The highlight of our holiday in Cornwall. From the beautiful outside seating area, the brilliant service, the relaxing ambiance to the gorgeous food, we thoroughly enjoyed every second of our visit to The Old Mill. Everything we ordered was beautifully cooked and as fresh as it could be. I would recommend visiting this lovely restaurant if you fancy good quality food in beautiful surroundings- and without the Padstow price tag!

We went to The old Mill Bistro last night . It has a lovely garden . Had a local gin and choose our food my husband had the Cornish Crab and I had the scallops , one of my daughters had Munkfish Scampi, all were delicious. For the main we had A steak, Hake, pork wrapped in Pancetta and a pasta dish , they were all served beautifully and tasted wonderful. The staff are efficient, friendly but not in your face. We were recommended a local white Cornish wine from near by which was fresh , dry and easy to drink. We had 3 desserts all good and a coffee and the Bill was reasonable £140. A must try if your next Padstow.

We were staying here for a couple of night and opted to eat in the hotel. The food was imaginative and delicious. I had steak and it was cooked to perfection. We were given complementary bread which was absolutely stunning and the nicest bread I think I have ever eaten. When we commented on this the chef came out to see us to thank us for our comments. How lovely! The food was interesting and all locally sourced. There is a large map on the wall showing where the food has come from. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The wine selection was good and reasonably priced. A great meal of great quality and whilst it wasn’t the cheapest meal you pay for what you get. Delicious!

My wife and I had a fantastic meal here on Thursday night. The food was fantastic with intense flavours and very generous portion sizes. The scallops were delicious, the steak was perfect and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. I will probably not be back in Cornwall for a long time but if I was I would come again. We felt well looked after by the staff and it was clear this is a restaurant that cares about delivering an excellent customer experience. Serving local ciders and a range of ales and wines this is a great place for any couple wanting a great meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel instantly at home. Covid guidelines followed perfectly throughout, I couldn't fault it and wanted to leave this review to say thank you as it was by far the best meal we had all week and made our last night feel special.

Well here we go, gotta be honest, when we arrived at “The Old Mill” for our overnight stay, I popped my head around the corner and looked in the Bistro, it looked dark, and uninviting, it was not open and there were no lights on. I was not quite sure what I thought.
What a difference a couple of hours make!
Came down for our evening meal and the place had been totally transformed, subtle lighting giving a lovely atmospheric glow, tables laid and ready to go.
This is a very nice intimate Bistro/restaurant, the service is absolutely superb, and the food is to die for.
There were four of us dining and we shared some scallops and olives, along with the most delicious bread I have had in many a year.
Then three of us had fillet steaks that were cooked to perfection along with a pepper sauce, the last person in our party had the sea bass, again, superb.
What a lovely find, many thanks to all the staff and management that made our evening so enjoyable.
Would I go back, well I did ask about booking a room for around the same time next year.

We booked a table at The Old Mill Bistro as we wanted a nice family meal on our holiday and we were not disappointed!
On arrival we were greeted by a friendly waitress who took us to our table, the waitress informed us that our table was ours for the whole night so we didn’t need to rush which we found was a nice touch as we could relax and take our time.
Whilst the waitress took our drinks order she gave us the option of enjoying some time outside in the garden before our meal or if we wanted to stay inside. Seeing as it was a nice evening we opted to sit outside and again, we were not disappointed. The garden is peaceful and was full of beautiful plants and flowers and a lovely stream beside next to where we were sitting.
The meal itself was phenomenal! All 5 of us chose to have 3 courses as we enjoyed it that much. The menu offers a variety of things even though it consists of around 5 or so options per course and all ingredients used are locally sourced which we thought was nice, there’s a board on the wall showing you this which we all found really informative!
The staff, the restaurant and the food were all lovely and we would definitely recommend booking here, if we return to Cornwall in the future we will be returning to the Old Mill as it was the best food we had all tasted in a long while!

Fantastic food and fantastic staff. We were really looked after at The Old Mill Bistro, the menu was simple and yet there was much to choose from. Each dish was well presented, everything looked so beautiful. Everyone in the family group enjoyed their food, I particularly enjoyed the Monkfish Scampi starter which was served with an oriental style sauce and it was delicious. We all ended the meal with the sticky toffee pudding which was even brought out by the chef, who should be so proud of his fantastic work. Top marks all round, we will recommend and come again. Make sure you book in advance!

