Established in 1993, La Casa Loco remains an independently owned restaurant and has earned a reputation for its authentic, high quality cuisine, warm and vibrant décor, lively atmosphere and friendly, well-trained staff. La Casa Loco means "The Mad House" in Spanish and it's true - due to its unique atmosphere and fine, home cooked Mexican and Cajun food, La Casa Loco is incredibly popular with all ages - from couples to families and for all occasions. The restaurant has undergone a big refurbishment since lockdown, and we now have a bigger bar, with bar tables available for tapas. We also offer takeaway for collection only, which can be ordered via our website.

One of the best places to go

This place is always busy, we tried coming a couple of times before Christmas but unfortunately it was full (a good sign). We came here tonight and it was absolutely amazing. From the beginning the service was brilliant. I had a few questions regarding the menu and the young blonde girl who served us was more than happy to answer them and make recommendations off the menu. Her customer service was brilliant and made us feel very welcome. I opted for the tacos and my friends ordered the ribs, a chimichanga, a side of chicken wings, deep fried wedges, nachos & mushroom with chilli. All of this looked delicious and my friends both thoroughly enjoyed their meals with one commenting that it was the best food she’d probably ever had in her life. My tacos came served on a board with four little dishes containing pulled pork, pulled chicken, refried beans and beef chilli. There was also a side salad and then sides of guacamole, sour cream, cheese and salsa and you were able to choose from the fillings to make your own tacos. They were absolutely delicious and I couldn’t finish them but left feeling extremely full & satisfied. A lot of choice and for a reasonable price. We will definitely be returning and have already planned to come for a meal for a special event in the next couple of months. One of the nicest, most welcoming places I have eaten with a brilliant team of staff and atmosphere.

I love this place, visited plenty of times pre-covid and I was a bit worried that the atmosphere would take a hit but it was still the charming little Mexicana venue. Waiter was great, friendly, no fuss, explained all the guidelines and took drinks orders at the same time. Food was banging, we ordered way too much cos we’re proper greedy but it was lovely. Asked the waiter for the birthday shot for the Mrs and not only did they play the birthday music but it was presented on a serving board with happy birthday written in chocolate, couple of raspberries, pot of salt and a wedge of lime. She loved it. They played the Narcos theme tune after that and much to the Mrs’ dismay, I couldn’t help meself. I love this place.

Fun Family Restaurant

We visited on a Saturday evening with friends including 3 children. There is a wide range of food available and the staff were very knowledgeable about ingredients (and heat level!) of the meals and helpful in their recommendations. The food appeared at a good pace and staff were attentive without being intrusive. Everyone ordered different meals, they were happy to accommodate changes to listed dishes and no one was disappointed. My tacos “Casa Loco” were fabulous! A fun restaurant with delicious, reasonably priced food. We will definitely be back!

There were around 11 of us on Saturday the restaurant was very busy, we were offered the party menu and the standard menus were taken away! Is this really Mexican anymore. I have visited this restaurant about twice a year for probably the last 10years. Unfortunately each time it is a little less Mexican, and a little more profit biased. I realise this is a difficult balance in this economy. I feel you offer too many options and none of it well! My friend had the beef fajitas and the amount on the skillet looked half of what it used to be! The dips with them again miniscule. The number and size of tortillas smaller. The music isn't even Mexican. As for the El stako Mexican take on a lasagne. It was supposed to have chilli between tortillas, well yes chilli mixed with chunks of chicken. Really!! What have you done! Go back to Mexican and offer less choice, but do it well!! The puddings, yes appreciate that Mexico isn't so famous for desserts but they do churros? Quite popular too, and easy to make? I think you need to rethink and you could be even more successful!! The food was below average and so was the portion size( but this was adequate for myself) I also had a double gin & tonic that didn't taste of gin!!

