Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I regularly pop in for a coffee or some lunch. The coffee is the best around, so smooth. Staff always friendly. Food always tasty and always lovely cakes on offer. They have books for sale also, i bought two for £2. Such a lovely coffee shop. Ps, they do a loyalty card as well.

Popped in for lunch with my partner and 7 month old, she felt comfortable feeding the little one. I had the peanut stew with rice which I have never had before, it was delicious! My partner had a goats cheese and pesto flat bread which was also very tasty. The place itself is comfortable with books lining the walls that you can pick up and read, definitely a readers paradise! Even though it was busy service was excellent.

Very good coffee and says that it is Fairtrade on the wall. The sugar was Fairtrade, but, when I asked what else was Fairtrade, they were not sure! A very good experience. The baguettes were good. The cakes looked very good - perhaps next time. Fairtrade is important to us and was a reason for choosing this coffee shop, so I hope they are more informed about it next time.

On my visit from South Africa it was lovely to wander into this cosy little gem. The owner was so welcoming and we enjoyed a wonderful cup of coffee and yummy carrot cake. There was a great selection and we enjoyed paging through racks of books to enjoy while you sip your coffee or if you fancy something to buy all books are £1!

I visit this cafe regularly, brilliant chai latte and lemon drizzle cake although the cakes and drinks menu is extensive. Free WiFi, books to read while you drink and relax - enjoy the book and take it with you for a pound. Seating inside and outside. Reading some of these reviews that say the drink wasnt hot enough I know that is if you informed the great staff at the time they would have made you another one. Bonus is the loyalty card. No faults

Quick pit stop before getting on with the jobs I was meant to be doing. Lovely coffee, nice cake and service with a smile. Definitely a good distraction from running errands.

We ventured here on St Pirans day for breakfast. Staff milling around not being managed well. Sat with the pooch inside, whoops mistake no dogs so we sat in the cold outside. We ordered two baguettes one bacon, one chicken. Mine was nice enough but my son has a number of mental issues....he didn't like his. I know it's best to get off the table anything he doesn't like so as soon as the very nice young lad caught my eye, I politely asked if it could be taken away, to much butter....I was asked if we wished for a replacement, no honestly it's fine not needing to make it a thing. Job done, disaster avoided......oh no...Mr owner Comes crashing in with a heavy hand not seen outside Fawlty Towers, who he barked ordered the chicken...I tasted it it was fine but here he literally stuffed a fiver in to my now very bewildered sons hand. I curl up, this could just tip him, I bite my lip I say I didn't ask for a refund please it's fine....on his heel he turns...job done, stoopid customer told. So thank you, that nearly invoked a melt down, we donated your fiver, we will not ever be back. I own a cafe in Cornwall, I live in Cornwall dont assume anything about your customers just treat them with respect, deliver service and keep smiling

I regularly visit Home Ground for coffee and cake, or a light lunch and I'm never disappointed. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and they sell second hand books... Bonus!

This is a gem in the heart of Redruth, heart of Britain's tin mining history. Beautiful cream pastry as good as one I had in Lisbon, washed down with a great cup of Latte. Good welcome from nice staff you can sit outside in one of many comfortable chairs & tables - do yourself a favour and get down there at the bottom of Fore Street.

So good to be able to return to Home Ground after lockdown. Ok, so due to shielding, we have to sit outdoors but it doesn't take away the fact that the coffee is still the best in town, along with the cakes and bacon baguette. The welcome is still as friendly as always. The friendly indoor atmosphere has spread outdoors. Thank you John and all your staff.

Visited today as a family as just moved into the area, our first venture into the town couldn't of asked for a better start with lunch and coffee

I visit here for good coffee, delicious food and friendly service on a regular basis and have never been disappointed. Unfortunately I am so hooked on the excellent goats cheese and beetroot salad that I seldom deviate from it but can also recommend the bacon baguettes and cake! A delightful array of books are also available to purchase for £1 so it’s rare for me to leave the cafe without a new read.
