Visited this cafe with friends on a warm but wet winter weekend, what a beautiful location overlooking the Camel Estuary and Padstow, we sat in the conservatory and enjoyed a delicious breakfast pre-walk rest before jumping on a ferry.. Lovely venue in a wonderful location,...great food delivered swiftly, by friendly and accommodating service team, thanks Blue Tomato..More
Every time we visit Cornwall, we take a trip to beautiful Rock beach and finish our dog walk with tasty food at the Blue Tomato. We (me and a big, exuberant chocolate lab!) were welcomed in the BT with smiles, by a very friendly chap....The service was excellent and so was the food, as it always is. I had the Garden Burger which was lovely. My boyfriend had the Dirty Chilli Fries. The chilli tasted insane! I’ll be having this next time….We’ve had the fries countless times. They are always delicious and you get loads. With reference to the rude, Sept Review ‘Rock Off’, the fries are NOTHING like MacDonalds fries, so please don’t let that review, put you off visiting the BT because you won’t be disappointed. As regards that review, I was actually torn between the fish n chips (£19.00) and the Garden Burger, but the only reason I had the burger was because I wanted something a bit lighter-it was nothing to do with the price. On another day, I will definitely be having the fish n chips because I know it will be the best fish n chips! We have always had a fantastic meal, whenever we’ve eaten here over the years. Side note: I love the bathroom wall paper 😀More
Came in for breakfast, service was fast, and a lovely veggie breakfast - including fried bread and two eggs, very good value too
the “12 inches of pleasure” hot chocolate drink is actually measured at 9.843 inches! will never be coming back here.
To be totally honest my decision to visit the cafe was influenced by the awesome response to a rather negative review telling the blue tomato they could “rock off”(9th September) we felt any owner/manager who defended their business and staff must have confidence in their...product! We visited, my husband, mum and myself last week while spending a few days staying near Rock, we had already had a fill of the traditional fish and chips (all delicious) during our stay and fancied something a little more healthy…. salad. The Blue Tomato had a fab variety of salads, we had the chicken, mozzarella and avocado, the goats cheese and walnut and the Greek salad with extra chips to share. Everything from the service, food and surroundings were great, we would all recommend it and will visit next time we are in the area. We all felt it delivered value for money. Thank you.More
Before i begin this, i just want to say the service was good and the staff were good also so nothing wrong on their part. We ordered chips, hot chocolate, coffees and teas with a scone. We would have ordered the fish and chips, although...we couldnt find it on the menu (strange) so we had to go up to the specials board to take a quick picture to bring back to our table, to our shock and horror we learnt that the fish and chips were £19 which was baffling, so we decided against it. The chips were just as shocking if im honest, not different to fries from mcdonalds and were £5. The teas and cofees were solid, but the hot chocolate was like wading through the marshlands of bodmin on a cold autumn evening, thick and tasteless. Scone was average. All in all, not one for the record books.More
Hi there… Thanks for your review…. Fish and Chips are not on the ‘stationary’ menu as we can only hold so much stock. Due to its popularity, once it sells out we must cross it off the menu, so it’s easier being on the specials...More
Visited the Blue Tomato twice for breakfast during our stay in the area. As always, the food, service and views were excellent. Hoping that staffing will allow them to open every day next year. Would highly recommend.
Fabulous choice of food and drinks, great staff who are friendly, doggie menu, good music, highly recommended.
My family frequently eat at this establishment when in the area, which is quite a bit as we have family in the close by. We really love The Blue Tomatoe and I am sad to be writing such a negative review, the food has always...been great and the service very attentive. But today…. Where were all the staff, waited until 9:30am and the place was closed up. Checked website, saw with own eyes - opening hours 9am until 8pm - so what went wrong? Why the inconsistency? Why the closure? Left hungry and had to forage elsewhere - disappointed not to be able to enjoy a lovely breakfast. We will be back again next summer and hope you will be open PLEASE!!More
Hi. As you quite rightly pointed out, on our website we failed to update our opening hours. Massive apologies. (Seems we did Facebook, twitter, Instagram but forgot our own website!) The Monday and Tuesday closing this year is a direct result of not enough staff....More
Delicious, quality food and excellent service. Location perfect. Would highly recommend and will be returning on our next visit to Rock!
Fabulous cafe serving large portions of excellent food. Something for everyone on the menu. Quick and friendly service and wonderful views across the Camel Estuary towards Padstow.
This cafe is an absolute jewel. The staff are really lovely, the food is fantastic and the view is stunning. A great place to start before you venture to the beach or over to Padstow on the foot ferry.
Visited for lunch today. All the staff are brilliant - so friendly and really looked after us. Food was amazing - best meal and our new favourite restaurant. Can’t wait to return. A must visit if you go to Rock!!
Good breakfast with substantial portions and friendly service. Very nice view across the beach and towards Padstow. Gets very busy so would suggest turning up early.
