My wife and I had two evening meals here, and were delighted. We were uncertain about the size of our party on both nights, but the staff were unfazed. Everybody we spoke to was pleasant, cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful, whether the owners or young, part-time...staff (clearly carefully chosen and well trained). The setting was reassuring and felt very safe, yet it also managed to feel intimate and welcoming. Two different chefs were in charge on our two visits, and both are clearly superb. My wife needs to eat gluten-free, and the very clear menu states which dishes are gluten-free, and which can be easily adapted. The restaurant was also very obliging if a customer wished to combine menus. The portions of excellent home-cooked food were exactly right and perfectly cooked, and tasted wonderful (and I personally have very little sense of taste). The presentation was neat and unfussy. Those seated around us were clearly enjoying themselves as much as we were.More

We went to the wheatsheaf with my parents and sister, brother in law and niece. After struggling to find somewhere nice willing to seat 9 of us, I am so happy that we found this place. The setting is elegant but comfortable, the staff friendly...but not too in your face, the service quick and the food incredible. My daughter ate from the children's menu and loved her food. The other 8 of us had a wide range of starters, mains and desserts and not a one of us had any food left on our plates. It was all delicious. The toilet facilities are clean with plenty of soap and hand sanitizer available. We will definitely be going back.More

I visited wirh my family to celebrate many covid-missed biethdays and anniversaries. The food was amazing, personally, I had the satay chicken and lamb, followed by the cheese board. All was delicious. Our party has a variety of dishes, which were all enjoyed and reported...to be delicious too. Our waiting on staff were brilliant, with just the right level of banter and humour. They read us well. Ehen the call of nature came, tne toilets were also spotless and hand sanitiser was evident and useful. Honestly? This is a little gem and we will be returning.More

Last evening our family, a party of 9 had a wonderful experience at the Wheatsheaf , Stone. From when we first made the booking a few weeks ago, to speaking to the staff on the day prior to our visit to confirm our choice's of...starter and main courses, on entering the restaurant last evening it was an extremely pleasant experience from start to finish. I cannot praise the staff enough for their courtesy and politeness, they went far beyond anything that you could expect . From our starters to dessert we treated as extremely important people and our waitresses couldn't do enough for us. The food was out of this world and extremely well presented and cooked and all nine of us cleared everything on our plates. We all heartily recommend anyone wanting to go there for either a simple meal for two to a full family celebration for whatever the reason. Thank you staff and we will all definitely be coming back again , whether as a group or as individual families.More

When arranging to meet a friend for a long awaited catch up as we live 150 miles from one another, we did a bit of searching around for somewhere suitable around halfway between us. Luckily we came across The Wheatsheaf and enquired about dining outside...as we have loved ones who are particularly vulnerable so we are still quite tentative about the relaxation of restrictions. They were happy to accommodate us and reserved a table outside. The lovely British summertime weather was against us and after trying to power through we enquired about a table, away from other diners inside. They couldn't be more helpful, offering us a table in the restaurant away from everyone but also an alternative entirely separate room if the restaurant became too busy. It was such a pleasure to have our needs really well considered and catered for. In addition to this, the service from everyone we dealt with was fantastic, the food was delicious with a great choices of dishes on the menu and it was a really welcoming, friendly atmosphere. It's been so tough for the hospitality industry and many places, now that restrictions have relaxed, see that as an opportunity to cram in customers and disregard personal views on the current situation. This was not the case at the Wheatsheaf and we will certainly be returning again in the future. Thank you so much to all of the team!!More

Have visited for the first time today for Sunday lunch...one word...Excellent, we eat out quite often and this has got to be the best meal out we have had in a long time. Initial greeting from the staff was very friendly we were shown to...a table that actually had a linen table cloth & runner on which was a really good first impression..lamb rump was excellent..I asked for it with gravy & not plumb jus as on the menu...nothing was to much trouble, the sweets were to die for...we enjoyed it so much we have booked again! Fantastic service * fantastic food..Highly recommendedMore

Probably the 10th (or thereabouts) time that we have visited this great establishment. The starting soup of the day was very good. Now the lamp was dear and so I would have liked to have seen more of it as the Lamp rump was sensational.
