I wanted a change from all the identical chain pubs for my birthday meal with my partner, so I chose this local inn. And I was not disappointed ! We found The Talbot warm, friendly, and comfortable. The menu is quite varied and has a few different items compared to the large chains who seem to think we all want... More

after a morning of hiking locally with friends we decided to pop in here for a well deserved pint and a spot of lunch. The place was very busy with a group of ramblers and with only one member of staff serving at the bar there was a bit of a wait but it was worth it with a good... More

Stopped for a quick lunch on our way to a hotel stay. Lovely old pub full of charm and character, we both had flatbreads which were excellent value. Staff were very friendly.... will stop by again

This lovely place, both inside and out, with a good selection of real ales, was a huge let down with its food and service. We were shown to our table and then ignored. After 20 minutes I had to go to the bar and ask what to do to get something to eat. When the food did arrive,it was not... More

The building is amazing with loads of character. The food was good and not too expensive, but the service was a little show, but the owners had only recently taken over and were still recruiting staff. We will certainly visit again when in the area

Since the long-standing tenant left here a couple of years ago, incidentally to a huge financial demand from the aggressive owners Marston's for so called dilapidations, it has struggled to find itself again with a few failures on the way. It was our regular haunt for many years with good local and further afield clientele and it almost became like... More

As other recent reviews have indicated this establishment is a Curate's Egg. The location and the interior ought to make for this being a great place to go. It is located in a historical village setting and has adequate off street car parking with relatively easy access. Unfortunately, at the time of our visit, there was very little atmoshere and... We went here today for my daughter's birthday - on arrival there were lots of swallows in the vicinity making nests in a little alcove in the car park when we went to look there was a little rabbit in a hutch - whilst we were looking the landlady came out and seemed annoyed asked what we were doing -... Second time to the Talbot inn and just as good. Welcomed by Alan the Publican. The menu is quite extensive served in a friendly atmosphere, recently refurbished. Good car parking. The area is in a lovely village setting. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good value at the right price. Will be back, would recommend
