When you ask the locals where is the best chowder in town and they all say the Hungry Clam you know it's going to be good. The restaurant is not white linen that's for sure. It's old and could use a touch up, but the calamari and chowder are out of this world. My wife and I spent 10 days... More

Stopped in for a late lunch upon recommendation of a local shop keeper. Sampled the shrimp cocktail with its spicy cocktail sauce. My husband loved it. Shared a cup of clam chowder (very good and full of clams and potatoes) and the fish and chips. The fish was fried perfectly-golden on the outside and moist on the inside. Very good... More

My wife and I stopped here for a quick lunch on a road trip after stopping once before in the previous year. We shared a cup of chowder and I ordered fish and chips, she ordered clam strips. The last time we had been here, it was very good. This time, my fish and chips was a bit under-cooked. They... More

I don't like clam chowder that you need to eat with a knife & fork. Way too much bacon. Not really soup, more like really creamy mashed potatoes with bacon. Partner had seafood basket & could not finish any of the items. Calamari was chewy, oysters uncooked, scallops micro small. Will not ever try it again! Over priced, poor food... More

Great burgers, but ask for yours well-done if you don't want pink inside. We also ordered the clam chowder this time, and thought it was good but not great. It smelled fishy and was super thick. One thing to watch out for is the plastic soup spoons they provide--they are too deep for your mouth and will cut the edges... More

We had fish and chips and they were very good! I didn't realize until after we got our food that we could have tater tots or hush puppies instead of fries. Next time will try the hush puppies!

My husband and I ate dinner at The Hungry Clam and while the service was good and the food acceptable, it's a typical beachfront diner serving mainly fried seafood dishes with fries and slaw. Not recommended if you're looking for a good, relaxing evening meal.

I'm afraid our take on this restaurant isn't nearly as good as most of the reviews I see posted here. There is much, much better clam chowder out there. Perhaps people who don't live on the West Coast don't have a lot to compare it to...but I would never order it again. And my partner ordered scallops--poor guy, he sure... More
