Happened upon this place while looking for dining suggestions through TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did because the food was absolutely incredible. Not only that, it felt like we were dining with the family. Very comfy, cozy environment surrounded by German antiques.

My fiance and I made a reservation for dinner the night before Christmas Eve. We were greeted warmly and seated at a comfortable table surrounded by all sorts of interesting knick-knacks. After ordering coffee and tea, we were invited to explore the shop that shares the building with the restaurant. It was almost worth the visit just to browse the... More

Upon walking into Der Jaeger we were warmly greated by the owner/cook and placed at a large comfortable table. The menu is all authentic homemade German cuisine. A smokehouse and outdoor grill on the side of the building adds to the unique flavor of your chosen meal. From soup to dessert all our food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant... More

My husband and I, daughter and husband, and two friends who had eaten here before and given this restaurant rave reviews , dined here on Saturday evening. We started with an appetizer of 5 different sausages on a bed of sauerkraut accompanied by pretzel bread. Delicious Everyone ordered something different so we ordered our vegetables family style. My entrée consisted... More

My husband and I ate here for our anniversary dinner. It was an experience like no other. It's very unique-as others have said this is NOT a typical restaurant-so if you are seeking in and out -rushed service and standard food/atmosphere this will not be for you. However, if you have time and like to try new things and want... More

This is a very small, very small restaurant run by the nicest German family. The food is off the charts delicious, the hosts are warm and make you feel as if you are in their home for dinner. Delicious!!! Hard to get into for dinner, because it is so small, but well worth the attempts- We loved the food, the... More

We arrived with a starving 16 month old, looking forward to some German food. When we walked in to this strange place, we were greeted by delicious smells, only to find it that the only way to eat here was with a reservation. The place was EMPTY, with two men leaving mumbling how they'd never eat here again. The owner... More

Hello- We apologize for the inconvenience that you were not able to eat at our establishment that night. However, we are consistently telling our customers that reservations are REQUIRED. This is stressed throughout Tripadvisor, our homepage, and our Facebook page. We do not take walk ins when we have a booked night so although you may have seen emptiness at... More

This is unlike any other restaurant I've been to. It's extremely relaxed. There are only 5 tables or so. The husband and wife do all of the work themselves and the menu isn't fixed. The food was delicious. The beer was good. Our dog was allowed (outside) and happy. The gentleman came out a few times between courses to chat... More

Took my girlfriend here for our two year anniversary after hearing a few people mention how great it was - they were definitely right! The food was excellent and was so plentiful that it made it to the next day's lunch. Even more enjoyable than the food, however, was the overall atmosphere. It was a very personable eating experience, and... More

Description
Over the weekend my husband and I visited this fantastic German restaurant in the Poconos. It's part antique shop, part BBQ shack, but also has a sit-down restaurant inside with a wider variety of foods, mostly focusing on traditional German cuisine. Everything is homemade and the German hostess/owner (who also cooked some of the food) was very accommodating.
