We stayed the night at the Cricketers Arms. It is a fantastic country pub. Food is amazing (we both had steaks). Guinness was very nice as was the wine. The service was impeccable. The room was the upstairs room in a converted barn. Very cosy,...very comfortable. Highly recommended.More

My husband’s ham eggs and chips was delicious, and my partridge (roast with all the extras you’d expect,) was superb. We finished with a crumble. Service was excellent and friendly. There was a comforting warm fire near the bar. And the loos were good.

Being new to the area my wife and I wanted to support our local pub and had dinner there last night. The welcome was friendly, the ambience was just right. Service was exactly the right pace throughout. My wife had the Venison and I had...a Steak Pie both were delicious as were our desserts. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable visit and we will most definitely be back - one of the best meals we have had for some time!More

A friend and I booked two rooms at this Pub for a one night stay. The lass who booked us in was friendly and very helpful, we had two bikes and it was no problem to put them in the Function Room for safe keeping....The room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable with everything you could need for an early start if you were up to early for breakfast! the bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful (I've stayed in many hotels snd pubs and the shower here was the best !!) Dinner was excellent I wanted the home made Fish Pie and my friend had Gammon egg and chips...because we were chatting for so long prior to ordering all the fish pie was taken and I had homemade beef burger instead! The helpings were huge and well presented. Breakfast was all freshly prepared and nothing was too much trouble. As we were on one booking but paying separately it was no trouble to split the bill ! Of course the countryside is lovely and Petworth and Midhurst well worth a visit All in all an excellent Free HouseMore

Stayed there for the weekend as friends were getting married at Cowdray Park. We stayed in the Hay loft which has been renovated to a high standard. The room had all essential comforts and the food and drink in the pub was top dollar too....Our lovely host, Ruth, made us feel at home and ensured all our needs were met. Cannot recommend this place high enough. Thanks to all at the cricketers for your help.More

I had a really great evening here last week with some of my family looking over old pictures. The pub had keen and attentive staff who worked hard. I had a sourdough lamb flatbread which was one of the specials. It was absolutely delicious! The...other members of the group had burgers and other traditional pub grub. There were no complaints! A great pub that does the simple things very well.More

Lovely lunch this weekend, family trip after a long walk. Our son had the kids Fish & Chips which he really enjoyed, followed by a Chocolate Sundae. Generous portions which really filled him up. We had the Sunday Roast, perfect after a walk and the...Yorkshire Pudding was perfect. Good range of vegetables too. We sat in the spacious garden, great range of beers, really friendly and attentive staff. Would definitely recommend and return.More

Having eaten here last night I would suggest that the young staff could do with some training. The food was average and when the waitress took our plates away we commented that the potatoes were not cooked through and not edible, her reply”that’s ok!” I...pointed out that no it’s not ok she then said “we’ll I don’t work in the kitchen”. The correct retort should of been “ I’m so sorry I will tell the chef” Will not return I’m afraid.More

Went for lunch but changed our mind when the staff moaned about our tiny dog being about one foot away from us in the empty dog garden. Very unfriendly atmosphere - we didn’t stay.
