Went there Saturday evening on a football match day. Food was varied-Thai, Indian, Pizza, Balkan, Deserts and the choice of drinks was plentiful. Food served on plastic or cardboard trays with plastic cutlery which wasn’t the best way to eat. Because of the concrete ceiling and the musician it was very noisy. Couldn’t have a reasonable conversation. It was fine and suited our purpose for the evening. Won’t rush back but it’s is something different for Barnsley!

We bought a meal from the Khao Niew Thai stall on the evening of August 24th 2021. This cost about £40 for a family of 4. The food was good, but I was really disappointed that it was served in paper containers with plastic cutlery and I felt it cheapened the entire experience. Try harder. Also our table was dirty but no one came to clean it, despite the presence of a “Clean me” card on the table. Drinks from Cucina were overpriced, but we asked for tap water and got a jug which helped. Terrible music.

This place could be awesome with a few tweaks. Great vibe, amazing food with so many choices. The one thing that lets it down (only on Saturdays as Sundays is fine), is the time it takes to get a drink. Way too long at busy times, and loads of people just give up and walk out. The fix is easy. A few more bar staff and serve from all sides of the bar, rather than the one side they currently serve from. Sort this, and they are onto a winner. If not, I hate to think how bad it will be in the summer if it carries on the same way. All the bar staff are great btw, and work so hard. They just a better process. Fingers crossed.

We've been to the Market Kitchen a few times now and really love the area near the Cucina Sky Lounge. The variety and quality of food available is really good and the bar area very nice. Food is ordered at the various outlets and you are given a buzzer which vibrates when your food is ready to collect. Everything we've tried so far has been really good and I'm looking forward to visiting in the evening when there's live music playing. The only thing which spoilt our last visit was a table of women and children who were sitting very near to us and the women were allowing their children to literally run round and round and round their table with no respect for other guests who were enjoying a drink or a bite to eat in this lovely chilled out setting. Other families were there too and were having a great time without feeling the need to run around out of control. Please parents respect this wonderful new addition to Barnsley and don't allow your children to turn it into a play area!

Just been today on a Wednesday evening to the Market Kitchen, felt safe all the time, tables are spaced appropriately, all of the food and drink stalls have had measures installed to protect staff and customers. The food was just as delicious as we remembered pre-COVID and the two pints we had tasted were even better! Get yourself down there and support this place as it’s great! The floors and tables were really clean too. There was a singular table that had some cutlery and utensils left on it but these were cleared literally as we sat down on a neighbouring table. Staff were very conscientious. All in all we had a great first post COVID meal!

I went here to treat my kids, well what can i say, half a hour to get my food, the kids yes kids no adult in view ( so cheap labour) so they could not be bothered, and what we got was really dissapointing. I paid £19 for 2 desserts and 1 milkshake and ice latte for my kids. The portions were really small and cheap whippy ice cream on the plates. All i can say is the owners must be making a fortune of cheap labour and small portions.

Looked forward to our visit but left very disappointed. Bar prices quite expensive, only 1 card machine which took an age and was faulty, music too loud and poor quality, and when we were ready to order food some vendors stopped taking orders and others had waiting times up to one hour. Drinks were very good quality however. Never again

Ordered a starter of calamari on a busy Saturday afternoon. I was advise it came with nothing and if I wanted any sauce I’d need to order separate. Ordered some chilli sauce (Mind, there is no prices of sides displayed on the menu or online!) Don’t get me wrong, calamari and the sauce where both fresh and delicious, however later looking at my bank statement I realised that I was charged £5.50 for calamari and £3.50 for side of chilli sauce which came in a pot I could dip 2kg of calamari in not just 5 rings. Really disappointed with this rip off pricing practice, as this started cost me £9 and that’s an average price of a main dish. Perhaps £6.50 for a portion of calamari that includes a small side of dipping sauce would bring me bag to this place.

We attended Paul’s Cafe and I ordered some food which came with a hot drink. Believing that the drink came with the food I left with my table buzzer and no drink. After 20 plus minutes I went to the desk and asked if my food was ready to which they stated “ we have been shouting you”. It transpired I was sat out of range for the buzzer system. My food was under a heater and was Luke warm and when I asked for a coffee I was looked at like I was asking for a second … Advice for the staff… Not everyone at your shop has been coming for years …. Advise them to take their drink straight away Advise them not to sit too far away as the buzzer system has a certain RADIUS!!!! The girl who serves you should instruct the girl on the hot drinks tower you need a drink. Basic stuff ( effort) to get rite rather than blaming customers… Not sure if I would put my cash there again

It's a collection of different cafes and restaurants. We loved Jar Bar (Greek and Balkans) and Quack who specialise in aromatic duck. But had freshly prepared food locally sourced and completely delicious

Visited Meze Tapas restaurant for lunch. Not impressed. Mixed vegetarian platter £9. Stale pitta (some rock hard!). Tomato salsa tasted suspiciously sour - didn’t eat it. No glass, cup or straw with canned drink. Suggested I try the bar. Wouldn’t go back.

What a complete waste of money. Plastic cutlery that snapped as soon as you tried to use it. Bottles of water but no glasses provided. So two pizzas and two small bottles of water £24. The pizza was like eating Yorkshire pudding bland and tasteless. People walking all around the dining area and for that matter downstairs in the market Hall many without masks and no attempt made by any shop assistant or security guard to question them. Young men in their 20s not wearing masks! Most of the staff did not have masks on either and I love her so gloves worn during food preparation and for that matter I never saw any hands washed. Take my advice avoid the place and do not use near a pizza.

Stumbled across this when we visited the market below (Saturday afternoon approximately 3pm). A staff member recommended Market Kitchen as we were wondering where to go for nice cocktails. Lots of small food outlets (we didn’t the food but dishes that were coming out - kebabs, Asian food, pizzas looked delicious), very spacious, price of wine and lager reasonable, cocktails delicious. Good range of music at a reasonable volume. Lovely roof top terrace over looking the centre - can’t wait to come back in the summer months to sit outside catching the rays with a cocktail in each hand!

Market kitchen is great for Barnsley, chilled atmosphere, modern decor, fab cocktails and nice eateries - Thai, Indian, Turkish (I've heard the gyros pitta is amazing), pizza. They even offer vegan pizza which is lovely. Will definitely visit again
