Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Brilliant Sunday lunch. Food was great and loads of it. So nice to have the option to get extra gravy and potatoes. The service was excellent and host (gentleman in a flowery shirt) was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

I always relax when I walk into this place because I know it'll all be fine. A warm welcome, good table and then THAT scotch egg starter with the perfect runny yolk arrives ..... The food that comes out of this kitchen never lets us...down. Thank you to Jasmine for taking good care of us and Cooper loves you.More

My mum and I had such a lovely time this afternoon at the Cock Inn. It has beautiful decor, a wide variety of options for food - and I should add my mum and I ordered the slow braised ox and thai rice and they...were unbelievably good! - as well as fantastic staff. I particularly want to thank Jasmin for her friendly service and for gifting my mum a WHOLE bottle of Prosecco because it was her birthday!! Will definitely be returning!More

We met my sister in law for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. We had booked and let them know of specific dietary requirements due to a health issue. The staff were very friendly and tried to be helpful but it was very disorganised and...unprofessional. The afternoon tea was mediocre with no knowledge of the dietary requirements. The sandwiches were very disappointing made with limp soggy white bread and very limited fillings. The scones hard but the little cakes were soft and tasty. The staff were very attentive and tried hard to provide us with a nice experience despite the limitations of the food.More

Had a great experience at the Cock in Headley, popped in for a late lunch to be advised that the kitchen shut at 3 o’clock. The Manager spoke to the chef and they agreed to provide us with a meal despite believing by shut. Great...choice of food and very well prepared. The meal was absolutely lovely , wonderful. The Manager and staff were very attentive and even moved us to a quieter table without us asking. To cap everything, we were then advised that there was 50% off the main course to boot ! Can’t praise the place enough, look forward to returning.More

Group of friends with dogs had a delicious, post walk, Sunday lunch here. Came because recommended by friends and it was great. Food arrived promptly, great options to choose from on the menu - 3 of us had the sirloin roast. Nice touch that extra...yorkies and roast potatoes and extra gravy are offered free of charge. 2 of us had fish dishes (monk fish and fish cake). All tasted wonderful, beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Leave room for the puddings! We shared 3 between us they were to die for. Friendly and relaxing place to have very good food and even better that the dogs (well behaved mind) could join us (2 large labs and 2 spaniels) plenty of space for them to lie down by the table. (We had a round table on a raised platform at front of dining area.) We will definitely be back thanks to Tony and team!More

Delicious food and excellent ambience. We went for a lovely long walk then settled in for an amazing Sunday roast and the most sumptuous puddings. Staff were amazing and friendly.

We went for Sunday lunch with two diners having food intolerances and allergies. One of these had multiple food intolerances (including gluten and dairy) and Danielle bent over backwards to help make sure that these were catered for and that their experience was as good...as everyone else’s. It is also really helpful that the gravy is gluten free! She could not have tried harder and as a result everyone had a fantastic meal. We were not rushed off our table as Tony could see we were having a lovely time so managed to jiggle other tables around which was really thoughtful. The Sunday roast is delicious and they don’t skimp on portions so if you have allergies, intolerances or can eat anything I highly recommend!More

Went for a Sunday lunch. When we first arrived we were rushed into ordering before we’d had a chance to read the menu thoroughly. We had a table for 10 and can honestly say the food was very disappointing. Out of ten meals, only one...was enjoyed and that was the only one that wasn’t a roast dinner. The lamb and beef were very chewy and couldn’t be cut! All of the veg, side dishes, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings etc were smothered in pepper even on the children’s meals. We then got told we had to leave as they needed the table for another reservation! Very disappointing visit! Would not return or recommendMore

We managed to get a booking here for Sunday lunch with friends The online booking page was very busy but we are so lucky we managed to get a table We had a small dog with us and we were seated near the fire All...the staff were incredibly friendly They informed us of a kitchen issue before we sat down and told us the food might take a bit longer to come out - great to know this in advance The menu offers great choice but wow the quality when it came out We will be back, what a beautiful pub with great food and a great atmosphereMore

Been to The Cock before so met friends for lunch. Sadly menu was very limited due to oven/extractor fan being out of action. Food was OKish except cheese soufflé & 'Nduja chicken’ were well over cooked. Service was very slow. I asked for a gin...& tonic. OK I didn’t ask for the tonic not to be added to the gin as I like to do this. So when my drink arrived with the tonic added I wasn’t impressed. I was informed ‘that’s how we do it here’ I was not offered a replacement so I asked for another gin to be added so I could taste it…. Our seat covering was worn away with the foam filling exposed. This was also wearing away & exposed which is a pity as generally, the pub is in good shape. Very dog friendly which is a bonus. Appreciate that the team were busy although a customer did help clear plates & glasses away - think this person is a regular. Felt very sorry for team as cooker out which lead to a very limited menu and must remember to ask for a separate gin & tonic….. However we will be back.More

Hi there MCMC2302, yes we do indeed allow dogs, however only in selected areas of the pub, to manage the expectations of both animal and non-animal lovers.
