Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ok for a drink, mostly due to the lovely location but the food was woeful. My grilled pork chop and unseasoned mash was dry as old boots, and my daughter’s haddock and chips was mahogany coloured and obviously over fried. So frustrating when places can’t...get simple food right.More

My regular haunt, they always keep the ales well and fresh here, especially Young’s Special. Been popping in for years now and never been disappointed, they have a cracking team here led by the landlord Carl. Tried fish and chips before, always hits the spot...- Emily always bring me extra tartare sauce! Fantastic!More

This beautiful pub by the river is fast becoming our favourite to come and watch Six Nations games - the place was packed and had a great atmosphere, with the Guinness on point & the staff making sure the TV volume was turned right up...(just a shame about the result!). My sons and their friends seemed to really enjoy their burgers (looked delish) although they weren’t brave enough to try the eating challenge special just yet! We were looked after superbly by the wonderful Emily and Sophie in particular, but all the staff seemed happy and attentive throughout, great friendly service. We will definitely return for the rest of the tournament & beyond.More

Always a lovely experience. The staff are so warm, friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic too. Also, would highly recommend the salted caramel knickerbocker glory with the strawberry sauce. A lovely afternoon treat to have with my daughter on a Sunday whilst admiring the enormous...Yorkshire puddings on the plates of those having Sunday roast. I think we will be coming back with the rest of the family for one of those soon! Lovely view of the river and the boats and birds.More

A huge thank you to Ben and Bianca for making our visit so enjoyable. After a mishap in December we were asked to come back and give the Bishop another chance. It's a venue I love being right by the river it holds many memories...and the perfect place for a family get together. There were five adults and a near three year old in our parry who all enjoyed the food immensely. We ordered pork belly, burgers, and a children's sausage and chips. Everyone was very happy with their meal, leaving us too full for dessert. I highly recommend The Bishop for lunch, drinks, or an evening meal. With its river setting at night, it's truly stunning. Looking forward to our next get together.More

This Young's pub has always maintained a high standard, especailly for Fish and Chips which were excellent. A recent visit was disappointing. The time from order to food was around 40 minutes. Far too long. And the fish was poor quality where in the past...it has been exceptional. We had to send one portion back it was so overcooked. The staff are very good and the beer is well kept. I hope that this lapse was a one off!More
