Same as always. Just amazing
After having been to Thailand a few times this really is the beat Thai around. I just read a review seeing someone say they were given a table and bland food horrible taste and service was bad. Never ever had bad food or bland food and also saw they was told table was booked so there was only half an hour. Not sure how food and drinks could be serviced all in half an hour and service be bad after some places I have been. Shame to right such poor reviews of frankly an amazing restaurant with friendly staff who really make you feel welcome. Keep up the good work.
Trout is a must and the prawns in filo are amazing too.

We were staying in the area for the weekend & visited on Saturday night for my husbands birthday with our two children (aged 10 & 7). The service was fantastic and the food was truly one of the best Thai meals we have had (and we have had a lot!) The staff went over and above and food was beautifully presented and full of flavour. They recommended the children to share a dish even though we were going to order two and as we left they even gave our son one of the transformers he was playing with! Would highly recommend this restaurant, it is very authentic ....a little gem :-)

We have been coming back for years to Number One Thai. It is our favourite restaurant and we celebrate our family events there. On Wednesday it was my daughter's birthday, which we have always celebrated at the restaurant. Due to the lock down we had to have a take out. She was not expecting it and was so happy to have her favourite food! Once again we were impressed by the quality of food, the flexibility in preparing "our regular meal" and the generosity. Thanks so much again! We look forward to visiting again in person. Needless to say, we could not recommend it more highly!

Everything was good until we get the bill. I saw them charging us £2 for chilli in fish sauce. Normally, all the other thai restaurants i go to offer this as a complimentary sauce and if they were going to charge me they should have told me. The server then asked the manager and told me we should pay. Then the manager came and told me she'd knock off £2 from the bill if i didn't order it. Then she started telling me this sauce is never free anywhere else and they all charge. I said i was in another thai restaurant last weekend and they didn't charge..? Then she demanded i told her the name of the restaurant. When i told her the name and location of this other one, she said "they will charge you service fees etc" I said you are charging service fee plus £2 for the sauce? Then she told me nothing is free because we are in economic crisis and they buy everything so i shouldn't expect to get things for free....! This part is really unnecessary and irrelevant. Even if that's what she thought, I have never met any hospitality staff arguing with the customer for the sake of arguing and tried to teach economics. While we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in the restaurant and all the other staff were nice, what she did completely ruined my dinner and my evening. Me and my friend left the restaurant feeling so uneasy.

We are apologies for the confusion over the charge for a chilli fish sauce we should have told you when you ordered that was a charge but you insisted that you just asked didn’t order however we did deducted this from the bill.

Completely overpriced for mediocre food. £9 for for pitiful papaya salad; £8 for stodgy noodles and £8 for what appeared to be ready made sticky coconut mango rice. I travelled extensively to Thailand and this is nowhere near what it should be...

My family and I love Thai food when it's authentic. Our family meal last night wasn't in any way authentic. It tasted like this restaurant plucked some random person off the street and put them into their kitchen and said prepare this meal. It's by far the worst Thai meal that we've ever had. We won't be returning....ever!

I was very disappointed to read your review of our restaurant. All of our kitchen staff are from Thailand and our head chef that owns the restaurant is from Bangkok and has over 40 years of cooking experience. I am sorry that you didn’t enjoy your meal but my staff always check every table and nothing was mentioned at the time. If you had mentioned to the staff it was not to your taste we could of rectified the situation. As you can see from our other reviews we are praised for the authenticity of our dishes and were surprised by your comments. Also the way you said pick some one from the street and cook a prepared meal I think you must have this experience before but bare in mind it is not for Number One Thai and I am sorry that it’s not suited your taste at all.

The food was delicious. The sharing starter was yummy and enables you to try a range of different starters. I always order chicken Penang curry and it didn’t disappoint! Chaing beer on draft and really attentive, genuine service - couldn’t ask for more!

Very poor quality. I ordered prawn toast for a starter which had virtually no prawn inside it and then fried rice with king prawns which turned up with 5 prawns inside it.
I eat Thai food every week of the year and this is the poorest value for meal I have ever had.
I was asked if everything was OK and I explained the above and was told "thank you for the feedback"
Disgraceful service and quality of food and value for money.
If you're happy to be ripped off come here!

I apologise you did not enjoy your meal AGAIN this evening, In regards to my staff comment about your feedback, I believe you may have misunderstood her intentions. All our staff take our customer's feedback very seriously, we want to ensure that we always and continue to provide the best quality of food and a services. At one of you visits, you've mentioned you do not like to be around with other people, we understood and were happy to open downstairs for you to sit alone, no problem. On another occasion, you've mentioned that you did not enjoyed your STARTERS, in which we took into consideration and made sure that every single starter we served. We've tried our best to be at your service, but I am sorry even then you still were not satisfied. I don't know who you are but you still coming to visit us, I hope will see you again sooner or later.

Great starters prawn toast , satay and then dumplings great SO disappointed with Chicken In Ginger and Spring onion and their signature dish of Green Curry both like soup no sauce more like water dreadful .
How can I make it better they said ?Well we have just eaten so don’t want a replacement . OK bye :(

We have been regulars of this restaurant for many years and was very happy to see them reopen as a proper socially distancing eatery after lockdown. Staff are lovely and always so welcoming and the food is really, really good. We’re lucky to have such an authentic, cosy Thai in our area.

I went to lunch here today. I ordered a pad Thai told the waiter no egg as I don't not have eggs. When she brought the noodles they were very soggy and clumsy looking when asked the reason she said if you don't want egg that's what you get. And she had the audacity to tell me if you want eat or leave and she took my noodles away. And she says every time you come you say no egg. I was so pissed and confused how else would a person convey their dietary needs like I eat no eggs or I am a vegetarian.The waiter was so rude wish no one will be treated as I was. Ruined my day. Sorry I forgot to click a pic of the food as I walked away as I don't want to be in a place that treat people so bad.

Lovely, small, homely and welcoming spot.
Tasted as authentic as you can get in the UK.
We had the mixed starters, spicy prawn, chicken and fish dishes with a mixture of rices (not Phad Thai) and it was all lively and spicey - with the chilli kick that most Thai restaurants seem to remove here for the English consumers.
Not expensive - will deffo come again!

We stumbled across this restaurant after our was delayed going home to Banstead on a Friday evening.
We only moved to the area a few months ago so still exploring what the local restaurants have to offer.
We were massively impressed with the food, prices and ambience of the restaurant
Food was incredibly tasty and good value. Will definitely come again.

Lovely little Thai, we visited based on previous reviews. We had mixed starter, great, followed by two salads which were very tasty (and one quiet spicy - ordered medium, caveat emptor 🤣). And banana spring rolls for pudding. Lovely.

This is an excellent Thai restaurant with lovely staff and an attentive manager. We have been going to Number One Thai for years and it never disappoints. The menu has great variety and the dishes are all full of authentic Thai taste.
