Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow really had high expectations for this place, but was really disappointed. I have provided feed back to the manager for the visit survey, not response. Drinks were fine and the bread nibbles was excellent. The Sunday lunch mains were not upto standards. Chicken supreme...was dry, gravy served in messy jug was very watery. I ordered the pork belly, asked the waiter will there be cracking and he said yes. The dish arrived waiter apologized for no cracking 😱. The pork belly was hence fatty and gelatinous a difficult eat. Also the bottom half of the belly was tough and chewy. The apple sauce was missing. The vegetables were fine, cauliflower cheese was tasty. When I went to pay the bill, I got another apology for no crackling. There was no good will, still took payment including the service charge. I was not going to review this place as I was waiting to see if could resolve the issues with the manager. This has not happened. Merry Christmas!More

We waited over an hour for our food to come (one of my friends only ordered a croissant) with no updates at all along the way. They said there was a delay due to it being busy but there were empty tables inside. We were...outside as we had a dog and were freezing cold. The staff were rude and unfriendly towards us and nothing was taken off the bill to compensate for bad service. That is the 2nd time in a month I have been and the service has been horribly slow for a bacon sandwich.More

Hello Charlotte, Thank you for your honest feedback. I'm disappointed to hear of your poor experience/s - this is certainly not the standard usually achieved. I do understand that it was unexpectedly very busy for breakfast on the day that you visited, and while it...More

Applegarth Cafe has multiple WiFi signals but none for customer's. I asked if I could use their WiFi to quickly digitally sign a document and they refused. I was gobsmacked so left. I am now sitting in the Village Cafe in Grayshott using their WiFi...and eating the breakfast I would have eaten at Applegarth.More

As locals, we visit Applegarth frequently, either as a couple, with friends or with family. We have always had a positive experience and the food is always excellent. Their roast dinners are wonderful and currently we're favouring their brunches, which really are excellent. Like many...places in the hospitality industry, they've had challenges with staffing since the pandemic ended, however their staff are always so helpful and friendly and it's always a thoroughly charming experience. I always compare sitting on the terrace as feeling as if we're on holiday - it's relaxed, informal, and charming with a lovely vibe. We're hopeful that one day evening services may resume and that the pizza oven gets going again (ooh and the fishmonger lunch option), but until then, the breakfast and lunch menus are really good and varied and the quality of food is always excellent.More

Lack lustre birthday brunch, their menu online said wild mushrooms on brioche, which is what I went there to have. Everything was in the menu except that. I asked for a fresh juice without the apple juice, the waiter said they were made from scratch...and that was fine. Then he returned to say I couldn’t have it without apple juice and that it could’nt be substituted as it would be too expensive!! No other option was given or suggested. He said they could do mushrooms on sourdough toast if I wanted mushrooms.. I got 2 watery bland field mushrooms on a dry unbuttered piece of toast. No flavour at all. He cleared the plates with no offer of anything else.. didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks or the bill. We had to go up and ask for it at the bar. No acknowledgment from the waiter as we left. I wanted to try something different and experience some interesting delicious food, I got neither.More

Not a great experience, took over 45 minutes for the food to arrive, there was music playing, however don't think it had been vetted as contained the word f**k in it. Although on this occasion I didn't have my child, i don't think it's acceptable....I'd say it is on the high side price wise, and the products are average. Won't be back again.More

This is a few minutes drive from the A3 at Hindhead and well worth a stop. The farm shop deli is a delight and leads into an open cafe- restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Interesting menu with light bites and more substantial options. Decent wine...list too. The staff were lovely and friendly with great service, nothing was too much trouble- will return, recommended.More

Yesterday, at 3.10pm we dropped in for tea and a cake. 2 of us. Tea slow coming out and then we waited and waited for cake and a scone. After 20 mins I went up to bar and asked where it was. Someone came out...and told me the scone was being 'toasted' but was coming. After a further 8mins we went in to change the order to just another cake. They said it was coming. It did, 30 mins after we ordered it! We had of course finished our tea by then. The excuse was they had to warm up the scone and the kitchen was still behind due to the private lunch party that had just left. Given the prices they charge, this was terrible service. So if you go here do not order a scone and jam it will be a 30mins wait. Also service will be slow if a private lunch is on that day.More

As a birthday present I was give a restaurant voucher. We used it few days ago and I was so impressed with the “up market” clean restaurant/cafe. The waiting staff so helpful and could see they loved working there as very happy atmosphere. We went...there for late lunch. We shared three freshly prepared salads from deli counter. Plus I had scotch egg and hubby had turkey. Everything from deli counter and so fresh. I would definitely go there again. Thoroughly recommend it. Their farm shop very good too.More

We loved eating at Applegarth and have visited many times. The service and food were mostly always good so I was surprised when I read some of the less than complimentary reviews. So we booked a lunch booking again, with some trepidation. We really shouldn’t...have been worried. The food was as always excellent and the service was so very pleasant and efficient. We ate and drank so very well and left quite satiated. The next day we had a lovely little email from the Manager - Charlotte - thanking us for visiting and hoping we would return soon. A lovely little touch. We will be back soon Charlotte, thank you.More

Hi Buffy, Unfortunately due to the food retail area, we can't allow dogs inside but they are welcome on our decking area. Happily can bring them out some water.
