I gave my husband, a longtime home bread baker, Ken Forkish's book Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast for our anniversary. It has become his bread Bible and has it ever kicked up his bread more than a notch! When we decided to visit the Pacific Northwest, this bakery was our first stop and well worth the trek to get there. The... More

We were on a baker pilgrimage and Ken's was perfect. The savory croissants were to-die-for! And the butter croissant was technically perfect and absolutely delicious! We left with several loaves of bread which kept for days and totally lived up to the hype! A true gem!

The pastries here are the real deal - flaky, buttery croissants, nothing excessively large but everything of very high quality. The almond croissant isn't my favorite in Portland (The Bakeshop on Sandy) but it is very good and maybe more "French". The breads are all good and so authentic.

This bakery is a must when in Portland! I spoke to locals who told me it was the best bakery in Portland! I have to say their bread is out of this World and I can personally recommend the almond croissant - the best I've ever tasted and that includes Paris!!!! Staff were great - the place has a lovely... Menu of the sandwiches & salads aviable written on blackboards on the all. Unbelievable choice of breads. Irresistible selections of cakes & macaroons.

My wife believes I moved the family to Portland because of Ken's. Try the baguette or ciabatta. I plead the fifth. 😀

we are kind of bread addicts and could not even think of visiting Portland without having a meal here. And indeed it is really worth a visit. Sandwiched and pastry are great!!!

While walking the cool neighborhood where Ken's is located, we were dying for some good Portland java and something sweet. Ken's is a great spot to fill this need. Our needs were fully satisfied. Barista's and staff were very friendly. Forget the chains. Go to Ken's if in the vicinity.

I ate here & picked up things to go since Ken opened and they were all outstanding (Jacque Pepin [famous chef/cookbook author] his daughter, Claudine worked there while she lived in PDX)...since I moved away, I tend to try newer places when I come back for a visit; but will definitely return here.... Ken has just published a new cookbook... More
