Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Family of 10 and the service was very good. Some of the meals were only warm at best. The mushy pea fritters were very good as a starter but be aware they are very filling. Tried the sea food curry which was amazing and will...be going back for it again. All plates were clearedMore

Arrived with my elderly mother to find lift wasn’t working and hasn’t for a long time so it was a struggle for her to get up the stairs then to find out they don’t do a pensioners fish and chips and wasn’t allowed to have...a child portion as it was against there rules so after ordering fish and chips and a fish they arrived to my dismay shocking portion sizes and not much white fish mostly batter then to pay £34 for the privilege was a waste of money and time definitely won’t be returning.More

Comfortable restaurant with an unrivalled view, the staff are friendly and unobtrusive . It is a very busy restaurant, even on a Thursday at 5pm which means they are clearly getting it right! We were a large table with kids, the prices are VERY reasonable,...especially for the traditional fish and chip style dishes. I had an Andalusian rice dish which flavour wise was absolutely delicious, but the very al dente rice didn’t sit well post meal, despite me enjoying the dish and texture of the rice at the time. I would 100% recommend this restaurant, but would also suggest they increase the options of lighter and more simple fish dishes on the main course menu, less is more sometimes and the produce is excellent! This would compliment the top quality traditional ‘fish and chips’ menu that is on offer.More

The best sea food place around the north east. Massimo treated us as Kings and Queens. The food was absolutely fantastic. Absolutely recommended!!

The food is excellent and it’s completely value for money. We had the large cod and haddock with the superb curry sauce and a generous selection of breads. We washed this down with two cokes and two coffees to finish- all for £49.50. The service...could have been a little better as they couldn’t find our reservation at first. Also there was a table of “guests” who were spoiling it for other diners with their child’s iPad making a racket, with the staff ( and particularly the service leader) trying to appease them rather than telling them to lower the noise. Bit of a shame as many diners were not happy by the lack of action by the staff.More

Fantastic food - it’s a little pricey but worth it for the quality. Lovely, friendly staff and the menu is excellent - combining traditional fish and chips with more adventurous dishes. There was a very rowdy family in and this caused several arguments which kind...of ruined the vibe.More

Very popular and you need to book. We had a wonderful meal. It’s not chippy prices but the food was outstanding. Cocktails were good too.

Had takeaway from Colman’s and have to say they are the best chips I’ve ever had. All the food we had was excellent - all freshly cooked. Can’t wait to visit again.

We arrived just after opening on a Thursday midday and were surprisingly asked if we had booked. We had not and got shown to the last table available. Whilst the table was not a window table it still had a lovely aspect looking out of...the brilliantly designed windows looking along the beach. We simply chose cod and chips x 2 from the extensive menu. My wife chose a pot of tea to go alongside the meal. The drinks were delivered promptly, but the food was 35 minutes behind and only 1 table were in front of us upon arrival. Naturally, the pot of tea had gone by the time the meals arrived. Not brilliant, but not terrible. It just needs to be better synchronised. When the fish and chips did arrive we found them to be very tasty and just the right amount.........all eaten up. we will return, but will book ahead in order to have a sea view table and also making sure it is not a wasted trip due to it being full. The setting is excellent and we also found the restaurant and bar areas very nicely designed. The staff we found great, just what we expected from such a venue.More

So disappointed with the venue after travelling a long way to try this place. The main attraction was the sea view that we looked forward to. We were pre-booked and were seated in a squashed corner and no view. I would describe it as a...noisy sardine tin. I hope the refurbishment allows people to have some privacy and space to breathe.More

Was lucky enough to get a gift voucher for the Seafood Temple and took my mam out for a luncheon. Online booking process is intuitive. I perused the menu in advance and went for the cod with chipped potatoes and bread and butter (more on...that later). Mam predicted she’d go for the scampi with chipped potatoes and mushy peas. Which is what she did. My cod was fresh, brilliantly white and succulent. The batter was light and crispy. My chips pleased mine eye and palette. Golden brown on the outside and fluffy within - these were triumphant. Together, the fish with chips were superb, and I’m eager to proselytise. I did think it highly unusual that the bread and butter offer meant three separate breads of varying size, shape and colour, rather than the classic two slices of white with butter. The breads (and the butter) were lovely btw, but my preference is rooted in tradition. Mam’s scampi looked great! Generous, plump and fresh scampi were ensconced is a lovely crunchy crumb. Mam was evangelic in her praise, revealing them to be ‘the best scampi I’ve had’. The dish included an unnecessary, and in mam’s case, ultimately uneaten salad. The Temple restaurant is finished to an above average standard and its clear clan Colman invested significantly. The panoramic costal views are such a touch, and there’s some lovely fish ceiling lights We didn’t venture into the oyster bar end of the room, but the centre bar is very well stocked for beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. Couple of points to note. Mam’s side of her table was sticky from tomato ketchup which hadn’t been picked up during wipe-down and our server didn’t outline the daily specials on offer. I’d expect to be taken through those. The salt and pepper condiments are poorly designed in so far as the holes are too small and therefore they easily block. I had to ask for ours to be changed. Colman might want to consider changing those. Other than wipe-down, these are small details. Mam and I were thrilled. There’s room for minor adjustments front of house to iron out some of the small creases, but overall Seafood Temple does a great job. We’ll be back.More

We visited today after a nice walk along the beach. We ended up waiting 45 mins for 2 fish and chips which is unacceptable considering it wasn’t that busy.
