This is a genuine Japanese run sushi place. A true gem in the town of Sutton. Owners were friendly and always produce high-quality sashimi and sushi. We always have our favourite pumpkin Koroke, miso soup, salmon and tuna mori, chicken katsu maki, and edamame beans. Occasionally we would order tomago nigiri and tempura prawns. To end we always have a glass of their lovely Umeshu (plum wine) and sometimes chest nut ice cream if I can manage to find some more room! You will not be disappointed if you love good Japanese sushi/sashimi. Their sashimi melts in your mouth!

We were down to test drive a car. Staying in Sutton. Had looked earlier in the week - my lovely wife fancied Sushi. We’d called ahead to book. On a Saturday night. It is a very small restaurant and upon arrival they used my wife’s name! So perhaps not many book.
But such warm and friendly service.
Good Covid safe service. We sat next to the door which allowed fresh air
I ordered Sapporo beer and my wife a Japanese plum drink. The beer was served really cold in a cold glass - fantastic.
We order a sushi selection and then shared chicken and salmon teriyaki. Miso soup to start. All beautiful presented. You will see from the photos. Another beer was required.

I went to ii-ma for the first time about 5/6 years ago and I remember that it was just OK, and nothing special. However, I moved closer to the restaurant and decided to try it again just to see and can confirm that it has massively improved!
The food is really tasty and there is a really great selection of dishes to choose from. I like that it's also open late so if you wanted a later snack, it's possible.
One of the chefs is Korean and the wait staff are Japanese which makes me super happy because it's more authentic and it allows me to speak Japanese, which I don't often get the chance to do in the UK, especially in Sutton!
I hope they will start to offer a delivery service soon.

Cozy (posh) cafe style restaurant with lovely, friendly attentive staff.
Food is out of this world... and mad value. Anyone who says it’s expensive is clueless. We had a massive feast... we are big eaters and five soft drinks and it was £26 each.
Literally could not fault.
I had the ‘Wow Tempura Roll’ from the Special Maki section of the menu. And it could not have been more perfect.
My only issue is what to have next time... I want to try other things but I know what I had was perfect.
My friend had the first special from the Sushi section.

Always a delightful experience this tiny japanese restaurant opposite Sutton station is a must visit.
Freshest sushi ( and I live in Cornwall) The Sashimi meal at £18 is one of London's absolute bargains. 3 types of Sashimi + salad + rice + pickles + miso.

Since it opened and regardless of staffing changes over the years,, the food, service and ambiance has always been of the highest standard.
Everything is freshly made and the scope of the menu is enough for the most ardent fan of Japanese/Asian Cuisine to be satisfies.
Prices are very keen and there is always a smile from the staff, be warned though, this is a very small space so if you are lunching, be sure to reserve a table or try to avoid the local Office lunchtime breaks.
A marvellous and welcome addition to Sutton’s Food Scene and evermore shall it hopefully be so!

Shared a number of dishes including chicken gyoza, yakitori, tori kara age, prawn gyoza, salmon avo sushi, tuna avo sushi and chicken katsu maki. The fish sushi and gyoza were delicious and would definitely recommend. We would try the miso and a noodle dish next time over the chicken yakitori, tori kara age and chicken maki. These were pleasant enough but with so many other tempting things on the menu, not standout dishes. You can book a table, there are 6, but only for an hour. Felt a little rushed but this is understandable in such a small setting. Would have liked a green tea after eating but very aware of queue outside waiting to get in. Having both eaten in and taken away, in the present COVID climate my preference would be to take away as it is not possible to social distance the eat in tables in such a small space. They do however operate a one in one out system for take away orders and collections.

Very welcoming and pleasant staff. Beautiful sushi and sashimi. Katsu & teriyaki were nice enough but not wow and quite small for a main meal. Only 18 seats and lots of potential customers being turned away and waiting outside resulted in what felt like a very rushed meal - 2 courses eaten and bill paid in under 40 minutes. Would absolutely go back as the sushi is very very good but next time we would choose a wider selection of this rather than the meal dishes and order a couple at a time to enjoy at a more leisurely pace. Either that or return for lunch or to take away both of which we have done in the past without the time pressure experienced this evening.

It had chicken katsu curry and Hamachi (Yellow Tail) nigiri. Curry was tasty and nigiri was gorgeous! I took 5 different types of sushi rolls home and we enjoyed them.
Very friendly, relaxing atmosphere. I will come back with my family.

The restaurant didnt have the card machine working. Had to go out of the restaurant and spend another £2 extra to withdraw cash from a cash machine. Staff apart from apologising (and are polite) did not compensate for such inconvenience. A esteemed establishment would have handled it better.

Excellent food, great service, lovely little restaurant.
One of our favourite places to eat in Sutton, we visit here every so often and we always are happy to eat and chat with the staff.
Highly recommend.
