Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited with some friends and our dogs for a lovely Saturday lunchtime. The welcome was very friendly. We ordered 3 fish and chips and one chicken burger with some extras. The owner asked if the dogs would like something as well and kindly bought...some sausages for them, which they loved. Our food was well cooked and presented and the chef came out to see if everything was ok, which was a nice touch. It was very reasonably priced and we look forward to visiting again.More

We are locals to Wiltshire and we came here because we were in the area and in the past the staff and manager at this pub were very kind and caring for an elderly gentleman who lived in the village and I had worked with....The welcome was warm and the food fabulous. Highly recommended.More

Drove past the Rose and Crown early one Sunday morning and thought that it looked like a good village pub, so on the way back dropped in on spec and managed to get a table for two for Sunday lunch. Quirky spaces inside break the...place up which is nice. Service was quick and friendly and lunch was excellent - since when did you get six veg with leg of lamb? - and a chopped up sausage was provided to be shared by our two sausage dogs in this dog friendly pub. The large car park is on the opposite side of the road so don't be put off by thinking that you have to park on the road. We'll be back!More

We arrived around 7pm for Drinks and they were still serving Food as advertised on the sign outside, but when asking about ordering Food at the Bar the Barman was disinterested and saying they are not taking any Food Orders dispite the place was only...half full. Not a great Customer experience and better Staff is needed.More

What a great time we had. The food was delicious and carefully prepared. The ambience was warm and welcoming. But what made the real difference was the friendliness of the person I took to be the landlord. He doubled up as waiter and had a...quiet charm that made us feel at home. It made me realise how often that quality is lacking. This is a real gem.More

We visited this pub on a Friday lunchtime and were basically the only people there!! We had a fantastic meal, including delicious soup with a huge chunk of lovely rye bread, and a range of brilliant mains. The service was very friendly with a lot...of effort put in to ensuring allergies were catered for and even special food/drink for our dog. We couldn’t believe it was financially viable to be employing a chef. We had a brilliant time but we would suggest that a new high chair would be in order. The one our family used had a broken support making it in danger of collapse, plus the straps, clips, etc were encrusted in food debris . Yuk!! It was only this that prevented a 5-star review.More

We eat here quite a lot, staff are lovely, the garden is great in the summer and the inside cosy in Winter. Dog friendly. Food has always been tasty, but if you don't like your burgers or fish and chips presented on boards remember to...ask for plates instead!More

We’ve been here quite a few times, always friendly and accommodating and good prices. Sunday roasts are really nice and we also like the basket meals, great if you’re a little peckish but don’t want a full blown meal. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Popped in looking for great pub food and a warm welcome - was not disappointed. Lovely pub with range of eating options that also included gluten free choices. Great garden and inside area- would be good any time of year, including winter with the log...fire at that time adding to the warm welcome I’m sure. The service was very friendly and we even got given gluten free onion rings which we hadn’t asked for but which the chef had wanted to do to go with the burger. It’s these little touches that sets a place apart.More

Booked a table; when we arrived there were probably about 20 customers in the garden and none in the pub itself, so it wasn’t very busy. Waited a while for drinks and menus, then ordered a sandwich and a burger. Over an hour later and...there was still no sign of food, or explanation for the delay. Other customers must have complained about the wait, because the two kids on the bar had a loud conversation about the fact that the customers would have to ‘just suck it (the wait) up.’ Around this time we decided to leave without eating, at which point there was an apology with the explanation that ‘five tables had ordered all at once...’ If you’ve got a delay - communicate with customers. If you’ve got time to chat about your night out with your team mates, then you’ve got the time to make some small talk, apologise for the delay, maybe offer a small complimentary snack in the meantime.More

Out enjoying the sunshine, we called in to the Rose and Crown, Lea near Malmesbury for a light lunch. It was our first pub outing for fifteen months.. The landlord made us most welcome observing all the safe distancing procedures for our safety. We ordered...two light lunches which represented very good value. So two tasty meals, good beer coupled with the landlord's friendly courtesy made for a very pleasant lunch trip out.More
