What a gorgeous place in a wonderful country setting! The front of house team were very welcoming, the old building is hugely charming and the service was great! We loved the local rose sparkling wine from Upperton Vineyard and the food was superb and presented beautifully! We had the best time and look forward to visiting regularly. Thank you for... More

This used to be our favourite place for Sunday lunch, however our last visit was a bit disappointing. On arrival we were greeted by the manager who was very polite and pointed us to the bar for a drink as we were slightly early for our table. We were given menus shortly after being seated and the order was taken... More

We were staying nearby for the weekend and I wanted to see how much this pub restaurant had changed in the interim 20 years since I was last there - obviously it has changed hands and I think the layout inside is a little different. We hadn't booked but there free tables though it was well attended (a Friday lunchtime).... More

I have passed this pub/restaurant probably hundreds of times and never gone in. So, on the way back from visiting relatives on Monday eve, I suggested to my girlfriend that we should try it. Friendly staff, nice ambience, nice local and guest beer with a slate over the bar informing one of the style and flavour of each beer, a... More

We stopped off for lunch and ordered two half's (£4), a goats cheese sandwich (£9.50) and side of chips to share (£3.50). When the order arrived we both went into a state of shock. The size of the sandwich was tiny....one slice of rye bread with a few thin slices of goats cheese, apple and bit of salad. It was... More

Hello, I thought it would be helpful to readers to know that we don't offer a Sandwich on our menu. In actual fact we offer Open Sandwiches; which by virtue of its description is devoid of a top and therefore a second slice of bread is not required. We would happily have whisked the plate away, closed the sandwich and... More

We stumbled on this restaurant on our way back from the coast. It looked good from the outside although there were no cars in the car park. The restaurant was empty except for 3 people at one table, when we asked if we could have a table for two the young girl said she would check, she looked at the... More

We were travelling from Pevensey to Winchester and stopped here for half an hour. We didn't have time for lunch but the gentleman enjoying a beautiful-looking meal across the way from us said it was very good indeed. The staff are very welcoming and pleasant and the atmosphere, although the place was rather empty on a wet and windy lunchtime,... More

Four of us stayed at the Halfway Bridge Inn near Petworth and had dinner in the restaurant both nights. Some dishes were better than others, it has to be said, but overall we were pretty impressed for a gastro pub. Breakfasts were also good, although the chef had to be rebooted after over-cooking our poached eggs on the first day!... More

Description
Our menu bursts with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. Fish, game and traditional English and Mediterranean dishes. There is always something to excite the appetite

A simple but elegant decor includes fabulous open fires, with dining offered in a choice of intimate nooks. In good weather alfresco dining on our pretty terrace or in the sheltered garden is idyllic. Small group bookings are easily accommodated in one of several private dining rooms.

A connoisseur's wine list complements the menu, including local sparkling wines. Many are served by the glass to help you discover a favourite! A fine selection of Sussex ales is also available.
