Nice decor and good staff, but were disappointed with our meals. Perhaps it was an off day since we visited during the off season, but my crab roll seemed very ordinary and husband's turkey sierra sandwich wasn't super flavorful either. I added the sour kraut side to my crab roll, and that helped. We'd always wanted to try this place... More

Hi, I'm really sorry you were disappointed with your visit to my restaurant. I don't know how to respond as the two items you ordered are certainly in the top 5 in popularity. I can only try to explain what we do. The crab roll came about from my days in New England and the "Lobster Roll". We take crab... More

So had to try crawfish etoufee. It was flavorful, but, for shellfish, I'll stick to shrimp or lobster. Quite a large portion of those little critters, in a mildly spicy sauce. My wife had crab cakes, which I sampled. They were quite large with a decent salad. The presentation was excellent, but the crab cakes were not as good as... More

Thank you for your recent review. Sorry you weren't super pleased with crawfish tail meat, it's a freshwater critter that sweet and similar to langostino's. next time please ask for a shrimp version which you may enjoy more? I'm kinda shocked about the crab cakes as almost all our diners rate them as the best they ever had being 90%... More

My wife and I just had a tour of the Pacific Northwest. We visited Vancouver BC, Seattle WA, and several locations in Oregon. We enjoyed some wonderful dining but by far our favorite meal was Sweet Basil's cafe in Cannon Beach. The service was wonderful and the food was incredible. This is a nice little cafe just off the main strip in Cannon Beach. Their food is wonderful and they have several vegetarian and vegan options along with the usual fish dishes you'd expect to find on the coast.

We stopped in for take out, I had a pesto veggie wrap, filled with roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, cucumbers, spinach and other goodies, soo yummy and very filling. Came with a small portion of vinegary cole slaw that was very good and multi grain chips. Just what I needed after a weekend of fried seafood and heavy chowder. Hubby... More

There are a handful of restaurants within walking distance in downtown Cannon Beach, we visited Sweet Basil's Cafe at the recommendation manager at "The Waves". I am glad we did, we were seated directly in front of the kitchen and were able to see chef "John Sowa" in action. This was our first time at this lovely little cafe and... More

Thank you for your review and visit. Unfortunately at times our small kitchen gets bogged down if guests arrive all at one. I assure you we are working on a remedy. I'm surprised about the waitstaff situation and can only think that it might have been due to a rush and they at times really try to be as quick... More

My husband and I were looking for a good quality dinner place, without breaking the bank. I had the Crab stuffed Portabella and my husband had the awesome Pork Belly Burger. Both had flavor galore. We can't wait to go back again on our next trip there.

Although there are lots of vegetarian, organic, gluten-free, locally-sourced, non-GMO options, especially at lunchtime, this little gem earns its rating for classic Cajun cuisine. Excellent seafood jambalaya, shrimp creole, crawfish ettoufe, crawfish pie and two kinds of gumbo make for tough decisions. A superb pork shank over cheesy polenta and killer crab cakes make the dilemma even more serious. Often,... More

Thank you Mark for your great review. We'll keep the quality going and hope others appreciate it as much as you. I'm working on some menu changes that will bring a few more Creole dishes to enjoy. This summer we're planning on outside BBQ and more of our own smoked choices. Thanks again Chef/John More
