Having walked for hours and in need of fuel my friend and I stumbled upon this place. So glad we did. The first good sign was that their seemed to be repeat customers and alot of them Persian. Service is slightly slow but can be forgiven to an extent (although it took me five attempts just for a glass of water!). The food is fantastic...the starters were the highlight, especially the aubergine dishes. The houmous was so creamy and their naan bread was so light and freshly cooked. The meat main was perfectly grilled. Overall a fantastic experience and prices reasonable too.

Stumbled upon here by chance after restaurant we did have a booking with fell through. I am so glad it did fall through because this was a hidden gem!
Waitress didn't know anything about wine, but the house wine was good and went well with the food. We both got a GHAFGHAZI each and the naan bread and MAST-O- MOUSEER to share.
Service was good, food was delicious (I am always a bit sceptical with lamb but this was really good: didn't feel oily or fatty, just good meat) and it was such a great environment for a meal. Naan bread with the right thickness and a great dip for the yogurt with garlic. Even the rice was so tasty and fluffy we ate it all up.
There are lots of other things I want to try on the menu so will be back!

I’ve been here twice now and the food and the service have been excellent. Highly recommend it. There’s some really different items on the menu if your adventurous and the meats cooked over charcoal we perfectly cooked, moist and delicious.

Worst barg I have ever had. Meat was hard to cut and totally unchewable, when complained Manager couldn't careless and refused to replace the food. He didn't even have the courtesy to come to our table and face us. Zero customer relations skill. The bargs were all sent back but were still presented with full bill, shameful. we left the restaurant still hungry as well as angry. Will not be going back. One sar is for bread.

Today we were in Kingston for a shopping trip and afterwards a meal, we hadn’t decided where we would go so just started checking out what was on offer. We passed many chain restaurants that didn’t inspire us at all, then I noticed Narenj. Never eaten Persian food but love anything Mediterranean so we walked in. Immediately we were greeted warmly by our server Neda who showed us to a table by a window overlooking the Thames, lovely.
I asked for a non alcoholic beer and Neda brought me a chilled bottle of Istak a malt beverage with a hint of lemon, it was really nice! We chose a sharing main that consisted of skewered lamb, chicken and minced lamb, salad, rice, flat bread and roasted tomatoes. This was so lovely, the meats were marinated and tender, all cooked over charcoal that makes such a difference as it’s the authentic way to cook this type of food adding a wonderful flavour. For dessert we chose a Persian pistachio and chocolate cake and Persian ice cream made with pistachios, rose water and saffron all rounded off with a perfect cup of Persian coffee.
This was such an unexpected pleasure on all levels, we are definitely coming back and bringing friends and family.
If you enjoy the flavours of the Mediterranean and appreciate authenticity served food with warm hospitality you will fall in love with Narenj.
Thank you so much Neda and your colleagues for a most enjoyable experience.

I recently went to Narenj with a group of wel- travelled friends, some of whom had been to Iran. We were delighted by the greeting of the staff, the table (with a view straight over the Thames), and, especially, the food. The waiter was able to explain and describe, with knowledge and enthusiasm, the particular Irani nature of the food. We were very satisfied by the results and would all come again!

Nice setting by the river, next to Stein's and The Mill pub. Decent outside deck, with good views. Food is okay. We had the starters of chopped salad (very small for £7) and the aubergine (tasty). We shared an £18 main that gave us one long of minced lamb and another of chicken. Filling for two but not majorly flavoursome: same dish in Mezze in nearby Hampton Court is far more succulent. Service was okay.

I’ve visited Narenj multiple times now and have got to say the food is very good. They have a vast range of options on the menu and cater for all. I would say the service could be better, a couple of times now we have had to wait a long time for our food (around 30/45 for both starters and main courses) but if you don’t mind a long wait for your food overall it’s always been a positive experience. If the service was a good as the food I would give a 5* rating. Would recommend.

I had the chicken on the bone with Persian bread. It was very disappointing. Served as just bread, chicken wings, a tomato and a chilli. The dish was very dry, no yoghurt or other accompaniments. I would have been better going to the local kebab shop. I won’t be returning.

Been here a good few times, as early as 2016. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Kingston.
Great value for money in terms of portions and the food is full of flavour!
I have something different each time but the Ghormeh sabzi is just superb.
If you're a fan of traditional Persian cuisine, this isn't very far off the mark, it's worth the visit.
Bonus is you get a great view of the river if you can get a seat in their outer area.

We had a lovely lunch here and sat out on the terrace. We had a nice bottle of wine so didn't really check the bill. We later found out that not only had they added a service charge but then charged an extra £10 on top of that. Our fault for not checking but watch out!

My friends and I really enjoyed the food and the ambience of the restaurant. One of the staff there was particular knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended us lovely Persian tea andessert. Their meat grills, and especially the aubergine dips were second to none. We would definitely go back again.

Hidden in the leafy Kingston, at the riverside, Narenj is a special jewel you have to explore. I got to know about the restaurant from a leaflet at my door. It was a takeaway promotion, but I decided it would be worth to visit, and was very happy with my experience.
From a very generous selection of the traditional Persian starters to the mouth watering mains, my dinner didn't disappoint me. My all time favourite became Momtaz - a combo of grilled chicken and minced lamb grill. Accompanied with a local house red it goes well.
Since then go every couple of months - food is always fresh and has a nice aroma of mixed herbs.

We really enjoyed our meal here and will be back. For starters we had Merza Ghasimi and Kashk Bademjan, two lovely aubergine dips with warm flatbread.
Then we had slow cooked lamb with broad bean pilau rice, and a green beans and lamb stew with rice. Both were delicious and filling.
For desert it was Iranian tea flavoured with cardamom I think, and fresh baklava.
This came up to £80 for two with soft drinks. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The view of the river with boats and swans is beautiful.

HORRIBLE. Worst Persian restaurant i have ever been to, absolute shame to true Iranians. Disgusting attitude by the staff and horrible standards for an Iranian place. Please do not visit and judge the food based on your experience. Lady waitress was horrible and had so much attitude with a sense of entitlement, the crew never tended to our needs and took forever to bring water. Food is over priced and flavorless. I hope the staff reads this because you are all horrible and treated me with utter crap. I really hope they shut down and make space for a better restaurant at such a prime location. SUCH A SHAME
