Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful lunch here today, 16 of us ordering lots of different dishes but the staff coped admirably and with great good humour, really made us feel welcome. We had pre-ordered before our walk so only had to wait a few minutes once we arrived to...be served. Tasty, generous portions, just the job! Thoroughly recommended.More

Sunday carvery was amazing. I booked as a vegetarian in advance and had a lovely cashew and cranberry roast. Choice of 4 meats and an amazing choice of veg, perfectly cooked. It was beautiful and great value. The owner is friendly, welcoming and has great...banter. Booking again soon for my friend's birthday as it's just so good. I've had a couple of other meals here too and they've been delicious also. Can't recommend highly enough.More

I have never placed a review before but this has to be said. My partner and I have just visited The Star Inn Vogue for a meal, we have been before on a number of occasions and the food has been good, tonight however was...a completely different story, we booked a table and arrived on time, we ordered a starter to share Nacho's followed by Ocean pie & Veg and a homemade cottage pie and veg with a side of chips, the nacho's were bought to the table with the side of chips, I questioned why the chips had come out and was informed by the young waiting staff that they were not told any different, then within a minute both mains came out and again when questioned the bar staff were blamed for not putting it in separately. We eat a little of the starter then left it as the mains were going cold. The mains I will start with the cottage pie, the mince tasted like and looked like tinned, the ocean pie only had a few very small prawns under the mash not other fish, both mash potato toppings tasted like processed mash and the Veg for both mains were cauliflower and three slices of carrots which all tasted frozen not fresh. My partner and myself tried to eat a little of the mains but couldn't we finished our drinks and went to pay The bar staff asked how the meals were and I informed them we had left them as not good at all, she asked why and I explained all the above the waiter was also at the bar at the time and he nodded in agreement when I stated the potato tasted processed, the veg with frozen, the prawns were chewy with no other fish. The bar staff did offer to get the landlord but I declined stating I just wanted to pay and get out but wouldn't be back, we are part of the pubs winter trade but not anymore. I have been unable to give The Star any rating it was that bad, however I did pay as the staff need their wagesMore

Amazing food here. Local produce used. I highly recommend the liver or sausages. Been here a few times, tonight all tables were apparently booked, no option to eat outside and we were brushed off. Not a single reserved sign on any table. Went elsewhere. Shame...really, they didnt seem interested in us as a customer at all, maybe it was an off day.More

The Star Inn provides a superb Sunday Carvery. Perfectly roasted meats and potatoes, crunchy crackling and very good stuffing, Yorkshire puddings and veg.

Went to The Star with friends whilst staying at Scorrier. What a fantastic pub, very friendly and welcoming. The fish pie was the best my wife has had in restaurants ever. I had the mixed grill. Only one word to describe it . Fantastic. Excellent...beers and wines too. I wish this could be my local but it's 200 miles from home. Boo hoo.More

Went with the family and kids for a good day out at the pub and when i say it was amazing, i mean it. The service was absolutely amazing and the staff were so nice. the food was cooked to perfection and, for a moment,...i thought i was dining in Gordon Ramsay's restaurant because of how mouth watering the food was. Overall i recommend this pub to anyone who is willing to have an orgasm because of how amazing the food and service was. I actually did myself!More

I moved to St Day in May last year and visited the pub several times during my time there. Plenty of parking, massive outside space, enough space that if people visit with horses they are well accommodated. Food is fantastic, I wasn't keen on the...omelette however the roast on Sundays is a beautiful carvery and reasonably priced, you can takeaway and particular diets can be catered for if booked in advance, please contact the pub. They also house the library of the village so take a look whilst you are there!More

Comfortable, cosy, warm, village community period pub on the edge of St Day. Breakfasts, teas, lunches, dinners and special events, such as Burns night with a piper!, all available. We had a lunch of fish and chips and it was very good. Beautifully cooked. I...think I had the best seat in the house on the sofa in the bay window with the sun on my back. Reasonable prices and good service. They have a wide selection of beers and lagers including John Smiths, which my partner had not had for years. He certainly enjoyed that . They also house a community library. Definitely recommend as an enjoyabke venue which has not been spoilt by crass updatingMore

Warm and cosy pub with an interesting community library. Good selection of local ales and ciders. The service was a little unfriendly and very slow but all in all it did the job for what we needed - a warm meal on a very wet...September evening after a soaking wet bike ride. The food was quite average but filled us up and was piping hot.More