Manager/Owner is rude and delivers terrible service

Myself and my boyfriend came here for a birthday meal. He had never been here and had wanted to come for a while. We arrived and got the most unfriendly welcome from the rude manager/owner and had to wait 15 mins for our booked table, which we wouldn't have minded had they apologised. There was absolutely no atmosphere in the place which is not what we were expecting and when we tried to order two rounds of drinks with the miserable waiter (owner/manager) he told us we needed to order food as the table was booked for an hour and a half after our booking time. When we said we didnt realise and we wanted to have some drinks first he was really rude about it and kept saying it said on the email confirmation. Also we got seated 15 minutes late so that gave us an hour and fifteen minutes to have some drinks and eat. Anyway we said we would order when he came over with second round of drinks as had hardly looked at menu yet, and he kept mentioning, even when he brought the food over, that it said on the email we had an hour and a half, wish was annoying because we understoof and we were trying to forget about it and enjoy what limited time we had there. I ordered the Slow Cooked Feather Steak - "A 10oz feather steak marinated in Tequila and chilli. Slowly cooked until it melts in your mouth then finished with the addition of a little cream and green peppercorns." The meal was nice but what was descibed was not what came out. It was feather steak and my sides drowning in beef gravy. No cream and no green peppercorns in sight. I basically had a roast dinner nothing about it was mexican. He never came over to ask how the food was and when he came to get the plates I said it was lovely but I dont think I got what I ordered, there was no gravy mentioned on the dish, i thought it was just marinated in chilli and tequilla, he then went on a rant saying it was the most popular dish on the menu and everyone loves it. I said i'm not saying its not nice its just not what I expected and he stormed off to get a menu but really that just proved me right as there is no gravy mentioned at all? Very strange and rude character. Will never return there again.

Another Special Party

This was a family party for my 81st Birthday, and it was a peak time in late November at Casa Loco there was a a big demand for a table. However all stops were pulled out to accommodate our visit early in the evening to suit our young family.Great service and food they even had time to provide Duplo and balloons to keep the Children happy. Fantastic food I had the Cajun Chicken in a mustard sauce, and my wife had theTipsy Feather Steak, all the family enjoyed the evening and want a return in the New Year.

Lovely birthday meal!

My husband and I came here for the first time this week to celebrate my birthday. We were immediately very impressed with the restaurant — the decor, ambience and atmosphere were all very inviting and the staff welcoming. It was quite busy, which we took as a good sign considering it wasn’t even the weekend. We had a lovely meal. The tequila prawns starter in particular was absolutely delicious. That sauce! My husband had the chilli chimichangas for his main and I opted for the ribs, both were delicious and the portions generous. Service was prompt and attentive. We opted not to stay for dessert but mainly because we were so full! My only comment would be that I would have loved a cocktail but couldn’t see a cocktail menu anywhere. There was clearly a cocktail bar, which I assume was a lot busier during non-Covid days, and I saw people with margheritas so will have to come back again to try them myself! All in all, we were very impressed and much prefer our experience at La Casa Loco to those at larger chain Mexican restaurants. We will definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends and family!

Mixed experience due to weird mask rule

Mixed experience - Always had great meals here and Saturday was no exception - lovely food. But, the peculiar mask policy means we just won't be returning again until it's over. Staff member insisted that I MUST buy masks upstairs and we were charged for masks by default. I was expected to use one but i don't have to by law as I have a government exemption and I don't have to disclose my reasons subject to Gov.Uk. Never had issues anywhere until Saturday at Casa Loco. This mask thing was never mentioned when friend booked online nor in the confirmation. Will look forward to returning, perhaps, when mask policy matches other restaurants or is gone and I or others don't have to risk my health by being forced into wearing one or being unfairly charged for one. It's a shame as I've always loved coming here.

