Great location and lovely breakfast. I chose the Half English which was really good and the service was great too. What a find. Definitely recommend.

Started my morning with a long 12km run and spent it thinking about a tasty breakfast and I couldn’t have be more disappointed… this is the worst avo and eggs on toast I have ever been served. Two slices of white bread lathered in butter,...watery eggs and poorly presented. See photo. Some lovely areas to sit in, staff are friendly and coffee is good. Most food is reasonably priced. I also feel like table numbers would be useful instead of squawking peoples names across the courtyard, customers can’t relax because they are anxious they are going to miss their name being called. Jugs of water available on the side but served with plastic childrens cups, have to ask for menu, not on tables. Could be a much smoother experience if minor changes were madeMore
Thanks for taking the time to leave this helpful review. We do apologies for the breakfast - did you speak to chef at the time? As for the advice, noted, and we'll be discussing your suggestions.
We come here as a youth group two Sundays each month. Great friendly service and the breakfast sandwiches always go down well with our group.
Thanks for your support, and for such a brilliant review. We love having you!
The service was really not good One of my friends was given half a cup of coffee He asked a waitress who said if they fill it up the waitresses spill it We had waited a good 20 minutes for said coffees We had a...breakfast which was nothing to write home about but acceptable Our friends decided to order breakfast but told they had sold out So we had another round of coffees with an even longer wait and the same half cup Disappointing because this cafe used to be lovelyMore
Oh dear. So sorry that you were disappointed on this occasion. The half-cups was clearly an issue on our part, but didn't anyone else get a full cup? It would have been far better to ask to speak to the manager - it really isn't...More
Best afternoon tea we have ever had. Nothing was too much trouble and as much tea to drink as we wanted. Wonderful bonus was the music which we made the most of by dancing. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Well done Garden...Kitchen can we have more afternoons with music, lovely way to celebrate a birthday.More
Thank you so much. We had a lovely afternoon, and it was really great to see everyone having so much fun. Thanks for this lovely feedback, the team have been so pleased with your review.
Lunch time on a Sunday, we expected it to be busy. But, uncleared, unwiped tables, no menus I the tables, the only way to order was to queue at the single ordering point - so it took a while. The lady taking orders was lovely,...cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. Very smiley and mentioned that it could be a feinites bwfore the foodwould be ready. That was fine, it was busy. We sat at our dirty table and tried to ignore the wasps. The food arrived, and was delicious. The cherry gateaux slice was a bit small and no cherry was included but that was all. Serving staff didn't appear to notice the piles of dirty dishes around their customers, leaving the seating area empty handed each time they delivers a meal. Eventually, a good half hour after we had sat there, someone did start to move some dishes back to the kitchen, but the tables remained unwiped. So, food tasted lovely; organisation and cleanliness was a bit lacking!More
Thanks for this, even the negative aspects. We can only say we are sincerely sorry - it was a very, very busy day and we had a few new staff who hadn't as yet worked out their responsibilities, and the manager was quite overwhelmed in...More
Ordered a sausage and bacon sandwich with a hash brown to go on the side. When I had asked for the hash brown, they made a bit of a fuss saying “nobody just orders a hash brown when they could’ve just said no. The hash...brown turned out to be a potato cake but it was inedible. It was very chewy and tasteless and it didn’t look very nice either. It’s a shame because the place has so much potential.More
Hi Georgia. We truly apologize for this, and it really shouldn't have happened. We have spoken to chefs and made it clear that is mustn't happen again. We don't actually do a hash brown, the menu clearly says 'potato hash', which shouldn't have been sent...More
Beautiful place for tea and a cake or for lunch. Everyone seemed to sit under the gazebo on the courtyard but there were loads of additional seats elsewhere which were quiet and in beautiful gardens maintained by volunteers at the museum. Coffee nice too
What a lovely review! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this, and which is so very much appreciated. We're sure you'll come back soon!
I had a wonderful Afternoon Tea with my granddaughter here yesterday. Kay gave us a very personalised service and my granddaughter loved her birthday treat! The food was excellent! Freshly made, delicious sandwiches! Quality ham, tasty egg mayo and two very flavoursome vegan options; hummus,...lettuce and tomato, and bhaji, chutney and slaw! The scones were melt-in-your-mouth scones, served with clotted cream, blackberry jam and a butter option! We loved the lemon drizzle slice but we were both too full to enjoy the generous slice of coffee and walnut cake. Kay kindly put the 2 slices into a cake-away box and my granddaughter took it home for her and her sister. Her sister said that it was extremely good! Excellent service at this lovely family run café, with equally excellent staff! Kay went above and beyond to make it an extra special treat for the birthday girl and me! Our table was set with a pretty table cloth and the tea was served in beautiful crockery! Loved the fresh berries too! Thank you so much for making it such an enjoyable afternoon Kay and the team! Lovely seeing and chatting with Colin, Sarah and family too! 😊More