We contacted this Bistro via telephone and by email as we were staying nearby and hoped to have A Sunday lunch as there were boards outside advertising . We didn't hear anything back at all. I was so disappointed. They couldn't even be bothered to tell us they weren't open.

This is the sort of reply that frustrates small business owners, considering the current climate reviews like this can have a very detrimental effect on our very existence. I am a sole trader and as such I am responsible for every aspect of running my business, it will have been me that did not reply to your email or missed your voicemail. I fully accept that I make mistakes and do my absolute very best to make sure every customer, or potential customer is as happy as they can be with their experience here. Perhaps you could let me know your name, or the date you were looking to eat so I can find out what went wrong and at least provide an explanation and defend my business.

From the beautiful garden with comfy seating by the river for your pre dinner drinks to the fresh artisan bread on your table, this restaurant does not disappoint.
The food and drink is all locally sourced and there is a black board in the restaurant showing where in Cornwall all their produce is sourced and it is all within a drive of the restaurant.
This enabled us to go and buy the wine and cider from the local vineyard which was divine; and meat from the nearby butchers. Supporting local!
The food was well priced with a good menu selection. The service was superb and, well, what can I say, the food was cooked well, nicely presented and tasted amazing and the sticky toffee pudding was heavenly!
I would certainly recommend this restaurant and would 100% visit again!

What can I say that hasn't already been said in other reviews?
We arrived a little late following problems with closed Cornish roads but were welcomed and asked if we would like to take a drink in the garden before eating. It's a lovely garden.
The staff were helpful and attentive but not over attentive. They were happy to discuss the menu with us and made some excellent recommendations.
The atmosphere inside was good and one could easily have a conversation at the table without disturbing other guests. Sadly that's not always possible in many restaurants today.
The food was superb. We all followed the waitresses' recommendation for the main course and chose the hake which was delicious. We varied our starters and shared them and whilst three of us chose different deserts they were prepared to make me a custom desert provided it was made up of parts of the other deserts on the menu.
There is a church car park opposite which is available for use if you are dining at the restaurant.
They told me that they were booked up for several weeks ahead so book before you travel if you don't want to be disappointed.
I would recommend the Old Mill and will visit again next time I'm in the area.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful bed and breakfast and booked the bistro for our nights away. I am so glad we did, apparently the locals can’t get to book as their reputation for quality, fresh and reasonably priced menu is so popular. We were amazed at the finesse of the food served within the bistro. We had the scallops and monkfish scampi to start which were stunning, followed by fillet steak which was the best and cooked to perfection. We just wish we lived nearer. Thank you Adam and your team

Booked one evening during half term week. Took Covid issues very seriously. Waiting staff were great. Ordered monkfish scampi for starter and Cornish hake on crushed cornish potatoes for main. Both were lovely, beautifully presented and very tasty. My daughter had duck salad and fillet steak both were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend. They have a beautiful garden at the side of the creek and would love to visit during daylight to see it properly although it was lit up with garden lighting.

We were staying at the old Mill, I would extremely advise booking a table in advance as the food is amazing at this little gem of a restaurant. The chef Adam is very skilled in combining technique and flavours for great dishes. We had a great meal here.
The setting is very relaxing and idyllic, all serving staff were very attentive and professional.

My family took me to the Old Mill for my 30th birthday and we had the best time. The food was outstanding and the team could not have been more friendly and helpful - they even baked me my own birthday cake. Everything was so delicious.
We sat in the garden by the stream it and it was the most tranquil and beautiful setting.
We will definitely be visiting the Old Mill again when we are next in Cornwall and couldn't recommend more highly.

The Old Mill House is a great friendly B&B in the Padstow area and I highly recommend it and will always book when we are in the area. We stayed there last month for 3 nights and the service was exceptional. The setting for the rooms and Old Mill Restaurant are very attractive and characterful. The owners really do go the extra mile in all aspects both accommodation and eating. The breakfasts have a great selection and cooked to perfection. A warning though the restaurant is very popular and I would recommend you book an evening meal well in advance.
