Great Little Hole in the Wall! sits right off route 66, and near interstate 44. We had burgers mushroom and Swiss and a bacon cheeseburger. Both were great. The buns are spectacular. Also had some peach cobbler and ice cream and it was really good as well. Highly recommend will definitely come back.

We had stopped at the Rock Cafe in 2017 on a Route 66 road trip and were looking forward to stopping again; we weren't disappointed. The staff were friendly as usual, and the food is terrific. Try the jagerschnitzel with spatzle, which is one of the specialties of the house. If you're not fond of gravy, ask for it on the side.

Yummy burgers and awesome service! They have been serving hungry travelers for decades with the help of “Betsy”, their grill. A must stop on Route 66!

My partner and I visited here this morning - excellent service, tasty food, everything was served really quickly and it was reasonably priced. Our server made us feel really welcome. We are from England and this was one of our stops on our Route 66 tour. Highly recommended.

Outstanding food. The Ruben sandwich was amazing. Hot, tasty and more than enough for lunch. My partner had the Impossible burger (Chicken on menu too) and again, amazing. We’ve been to cities on this trip that didn’t have Impossible burgers so a joy to see one in a small cafe on Route 66. Owner was charming and friendly with a willingness to chat. A small gift shop is attached. There walls are covered in memorabilia, especially for the Disney/Pixar movie Cars. The owner, Dawn is the inspiration for Sally. Well worth a stop if you’re on Route 66.

A great place to stop. Burgers are great, don’t forget the fried green tomatoes. Make sure you leave a message on their chalkboard.

Been meaning to eat here for years but the timing never was right--finally got a chance just as breakfast was finishing and lunch was beginning. Place wasn't very crowded and the staff was busy getting ready for the lunch rush but I was warmly greeted and sat. Ordered country fried steak, mash potatoes, and fried okra--one of their specialties and was not disappointed. It was delicious. As more and more people piled in, everyone was greeted and seated like old friends--just a nice place to get some good comfort food!

I was so excited to try Rock Cafe and mark another restaurant on my Rt 66 journey! It's even in the "100 Essential Stops on the Mother Road" book (Amy Bizzarri). One of the best features of a Rt 66 stop is engaging with people, both workers and patrons. Rock Cafe, on Dec 29 at 6:30pm, was NOT such a place. The restaurant was dark and we couldn't tell if anyone was there. One car was in the lot, so I went inside to check. The waitress was rude and pointed to another table, saying, "See? There are people here!" That should have been my tip-off. I brought the family (of 6) inside and we got seated. From the moment they got drink orders, the wait staff (2 young ladies) acted as though we were bothering them. Not once did they smile or even talk, except to get our orders. I asked questions about items and the menu and they had no clue what anything was. The flippant and uncaring attitudes continued throughout the meal. I even got the stink-eye when I asked for a final refill. As we ate, I noticed the cook (dishwasher?) taking plates off of people's tables prematurely and did the same to us. Clearly they had somewhere else to be, and wanted us gone. We should have taken our $140 elsewhere. The food was good and we got free cups. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone, and the stop should be removed from Ms. Bizzari's otherwise excellent book.

Kinsley first and foremost thank you for making our very late at night dinner fun and memorable. We came here due to the Stories that these walls could tell. This place was built in the 1930's and has been a Roadside attraction since close to the beginning. It has caught the eye of the Pixar crew and the car "Sally" and the Paving Machine "Betsy" were inspired by Dawn the Owner and The nonstop grill! It also caught the attention of "Fillmore" Bob Waldmire even stopped here and added this location to his famous paintings/drawings (we saw his art and BUs in Pontiac, IL on Rt. 66). the preservation of the Rock Café before and after the Fire that destroyed the café has earned this location a spot of the National Park Services. On top of ALL of this Guy Fieri Also visited this location and ate German Spaetzle, Buffalo Burger, Alligator Burger, cowboy candy So how do we NOT stop. The food was amazing we had the buffalo burger, German Spaetzle, and Patty Melt yummmmm. Even though we visited late at night the girls were sweet enough to open the gift shop which is a separate building on the left side of the restaurant ~ this is a perfect place to get Rt. 66 souvenirs. We had a fun time talking to the girls looking at memorabilia looking for legs hanging from the ceiling and laughing at Irish folk Christmas music from "The Pogues" Fairytale of New York. Ohhh and we picked up the wrong size of a shirt we got and since we live in NY we will not be going back soon to exchange ~ called a few days after and the manager said send it back and they could send me the right size no problem ~~~ THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! thank you soo much! Again don't let Kinsley go ~ she's really knowledgeable and great at her job.

The Rock Cafe is an official Route 66 attraction (with identifying sign) now made even more famous from being featured in the movie Cars. Large 2D characters from Cars are on site and provide a nice backdrop for photos. The Rock Cafe is a working cafe so you can stop and grab a bite there. It gets its name from being constructed from rocks removed to build Route 66. Still has a neon Rock Cafe sign. We just stopped for photos but next time maybe we'll do lunch!

We were just going to stop for some pictures when we decided to stop in for lunch. Glad we did. Portions are huge, food was good, but the friendly service was the clincher! Everybody from front to kitchen staff say hi and bye to you!! The burgers were delicious. The desserts were also massive. We didn't have any room left for it. You can write your name in chalk outside and sign their guest book. We would definitely stop again.

Loved this place. Had to try the famous spaetzel which was amazing so my husband ordered the jagersnitzel and it comes with it as a side. We shared that and got the Cowboy Candy. It was fried onion strings with fried jalapeños my suggestion is to mix them together when eating and dip in ranch and it wasn’t as spicy! If your order a drink it comes in a souvenir cup. The outside of the place had some unique features. The bathroom had writing on the walls so bring a sharpie if u wanna leave your mark. They also use small hand towels that they have you throw in a bin that gets rewashed in the restrooms. My daughter ordered cheese fries but it wasn’t the sauce kind it was just melted slices over them and that was the only thing she didn’t like. Don’t come here for the fries though lol.
