Some people here have mentioned the 'old fashioned' side-salads served with the meals. In a way they're right; but I think they are missing the point. Actually it's really nice to have something more normal when out and about, and not something that tries to look overly sophisticated. I watched the owner buying fresh mackerel and crabs direct from the... More

We had a really warm welcome, despite having 2 dogs, and were promptly offered menus and bonios. I had the trio of fish which was beautifully cooked, and my husband had crab salad. Crab was great but salad was just a few leaves and some iceberg. Goujons were also really good. And reasonably priced, too.

With just a few diners in for lunch at midday, we waited 10 minutes after being given the menus to place our order. After waiting a further 30 minutes, a lady who came in after us complained to the staff at the long wait for her lunch. I then also complained at the wait, asking how long does it take to... More

There seemed to bve lots of fish courses on the menu, so we thought we'd try it. It was a very enjoyable meal. Calamari with a very light batter were excellent. We returned the following evening, and once again enjoyed our meal. Excellent, big scallops with spicy sausage, then linguine with a great deal of lobster in it, which I... More

Now under new ownership, Good service, with a great range of dishes. surf and turf was divine and the scallops were perfectly cooked. moules mariniere with granary bread was excellent, with the muscles locally sourced from nearby Fowey, well worth a visit and highly recomended.

Came here for lunch today, from the outside it looks like it could do with a spruce up. Inside is charming , designed to look like the inside of a boat , really well done. Service from start to finish was excellent. Offered alternative tables, orders taken at the table for both drinks and food. On talking to the other... More

Called in to the Wheel House this evening. I've been before and had a good meal. This time was just perfect. We sat outside, literally on the harbour, and ate fish and chips. Corny I know but it was lovely, sat there with the fishing boats a few feet away as the sun went down. Cornwall at its best.

Very good pub style food. Generous portions. Fish fingers (homemade) in a sandwich, Good burger, excellent risotto and sandwiches. Staff were very helpful in helping my two disabled elderly parents in and reorganising seating for us. Good service and lovely, reasonably priced fresh food.

A little too oldy worldy themed for my taste. The fish I ate was lovely and perfectly cooked but accompanying salad was very 1983 iceburg lettuce, pepper & red onion. Staff were nice and friendly and 80 year old father loved it so not all bad.