Hi Warren, I am sorry you don't like our mask policy, we would never insist if someone told us they had an exemption. We have found that 99 percent of our customers are happy with our policy. We do say, and in capitol letters, on both the confirmation email and the booking reminder that masks will be required when walking around the restaurant and are available for purchase should you forget. We only charge cost price which from this week is 20p. I am sorry if this information was not passed on to your by your friend. It is already the law in Scotland for face coverings to be worn in restaurants and it has been our policy since July. It is a mammoth job we are entrusted with to try and keep our customers and staff safe and with Covid on the rise again we will not be changing our policy any time soon. I am truly sorry that this has upset you but we look forward to welcoming you back at some point in the future. Kind regards Shirley Gale (Owner)

Delicious food and amazing service

I am Mexican and I can say this restaurant is the best Mexican food around! The food is delicious, prepared with care, and excellent ingredients. The service is amazing: friendly and attentive. We were given some tortilla chips for our children while we waited for food; they catered for a special request on food; and they were on top of everything. We have been twice and will definitely be back! Well worth a visit.

Great Lockdown Takeaway

We were looking for a change from the usual takeaways and I spotted Casa Loco was doing takeaway by chance whilst looking for the mexican takeaway we have used before. WOW-really glad we tried it. The care taken in ensuring we had all the "extras" made it a memorable takeaway and we will definitely be back. Loved the little pots of salsa, cream jalapeno etc. Very efficient ordering via the site and was ready for us when we pulled up outside and opened the boot-very Covid secure! The packaging was even "green" which helped keep some of the dishes in good condition for arrival home. Thanks

Disappointing Birthday Celebration

Booked for 9 adults for my sons 22nd birthday at 8pm . It was a busy Saturday evening and the restaurant was full. Unfortunately we had to wait 45 mins for our table to be ready and then whilst seated, had to wait a further 30 mins to order. Thankfully the food didn’t take too long to arrive, but was a very average meal. To add to the disappointment we were then serenaded by some very loud drunk occupants on the table next to us, forcing us to leave quickly. I realise now that i should have refused to pay the discretionary service charge of £20 but was just in a hurry to leave. To conclude i would advise the restaurant maybe offers some accommodations to people if they are made to wait long periods of time. i would also recommend the restaurant takes less bookings at a time so that they can preserve quality over quantity. Overall average but could be so much better.

Covid friendly

This was our first meal out since lockdown began, we hadn't even had a take away. The covid precautions taken by the restaurant were faultless but not over intrusive. The staff were very attentive and the food was superb. This is one of our favourite restaurants and we are so glad we chose it for our first venture out and to celebrate our wedding anniversary

Great night out with friends

Once again visited this fantastic restaurant. My favourite dish is the feathered steak with a frozen margarita and cheesecake for dessert. It never disappoints. Great place to celebrate with friends and you can always count on getting great attention from the staff.

Definitely didn’t disappoint!

My partner and I had visited for the first time last weekend and we certainly weren’t disappointed! I’d heard only positive things about La Casa Loco but finally needed to visit after about 10+ years… The food was fresh, spicy and hot enough without blowing your head off - so flavoursome! The staff were also attentive and really friendly also. It’s incredible value for money too, I had to ask for a takeaway box because I didn’t want to waste anything! Just a couple of negatives (although doesn’t disrupt from being a 5/5). The restaurant was SO warm. I was only in a thick top and jeans but I could feel myself sweating a bit - there was another woman next to me also using the drinks menu to fan herself. Whilst eating hot food in a hot restaurant, it’s not overly pleasant. Also, the cocktails maybe could have had a touch more alcohol in - they did taste a little bit weak for £8 each. Other than that, it was an amazing experience so I’d love to revisit again (hopefully sooner, rather than later)!

Lovely Mexican food

We booked a table here for our first meal out after lockdown. The communication about what to expect in the restaurant was very reassuring, and it was great to see the staff with face coverings, and although it felt weird, again, we felt safe wearing masks ourselves to walk around the restaurant. The restaurant was well laid out to allow lots of room between tables, without taking away the usual friendly atmosphere you’d expect. The food is always amazing. We shared two starters (pulled pork quasedillas and pork meatballs) and I had a chicken chimichanga, all of which were really good. My only complaint would be that I had a little bit too much cheese, so next time I’ll ask for less! All in all, a great meal out!
