Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unexpected great visit. We set off to visit the Boat, where we were met by a dour faced & rude Woman telling us the boat is closed. We drive on a few miles & find the lias. Lovely, unpretentious place with the best steak pie...ever! Lovely warm staff & now weird ‘locals only’ feeling. Bravo.More

A delightful meal, sitting watching the canal boats, in the sunshine. The food was good; the staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our car on the car park whilst we walked our dogs along the tow path.

Lovely position and very quaint. Very dated inside which actually adds to its charm. Nice to see a pub not swallowed up by the brewery or a chain. Hanging baskets outside are wonderful. Staff were very friendly too. Its clearly family run and again that...is lovely to see. Unfortunately the food lets it down. After we ordered we were surprised that all our food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. We had the specials - Chicken and Mushroom pie. It was clear by the taste and consistency that it was made with a tin of mushroom soup and they added cooked chicken and a puff pastry lid. Whilst it had plenty of chicken, this is quite poor by todays standards. Portions were small and the chips were quite under cooked on all our meals. Our childrens meals were all frozen and put in the oven affairs. Overall the food was more like a take away cafe than a pub. However lovely for canal side drinks.More

Setting along the canal fabulous. Selection of rolls/sandwiches abit basic, need more variety. Tuna mayo roll tasty. Didn't find staff very helpful, abit abrupt (maybe the heat), couldn't bring salt and pepper to your table, get it yourself from the bar. Couldn't have lemon &...lime in a pint glass, no ice creams in ice cream fridge (told wouldnt sell them as end of summer) Disappoint with the staffs' attitude.More

We visited as we walked along the canal. We found the snacks to be quite basic and a little bit expensive, however, the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Beautiful garden with amazing hanging baskets!

We stayed here this weekend in our motorhome at the back of the pub wouldn’t return, we were on pitch 9 by the gate entrance to the pub it’s like the m6 people in and out and people not even on the camp site just...roaming around walking right by the door to my motorhome very inconsiderate and badly ran by the owners…no security any billy can walk walk round and that was quite apparent also not necessary the owners issues but they should be controlling it , full of geese the grass is full off geese poo literally covered…we went to the pub for a drink Saturday afternoon queue of 15+ at the bar with one serving, we went back Saturday evening for some food the menu is beyond basic, we went for the chicken balti tasted like a bowl of vinegar orders chips it’s french fries so why not put french fries on the menu , all the dishes come with french fries the food is far better at Wetherspoons ….doesn’t seem very well run as a pub or campsite to be honest just after the £s as cheap as they can get definitely wouldn’t return here! Campy site was £64.00 for two nights overpriced not worth it, food was almost £50..00 just get a takeaway it would be far nice and cost lessMore

Popped in for dinner, not very busy, huge outdoor garden area by the canal but old fashioned and uncomfirtable wooden tables and benches. Quite a restrictive menu, everything seems to come with chips. Not a proper pie - it's a casserole with false pastry lid....So ordered cattage pie, which comes with chips, potato with chips!! Also it's in a lovely location but in the middle of nowhere and does not offer customers WiFi. Unacceptable these days.More

We came here for Sunday lunch and we’re pleasantly surprised. The location by the canal is really lovely and especially on a sunny day !The lunch was a traditional roast. The portions were good and it was very tasty. The children all enjoyed theirs too and there were...7 empty plates at the end and no complaints!Wevfound the staff to be friendly and hardworking as it was very busy being Father’s Day and their beer pumps had gone down too!The young staff all worked hard and were constantly walking backwards and forwards to serve outside tables and it was a hot day too ! We shall return and hopefully be able to walk along the canal next time as this time the heavens opened!Give it a try and form your own opinion rather than take note of some of the negative comments .More

After visiting this pub and restaurant we came away very dissatisfied and disappointed. Myself and my husband both had food and drink where as his was very enjoyable unfortunately my chicken goujons tasted of fish/scampi and I could not eat them. Fortunately this is not...due to allergens but have still since leaving and coming home felt very poorly and can not get the fishy taste out of my mouth. I can not cope with the smell or taste of fish in any way and most definitely they tasted of seafood of some description. On asking if the goujons were cooked in the same oil due to the taste I was told no but that the waitress would go and double check, nobody came back to us to confirm or deny this. Customer service was non existent. All I could eat was the little salad on the side and had to leave the chicken goujons. The setting is beautiful so if you only want a drink great place to visit.More

The biggest roll I have ever seen! And it did just the job. The pub has ample parking and is situated right on the canal on Stockton Road. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, but being a Sunday many of the seats inside were reserved....It was pleasing that despite being a sunday, they still offered their full menu. The roll was huge and very tasty. Washed down with a bitter shandy and a packet of crisps. The pub was busy, and they were hosting a steam fair, but service was still quick and top. Overall a lovely location. I saw dogs there, although I didn't have mine with me, so it is dog friendly too.More

Food is hugely overpriced for what it is. A breading chicken sandwich was simply 3 small finger fillets in a batch at a price of £8. I had just chicken fillets for the same price and asked if I could have a batch when the...food arrived as I realised 4 strips of chicken wouldn’t fill me up. The waitress went to ask the kitchen and then came out and told me I need to go and get it myself from the bar and pay £1 for it. When I got inside I asked who I assume was the manager if I could have a batch. She fetched it for me and charged me £2!! The price was made up on the spot, when I queried this I was told that is how much they cost to buy?? Also when returning to my table after batchgate my chicken was cold! Would not returnMore

This Inn is in a picturesque spot, by the canal, with the slow life of narrow boats on the water, calming you, which is fantastic in summer sunshine but lit up - amazingly - for Christmastide with a myriad of Fairy Lights & decorated moving...scenes.More

A truly epic location right on the canal bank in lovely Warwickshire countryside. The location would be hard to better. Laid out as a typical country style pub alongside the canal. We visit this pub several time a year in the summer months and have always chosen to sit in the garden. A couple of weeks ago we walked from the Two Boats (Dog Friendly by the way) along the canal to the Blue Lias, it...was vary cold so we too the dog into the bar area and asked if we could sit inside, quite firmly we was told that dogs are not allowed anywhere within the building apart from the hall leading to the toilets and outside (No seating in this area). Needless to say we wont be visiting this venue again either summer or winter.More

We were on a short canal holiday and moored up beside what looks like a great pub... Shame we bothered. What are the chances of trying to get food twice and twice being told the kitchen has just shut? This happened a lunch and AGAIN...in the evening. Timings are not on display anywhere, no details on the menu at all... But no food after 8pm? Really? Never been to a pub doing food that seems to have such short kitchen opening hours... Add to that the distinct, 'you're not from round these parts' vibe, comments and whispered remarks from staff and regulars and it's fair to say we won't be setting foot in this place again.More
