Dog and Partridge pub on A6. Visited for lunch. Used Disabled toilet. Really needs a thorough clean. Handrails dirty, toilet brush very dirty. All surfaces need a thorough blitz.

Visited yesterday afternoon for a drink and decided to order from the menu. I went with beef bourguignon and my husband choose the mixed grill. When ordering I was asked how the steak was to be cooked and I was given the option of mash...or chips with mine. Both meals were very tasty and very good sized portions. We will definitely be back. The young man behind the bar was very attentive and friendly with it, didn't catch his name.More

We booked for a table of 20 for a family meet up. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We all ordered food separately so we could pay for ourselves and it all came out together. The food was hot and tasty. Tasted homemade. The...beef Sunday dinner was gorgeous. The beef was nice and thick and lots of vegetables which I adore. Most places don't give enough vegetables. I highly recommend this establishment and will certainly be visiting again soon.More

We came here today for Mother’s day, as a family and spent over £100 between us all on food and drinks. We waited over an hour for our food. Most of us got roast dinners which were absolutely apauling, the meat was literally just a...pile of fat on the plate, the Yorkshire puddings were literally hard and frozen around the side, there was very minimum veg on the dinner too, one burnt stuffing ball and a few dry roast potatoes, honestly wasn’t impressed at all. The lamb shank was very fatty, the mash potato was full of salt and was definitely packet mash. The chicken tagine was so bland and tasteless and it didn’t get eaten. My brother got steak and chips with peas, the steak was okay but quite dry and the peas were really hard. We complained to the waiter as he asked if everything was okay and it wasn’t, when we told him the issue he walked away and said “that’s absolutely fine” and had a smirk on his face! A waitress then came over so we explained the same issue and she wasn’t helpful at all. She cleared some of the plates away but didn’t replace the cutlery so when the deserts came over we had nothing to eat it with. We had to wait again for her to bring the cutlery over. There were still so many empty glasses on the table that she hasnt moved and still plates from the main course on the table when she was bringing desert out! The staff were nice and the service was okay however quite lazy with clearing the table as there were 12 empty glasses on the table that hadn’t been moved they didn’t help with our problems what so ever and we will definitely not be coming back here. We spoke to the manager who admitted they used packet mash and said that the roast potatoes were on Saturday! Nothing is fresh at all. I do not recommend coming here for food at all it is absolutely diabolical. I eat out quite often and have never experienced anything like this before I am very disappointed.More

Steak and Ale pie was fab, the best we've had in a long time. Staff friendly and helpful, decor good. No loud music, even take well-behaved dogs. Will come again!

What a gem of a place for food. Proper fresh home cooked and worth a short wait, with a great choice of fresh seasonal veg, tasty gravy too, at very reasonable prices, will be going back again soon.

Visited this pub for the first time on a Friday lunchtime with friends, one whom was a child of 5. The pub is large and airy and the tables are set far enough apart for comfort. There is a good menu with dishes to suit...every taste, plus a good range of sandwiches and snack meals. Between us we ordered a chicken nuggets child's meal, a BLT sandwich, an all day breakfast and a bacon and chicken salad with garlic bread. We waited for quite a while before the food came but it was worth waiting for as it was freshly cooked and plentiful. The sandwich came with a side salad and the chips that came with the nuggets and all day breakfast were lovely. The salad was more than enough and also included new potatoes, so I felt as though I'd had a proper meal as it was very fooing. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you, so all in all, the wait for the food was outweighed by the food and service offered by this pub. Prices were reasonable, about the same as a carvery, although some dishes are more expensive, so we shall definitely be back.More
