Your first time here you might find us a little difficult to find as the pub is down an un-adopted lane in the bottom of a valley, backing on to the Bourne stream. "The Bat" is a traditional country/village pub retaining the charm and atmosphere of what a pub should be. An open fire, panelled walls, nooks and crannies, hops hanging from the old oak beams, cricketing memorabilia and six shining brass hand pumps for ale. Outside there is a covered patio area with grape vines overhead and a large garden with flower borders, a children’s play structure and plenty of seating. There is also a large car park.We offer a good and wholesome selection of light snacks, main meals and a mouth watering selection

We made a very late booking this afternoon for supper after having a booking elsewhere cancelled at the last minute… all I can say is that the cloud had a silver lining! Warm welcome, attentive staff who were at pains to apologise for the shortage...More

We had dinner at The Bat & Ball while staying in the area. Nice little courtyard area outside & a lot of variety on the menu. Food was delicious, lots of sanitising of public areas, staff were friendly & polite what more do you need.....More

Had to wait one hour for our lunch. Two meals were ok. One roast not cooked properly so could only eat the vegetables. Disappointing. Waiters were polite and friendly.

The bat & Ball has been my go-to pub for nearly 20 years and I've recommended it to dozens of other people for the consistently good guest list of ales, great food and friendly efficient service. We visited a couple of times last year and...More

Have been enjoying the B&B for 12+ years and have never bothered to try anywhere else! Last 3 visits though have been very disappointing. Tonight’s experience: Even before arriving, the phone booking process seemed to take >5 minutes. After being sat at the table for...More

Had lunch today with some friends. The service was so slow. We waited well over an hour for our food and even then they forgot our son's chips which I had to ask for twice. We would have ordered puddings as the food was nice...More

I dined here with my family yesterday. We were 4 adults and 3 children. We chose the pub due to its more rural location, a bit more hidden away from crowds. Booking was nice and easy and our table was under the canopy. We felt...More

First visit to this pub ever. Totally hidden away a lovely little place. Food was lovely but service was very slow last night we had to ask a couple of times for things. Staff were friendly and nice.
