Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been to East Beach Cafe more times than I can count and it is practically faultless. The staff are amazing, the service is excellent, the food is always of a very high standard and it is in such a wonderful location. I don't...really like fish, which as expected from a beachside cafe, the menu is focussed on, but there are other options and I have yet to be disappointed. Personally, my favourite is the breakfast, but the lunch and dinner menus are just as excellent. I cannot recommend the Cafe highly enough.More

We visited here today for lunch. It was our first time in the local area and so we just thought that we would pop in for lunch. Well what a treat it was in terms of views, service and food! My daughter wasn't too hungry...so she just ordered a portion of chips (but wow, they were good! Excellent quality and super hot) I had the french onion soup and as I told one of the staff afterwards, I could happily have this for my lunch every day. Everything was well priced in my opinion - £2.50 for the chips and £8.50 for the soup. Many of the main courses were in the region of £14-17.50. My only criticism is that I maybe would have liked to have seen more smaller items on the menu priced around £8-£12 or maybe smaller portions of the fish and chips offered. But overall a really lovely lunch in somewhere that we will definitely return to. Special thanks to the waiter from Australia - we were shown to an excellent table with a view even though there was just my daughter and I (this was most appreciated). This really is a place that does service with a smile.More

Nice location over looking the beach, good amount of seating. The food was nice and portions about right. Sadly the service was slow. Some tables not cleared. Prices are a bit high. One meal wasn't correct but a sincere apology and put right.

This is such a great cafe! The staff are all friendly, professional and nothing is too much trouble. The location is perfect! And the building is beautifully quirky, really fascinating to sit in and just take it all in. The food was excellent, we had...the calamari starter and this was cooked perfectly and a very generous portion. We then had fish and chips for our main, this was cooked perfectly, very very tasty, if a little on the small side. We will definitely be back!More

We were looking forward to coming back to this restaurant (last time in 2015) and were not disappointed. Fabulous fish and chips - perfectly cooked hake with a lovely batter. Great chips too. My OH had a lovely bacon sandwich - also with those lovely...chips. The quirky design of the building is fascinating as well. Definitely worth a visit.More

Right on the beach in Littlehampton and housed in a weird and curious building, lies an excellent cafe/restaurant. The chef certainly knows how to cook fish. My hake was a triumph, and fish and chips excellent. Mussels, earlier in the year, were mastered with ease....Friendly staff. Only downside are the Council's extortionate parking fees. Grab a free spot on the roadside instead.More

We turned up, family of 7. 5 Adults, a 3 & 5 year old, and 3 small dogs. The dogs meant we could only use the beach side patio, but the weather was fine so that was okay. The menu for outside needs to be...ordered from the kiosk. This menu was limited, but sometimes that can be a bonus. The staff we met were helpful, attentive and very polite. We ordered 4 crispy squid with Aoli. The portion was okay but was clearly freshly prepared in a tempura batter( none that pre breadcrumbed frozen brakes/3663 nonesense) the aoli was super garlicy (if that's a word) just went so well with the squid. Well worth a try. We had 2 portions of Cheesy chips that were significant portions of nice chunky chips with plenty of grated cheddar over the top. Food orders were shoutd out by number and delivered by staff to us when ready. We wanted wine and beer, but the kiosk staff were too young to sell it, but taking a validated receipt into the main cafe was easy enough. A nice selection of wines and beers are available and the staff where knowledgeable about each drink and very helpful. We stayed for a second drink and for the children to indulge in the massive croissants available. You really should try the caramel filled , chocolate decorated ones.. delicious. Poor weather could have made this a different experience, but the food and staff are excellent.More

Fantastic dinner with friends. We arrived early for our booking, table wasn’t ready (fine we were early) but we could get a drink on the decking while we waited. A bit windy but the manager brought out some blankets for us - nice touch. Cocktails...were all great. The manager came and gave us dinner menus to order so we didn’t have to wait long once in. - another nice touch. It wasn’t long before we were in and seated & ordered was taken straight away as promised. We noted our water was slightly warm. She quickly switched this and brought us a glass of ice. The dinner was delicious. Salmon pate was really fresh and Beautifully presented. Mackerel tasty however personally I wanted more mackerel less of everything else - lovely flavours but the star of the show was hidden amongst the rest. The service was ‘on it’. They didn’t stop but were happy and attentive throughout the meal.More
