. We parked on the coop and its just off...the car park. You ring a bell to get in. We only had a coffee but we hope to go again very soon with a few more family and will phone and book. Me and my wife love cats and we felt at home at Charlies. Thank you all.:)More

Garbage. From start to finish, staff were ignorant, the food awful. Table booking fee was totally unnecessary! You would have to question the food hygiene as the kitchen staff were handling cats then heading back to the kitchen! Do. Not. Bother!More

The concept is great, however when staff handle cats, who leave cat hairs on their aprons, then go back into the kitchen where food and drinks are prepared, there is a serious food hygiene issue here. There were a few other things that weren't quite...right and spoilt a birthday treat for my autistic son. Hence to say, I won't be going back - there are much better places to enjoy a birthday lunch with owners who value and accept feedback, unlike this one.More

I booked and received confirmation for the Stone location. I arrived here 10 minutes early to find a handwritten sign with an address in Eccleshall where the cafe was now located. After paying parking and travelling to the incorrect location I feel that at the...time of booking it would have been a little bit of good customer service to inform the paying customer of where the cafe was actually located. When I travelled to the correct location staff were overheard stating that other customers had not shown up and were probably 'in Stone' like it's humourous to mess your paying customers around in this manner wasting their time and petrol money. Charlie's Cat cafe sort this as quickly as you take a payment to book a table as it's pretty poor service. Otherwise a friendly furry experience but somewhat dampened by not being directed to the correct location at the time of booking😾🐾More

We went as a family of four, paying £36 for ‘bums on seats’ before ordering any food or drinks, just something to bear mind. Shoe covers are required to be worn, which makes perfect sense. Would be better if they didn’t already have holes in...though 🙈 The cats were lovely. My children thoroughly enjoyed that aspect. The food was OK, but we’re talking very basic. It’s more of an experience with the cats than a meal out. Just a heads up. As said by a previous reviewer, it would be lovely to know the cats names on a card on the table. We did check the website before we left so knew a couple, but not all, Probably won’t come back.More

This was my first time at a cat cafe, so this was a new experience for me. The rules are written clearly in the foyer for any newcomers, and there's two sets of doors - the outside doors, and some sliding doors controlled by staff...members to ensure the cats' safety. Heads up also - if you've got kids, there is a lower age limit (6 years old). When I first arrived, a few of our group were running late due to unforeseen transport problems, so I stepped into the foyer (door was already open) and rang the doorbell by the sliding doors to explain, and if I could enter a few minutes early. Another couple of people behind me were down to do the same for their own booking. Upon the staff member opening the door and checking the booking sheet, the other party were told flatly to come back at their allotted time (same as ours) "and shut the door behind [you]". I was also dismissed similarly, and the staff member dashed back in without so much as a goodbye. I don't have an issue with coming back later if needed, but I was a bit taken aback by the curtness. When I returned at the allotted time there were several groups outside waiting to be let in - we were admitted one group at a time and given shoe coverings. I was shown to our booked table but no staff members came over for drinks orders, etc. and seemed pretty stressed and run off their feet. The other members of my group arrived, drinks orders were taken and pots of tea brought over, but we then had to wait another few minutes for cups. Food was provided after a short while - it was OK. There's gluten-free options too. Admission (inc. a hot drink) is £9, so an afternoon tea tray is another £16 on top of that. Other food on the menu is pretty basic but fairly priced. It was adorable to see the cats trying to get in on the scones and cream (they're not allowed any human food, understandably, but they'll give it a good solid try). The cats do look very well-cared for, and there's enough room for every cat to have their own space and a break from socialising. There's scratching posts and a lovely wooden structure where they can climb and nap out of reach from human hands. It would've been good to have some info provided about these fluffy residents; there weren't any leaflets on the table to say who they were, which rescue they'd come from, etc. Maybe a laminated card on each table would work? After scran, our group relaxed a bit and had a good time catching up on gossip and fussing over the cats that came to visit with us. All in all - 3 does seem a bit harsh but TA won't allow half-points! One of our group has been a few times, knows some of the cats by name and has always really liked it here; so perhaps it was just an off-day for the staff (it was mentioned that they'd had a really manic morning). That being said, I'm not in a rush to come back. I'll perhaps look at visiting other cat cafes in the Midlands next time.More

We were just visiting the town, and driving past the window, saw a ginger cat on the back of an armchair and just knew we had to visit. No charge to enter unlike some places do. There are rules but none too strict. The staff...were lovely and friendly and the drinks we had reasonably priced. We would have eaten their delicious looking cakes but we’d airway had a large breakfast. The cats all looked well cared for and seemed to get on okay with each other. We counted 12 whilst we were there but could have been more. Lots of arial walkways, toys and drinking fountains. If you still still, the cats will come and visit you,More
