A lovely pub with really nice decor and the only pub in hebden bridge with bt sports! Get sky sports too and they'll be a gold mine! The staff were nice and even made sure our dog was catered for, giving him biscuits and water.

Decided with a husband to have an early dinner as we didn't have lunch today. We went straight for main course I had lamb shank and my husband hat cheese and onion pie. We both loved our dishes. The portion were substantial and great value for money. Service was excellent! Staff very friendly and attentive. We will return

The new menu, launched around September of last year, looks lovely. We often visit here when staying with my sister. However, I have to say a few things strike us; the first being that with a new menu that has a number of good sounding dishes, there's NO chicken! What's all that about?? We decided not to stay for dinner,... More

Gorgeous food served hot and professionally cooked. Had lunch time snacks soup (spiced cauliflower) which was no thrown together concoction but a delicious dish. Sandwiches perfect we will eat out there in future for dinner. Very high standards

The most unwelcoming pub in Britain! Despite boasting a 4* establishment, staff were rude and toilets had no toilet paper. I don't usually read reviews unless I wish to stay/eat but I wish I had before coming here. We were celebrating a birthday and as there were 9 of us we were TOLD not asked to sit in the garden... Called in today with a relative from Australia, It took at least five minutes for any of the three " Lads" behind the bar to acknowledge we were stood there, Obviously busy but the staff were honestly ignorant and very rude, we had a drink and left, on leaving I said good bye to one of the " lads" as... The food here is amazing!!! One of the best places I have been to all year! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. However we did get overcharged by £20 on our bill from someone else's drinks but staff were happy to help and resolved the problem quickly when we went back in to ask.

We thought we would try the White Lion again after being disappointed last year with the food. After all there appears to be many people giving good reviews of the meals. So we were looking forward to enjoying a lovely Sunday lunch of roast beef. It arrived beautifully presented, just a small amount in the middle of a huge plate.... More

I would first like to say The White Lion is one of favourite pubs in Hebden Bridge but....had Chateaubriand three weeks previously and enjoyed it so much recommended it to my daughter and partner and booked to go again. Tried ringing from Thursday onwards to pre order the steaks but their landline was out of order so we were unable... More

Description
The White Lion is a traditional coaching inn; with exposed timber and masonry, an abundance of comfortable corners to hide in, and always a warm and friendly atmosphere. Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards.

Surrounded by true Yorkshire history, the stunning countryside of the Pennines, and the deep ravined valleys of Calderdale; the area is popular with walkers, cyclists, country lovers, and those just in search of a contrast to a hectic lifestyle. Although nestled in the centre of the town near the ‘Yorkshire Bohemian’ shops for which Hebden Bridge is quite famous; the countryside can be easily accessed by foot straight from the doorstep of the inn. And that same doorstep has frequently offered a place of respite to many attempting the Pennine Way, or the more recent Tour De France cycle route. If sight-seeing is more your activity, then the famous sites of Haworth (with its Bronte Sisters and Railway Children heritage) and the World Heritage Site of Salts Mill in Saltaire, are all within very easy access. Close enough to the main rail and motorway networks, and just far enough away from the vibrant cities of Leeds and Manchester; the White Lion is ideally based for business or leisure.

And if you were to require an excuse to stay with us for longer, then there are 10 spacious en-suite rooms to choose from. The newly refurbished Boutique bedrooms, with Victorian Roll-Top baths, Sleigh beds, and deep luxurious colours; are complemented by our cosy Courtyard Cottages - perfect for walkers, dog friendly, and with the riverside literally at your front door. All rooms benefit from free Wifi.

Dated 1657, the White Lion is reputed to be the oldest building in the beautiful town of Hebden Bridge, which is renown for its independent lifestyle, creativity, and philosophy - the Yorkshire way! We very much look forward to extending a real Yorkshire welcome to you soon...
