A very disappointing experience altogether. On entering the pub I said hello to a member of the team. She couldn’t muster hello back but told me instead that she was writing a sign. We sat outside because it was full. We took a friend from...overseas as he’d been before and enjoyed good food and beer. We ordered a burger, hot dog and beef Bourguignon. On arrival the fries with burger and hot dog were tepid and hotdog been cooked previously . After the beef Bourguignon arrived we then waited a little longer for cutlery. Instantly I notice that the beef B was not hot and the mash that accompanied it not hot enough. The waitress who delivered the food was then stood on a table near us with an vape in hand and when she finally got down I got her attention to tell her the beef and mash were not hot enough. My friends were not bothered about sending back their fries. My meal finally came back after a few mins in a microwave. The beef was like a regular stew with the odd mushroom and lots of carrots. The mash was awful and seemed like a none qualified kitchen porter had just squashed some lumpy potatoes forgetting the butter and cream/ milk that would have made the creamy mash as described on the menu. The staff really don’t care and are casual and apathetic. On reflection we wish we’d not bothered. We headed to the Spring Grove where the welcome was warm and menu amazing.More

Went with a group of work colleagues I had a Smokehouse burger which was tasty and good size. Other colleagues enjoyed there burgers and ribs. Excellent choice of Ale and ciders on tap. Service was good and not over the top expensive either

It really galls me to give such a bad review but one of the best pubs in Kingston has become one of the worst. The food is AWFUL. We went 2 weeks ago and my chicken burger (an old favourite) was terrible - they had...battered the chicken like it was a piece of fish. Th me max and cheese had been made with big pasta like rigatoni, the sauce was watery and the top burnt. Hoping it was a one-off, we went tonight and ordered a “normal” double-cheeseburger. There was only a single patty in the burger and it was tiny. We complained and the excuse was “they had a different butcher and the burgers were twice the size”. I’m sorry but it was quite clearly a single, small patty and totally unacceptable that the wait staff lied when they could have just said they were low on burgers. We ended up sending it back which meant we went hungry and the pub lost money so no-one wins. I love a great pub and have been here for many years, so it really does sadden me that I have to recommend people don’t come here any more. The pub needs to look itself in the mirror as it’s not currently deserving of customers money.More

We booked a 5:00 pm Sunday roast at the Albion for after our visit to Hampton Court Palace based on online reviews. We had visited Kingston Upon Thames before as a little break from the middle of London and enjoyed it, and we also figured...that we’d be eating with locals versus a bunch of tourists like us. We really liked it! One of us had the half chicken roast and one of us had the trio of meats roast, which were all tasty, especially with the added sauces. The accompaniments were really good (mmm, cauliflower cheese…) and we appreciated all the veggies. We got there a bit earlier than our reservation so had a chance to enjoy a cider and a chat with the local gent sitting next to us before our table was ready. As expected, at dinner we were surrounded by extended families (and a couple doggies hanging out by their owners' feet) enjoying their Sunday roasts, which was delightful. (As a side note, you order food at the bar vs waiting for a server to come and take your order.) All in all we had an awesome time and an excellent pub meal, and we would highly recommend the Albion.More

Went for a family Sunday lunch. Yorkshires were burnt. Kids burgers were burnt, the cauliflower cheese was burnt, no roast potatoes with either roast. Lamb was chewy and the veggies were undercooked. Gravy was great. No one asked how the food was or if everything...was ok with the meal. They could see it was burnt when it was served.More

Travelled solo for work to Kingston and stayed down the road. Welcoming staff keen to share tasters of the (many) beer options. Nice decor. Good old fashioned pub feel but updated to be a bit contemporary. Lovely beer garden. All in all great. Will stay...at the same hotel in future to make this my work local. One thing, please keep playing vinyl, I love it, just sort the skipping records.More

13 of us booked a table here for Wednesday and food was great. Took some time for some of the meals to get served, however due to the volume of us ordering we understood. Overall, good location & good food!

Not one of our better experiences here (see my previous review) On the whole the food was substandard. Although my hot dog was nice, the accompanying fries were greasy and had a 'charred' taste, the side of onion rings were greasy & soggy (you could...see it on the the surface). My wife's chicken tenders were also overcooked and her fries arrived late ( the waitress said something about a fryer issue) BUT when they did come they were MILES nicer than the ones I'd been served. No one came to ask how our meal was until right at the end, so it wasn't until then that I had chance to very politely point out the substandard fries & onion rings. The waitress simply said sorry and said she wished she was the chef. I said that if someone had checked in with us earlier Id have sent them back but that it was now too late. She said sorry again, and that was that.... we'd already paid and no offer to compensate was made, which if it was then this -ve review would't have been posted, as I understand that things can & do go awry from time to time, but it's how you put them right that counts. So, very disappointing guys. One last thing, be aware that the fact smoking is allowed on the tables immediately outside the open back door it probably will affect you meal if there's a slight breeze, smoke was wafting in and that is something that needs reviewing IMO.More

We came here on the last day of school to celebrate the retirement of some colleagues. They were very accommodating and we all fit in the garden. There was good service and they came round to collect glasses regularly, probably because they were running out!...They have a really nice garden that accommodates a lot of people in a group.More

During my stay in Kingston, this was my favourite pub. It sits just off the town centre, half way along the edge of Fairfield Recreation Ground. Definitely worth the few minutes walk to discover. I think it's part of a small chain of pubs called...the Big Smoke Brew co. Well, they know what they're doing, I'd say. They had a good few beers and ciders to choose from. I resisted the ciders after a couple of tastes, as I felt the emphasis was on sweet or flavoured ones. But I explored some great ales during my afternoon session, including a dark mild called Burning Sky and a stout called Cocow Milk. But what I liked about this pub was its friendliness. I fell in with some easygoing locals around the front window. Also the staff were chatty and amiable. When the barmaid's shift finished, she even went round saying goodbye to everyone. The jolly guy who took over was a fount of quirky opinions, for example that he drinks dark beer when the weather's dark and citrussy beer when it's bright. Much love to the Albion.More

About five minutes walk from Kingston's main town centre and railway station, the Albion is located in a pleasant residential area facing a public park. Upon entering, the first thing you notice is a bank of about fifteen handpumps on the bar. They aren't all...in use but a good many of them are, meanwhile the ceiling is covered in masses of pump clips - and hardly a national brand in sight. The pub is linked to the Big Smoke brewery, so their ales feature prominently, but there are plenty of other brewer's products on offer too. The menu focuses heavily on burgers and pizzas, although there are other options including a nice range of desserts. They are also big on Sunday lunches here and have special offer deals on certain other days of the week. The pub itself is fairly traditional but with a modern outlook, with wooden floorboards, an original fireplace and an attractive garden.More

Great pub with parking outside. Beer mats on the ceiling are nice. Loads of choices of different craft beers. Roast chicken was nice as was the vegetarian roast.

Saw the Tap selection when I typed in ‘craft beer pubs Kingston’ and wasn’t disappointed! Staff friendly enough and more than happy to let us try a few of the draughty beers on sale. It was so nice to find this place in Kingston but...for me it lacked some quality breweries I’d expect to see such as Pollys Brew, Deya, Verdant, Pressure Drop and Wylam. Big Smoke are good but they’ve got a long way to come on their IPA’s!More
