I’ve wanted to try Colman’s since I moved to the North East and finally went on Saturday for my 30th birthday meal with my family.
I booked in advance and we were seated in the window, which was lovely.
All the food was really tasty,...the fish and chips were fantastic!
Our experience was let down however by the waiting staff constantly clearing away whilst we were eating/ still had drinks left. At one point, a waitress came and shook my mum’s drink can to check if it still had anything left in it, poured it into her glass and took it away. I know it’s a super popular restaurant and there are people coming in all the time, but we did feel like we were being rushed, even though we weren’t anywhere near the time the table booking ended.
When booking I said it was for my birthday not expecting anything or any special treatment, it just asked whilst booking what the occasion was. However, whilst we were in the restaurant another table was celebrating a birthday and received a pudding with a sparkler. Nothing was offered to me, despite having said what the occasion was. This was slightly disappointing as I’ve seen that others in the reviews also received the same experience.
We would like to visit again as the food was superb, but it would be nice to enjoy our food and drinks without being rushed.More
