We ate twice in three evenings at the Gwineas, when staying at the hotel. Our excellent experience on the first night encouraged us to ignore other local options on our final, third night. We were certainly not disappointed. The menu offered venison loin, 28-day Cornish steaks and a range of local seafood, plus 2-3 good vegetarian options. The wine list... More

It's quiet and the majority of the diners were hotel guests. The bar could be anywhere because it's tucked away without any natural light (it has a pool table). There is a nice terrace looking out to sea/across the village (which is where we ate, it didn't have heaters though which would have been a nice touch). There is a... More

This is the second time we have eaten from the Fish Friday deal. Three courses for £19.95 and well worth the price. They have struggled in the past but, on both occasions, we have had an excellent meal. The staff now seem to know what they are doing and were attentive, without being over the top. Good, local well cooked... More

We wondered why the hotel so so quiet during half term - then we found out! We ordered 2 meals which the menu said came with hand cut chips. When they arrived after a wait they were obviously frozen skinny fries. No cutlery - we had to go and ask then had to wait for it to arrive by which... More

Great choice of food and you can pick and choose from both menus - bar and bistro. Service very good and professional.

It sounded good on the menu but very mediocre. One person said "that was the worst burger & chips I have ever eaten. All I can taste is the cooking oil." The young lad who was doing the waiting wandered around with his hands in his pockets sighing deeply as though it was all too much for him.

I didn't post a review last time I ate here, as I knew they were trying to improve. This time We bought relatives & had a three course meal in the restaurant. The staff were better trained. They were friendly and attentive and had more knowledge of the food on the menu. The food, on the whole, was tasty, especially... More
