Staying in the area we looked for a country pub for a comfortable meal. The fire was roaring and the place humming with people. I think the normal patrons were away but some charming women were manning the bar and kitchen. Food was well presented and tasty - typical home cooking. We had the lasagne and sausage and mash. Just... More

During a bracing winter walk on the actual Stiperstones, we were pleased to break for a decent pub lunch at this well-known hostelry. Appropriately rib sticking steak and kidney pudding was only let down by the absence of mash, replaced by non-trad chips. The veggie pasta bake was tasty too (or so I am told). Slowish although cheerful service but... More

We visited twice during a week's holiday. The food was excellent on both occasions and very good value for money. The landlord and landlady were both very welcoming and we spent two great afternoon's relaxing in front of the open fire.

I hadn't eaten here before but the other 8 people I was with had and highly recommended the gammon. We had booked and a place was reserved for us in the dining room. We spoke to a couple who were having a cream tea there which looked awesome and was very nicely presented and they said it was delightful. When... More

After a cold winter walk this pub really hit the spot! The pub is very cosy and welcoming - lovely open fire to keep you warm. Staff were also friendly and there is a brilliant selection of food - so much to choose from! Our meals were delicious and generous - great value for money! Puddings were also super. Would... More

We called in here during the first eve of our stay in the area. There was a power cut due to winds where we were staying and we landed here basically to eat and kill some time ! How glad we were for those winds ! A great friendly pub / restaurant with great ales and exceptional food without being... More

My father in law is in hospital and we needed to find a pub that was dog friendly to take my mother in law to eat . My mother in law grew up in Minsterley just down the road so it seemed perfect to visit here . I rang and checked the pub was still dog friendly and got a... More

Fantastic, friendly atmosphere with a warm fire. Welcoming pub owner/manager and staff. Food & drink. Friendly locals. Lovely tea served in pretty cups & saucers with biscuits on the side. A* place. Great choice of food on the menu too. Cannot fault the place. Beautiful location to boot! We will be back again soon!
