Generally a good experience with service being outstanding except right at the end where there appeared to be some confusion and it seemed overtly hectic in the bar area. Having eaten both abroad and locally in many fine dining restaurants, ranging from chef's tables to small eatery's and having also heard such positive reviews about The Box Tree I was... More

After my partner had treated me to a five Star weekend in the Lake District, I wanted to return the gesture by treating him to a meal at the Box Tree. The food was excellent but was it 5 star and value for the 5 star prices , perhaps quite not . I can't not fault the food and service... More

Family Sunday lunch visit, set menu. All good quality but could improve, i.e terrine starter - a small amount of say, watercress or rocket would compliment and contrast the flavours. Mains .... the roast would benefit from a little more imagination, a clump of broccoli and a couple of tiny carrots is lazy, beef good, but not enough, same with... More

This was our first visit to the Box Tree and we really wish we'd not waited so long as we've been meaning to go for ages. We booked for a late Sunday lunch and found the booking / welcome staff to be most helpful and friendly. On arrival we were seated in the lounge by the fire, where we ordered... More

Another Michelin star "tasting menu" though this time less courses with more in them. Some amuse bouches, then bread, then I had salmon, a wonderful beef dish with amazing jus, a light pre dessert and the deservedly famous passion fruit souffle with ice cream to finish. My wife had the vegetarian option, and the highlilght there was a dish that... More

I'm not sure where to start. The beautifully selection of food really was different and exciting. The night was with Simon Gueller and Richard Allen. I have attached the menu which I think was inventive but British. It's the first time I have tried pigeon It was beautiful and the first time for rabbit a little like chicken. The owner... More

It was our first time at the Box Tree and it certainly did not disappoint. We chose the menu gourmand which I would recommend as all dishes were presented very well and tasted fabulous accompanied by an excellent wine list. The Souffle for desert was beyond perfection and I am not normally a Souffle lover! Service was very good and... More

We have been coming here for many years and despite changes of chefs the Box Tree has consistently managed to create interesting and delicious food. Amuse-bouche a froth of Jerusalem artichoke was perfect, Tartar of Yorkshire deer with egg yolk and pickled onion was bland surprisingly. The main course of Iberico pork was delicious. Finish with the souffle it is... More

We had heard so much about the restaurant and decided that we would try Sunday lunch there this last weekend. Four of us booked for 2.30pm and we were greeted like old friends - even though this was our first visit! The whole experience from start to finish was superb, we were given unbelievably attentive service from the very beginning,... More

We had a great time on Friday at the Box Tree being 'chefs for the day' complete with perosnalised whites. The opportunity to be involved in the prep and service in a Michelin star kitchen even on a quiet day was something which opened my eyes to the amount of work that goes into the meals we enjoy. The evening... More

Description
This small renowned restaurant has been a part of Ilkley since the early sixties. Now owned by husband and wife team Simon and Rena Gueller, the Box Tree continues to aim to be the best.

The modern French classical menu and extensive wine cellar offer food lovers an unforgettable experience. Simon's commitment to the best, freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on locally sourced, fresh ingredients from farmers and other suppliers, will entice food lovers with favourites such as Roast Sea Scallops, Celeriac Puree, White Truffle Oil and one of our impressive signature Souffles

The Box Tree represents a combination between 21st century efficiency and exquisite good taste. Whilst the kitchen boasts the latest equipment, the restaurant features a collection of art and antiques which define the style and luxury for which the Box Tree is famed.
