As the pub is currently closed they are offering a reduced takeaway menu. As a valentine's treat we ordered a meal for takeaway ( eaten here many times before lockdown ) The collection from the front door was safe with social distancing , contactless payment and I was on my way 5 minutes later. Food was piping hot and well packaged . I had a 20 minutes drive to get home but the food did not require reheating as still perfectly hot. The food is exactly as served in the pub normally and to the same high standards. I would recommend anyone reading to order a takeaway . Hope to be back eating in the pub soon !

The three tuns is our local so we missed it during lockdown. Upon reopening they had a booking system to ensure everyone who wanted a table could get one and to keep staff and customers safe. We were very impressed by al the measures they had put in place to ensure social distancing could take place. We always really enjoy the food and the staff are so friendly. The children enjoy a roast at the pub and always made to feel welcome

A trip to the Three Tuns, a pretty little pub in the Kentish village of Lower Halstow, is always a treat and this visit was no exception; perhaps more so being our first visit since February. It was good to see the place thriving and doing a roaring trade is this post-lockdown world. The website advises you book in advance and I can confirm this is correct – although my partner and I were lucky enough to get a walk-in table (in the large, sunny, garden) this was clearly the exception and not something to be relied upon generally. If this had been a weekend, I don’t think we’d have been so lucky so definitely worth a call first. The pub itself was bustling and adherence to the rules around social distancing and contract tracing was good, with details taken and a one-way system in place. Both pub and garden, whilst large, had been laid out in such a way to distance patrons. We each started with a pint of Pilsner from the Whitstable Brewery – this is a really nice lager and not something you see that often, despite this being a local brewery – drinks were offered and served promptly and service was to the table. For a starter, we chose the nachos to share – I have to say, this is one of the nicer plates of nachos I’ve had in a while, with fresh chunky salsa and a good solid dollop of soured cream included. The portion, although described as ‘small’ was a great sharer and jus the right amount for us. On previous occasions, I’ve tried both the brie and wellington, both of which were also excellent and so it’s good to see this consistency continued. For a main, I went for a classic of ham, egg and chips – the ham was thick cut and fresh, the egg cooked to perfection with lovely runny yolks and the chips crispy and fresh. I’m a big fan of a simple classic, but you’d be surprised how easy it apparently is to get something like this wrong – this was a fine example and I’d definitely have it again. My partner had the Cajun chicken burger, which came as a beautiful butterflied breast in a fresh bread roll and looked lovely. Both plates finished. No dessert on this occasion – some lovely choices but too hot and sunny and a long walk ahead, so decided to demur this time. Overall service was quick and efficient though and this place is definitely worth a visit – just remember, best to book ahead!

I had steak and ale pie, which was very nice and the vegetables were cooked just as I like them. My ma had fish and chips, it all looked very nice but my ma thought her fish was very bland and only ate about a third of her fish. For dessert, we both ordered sticky toffee pudding, but we were both disappointed. First for me it tasted more like Christmas pudding, not really toffee and it was very stogey. My ma didn't like the presentation, thought it looked like a large chunk of cake and didn't even have custard in a small jug. (Admittedly menu states with ice cream). I left at least half and my ma not much less than me, when I stated this, no real response. I understand times are different and difficult at the moment, but to not even say I'll take off one dessert or some form of recognition was what has made my decision to not return again. Due to the response when I stated that our dessert wasn't very nice and the blandness of my ma's main course, my score is poor. Once we left, my ma reminded me that last time we were there (maybe a year ago) that the service wasn't good and the manager said next time we were in to ask for him as he was very helpful. Either he has left or their management isn't as good anymore, either way I won't chance again.

Our expectations were high having been before. It made our eyes water at the price of ordinary fare, eg, sausage and mash, £11.95! in a pub for lunch! Other members of my party had ham, egg and chips, The ham, one slice with "hand cooked chips", which were more like wedges and not enjoyed. I can't remember how much exactly but in the region of £10. The only consolation was the bitter.

Have never been to the Three Tuns before but what a lovely dinner we had. We specifically asked for a table away from the main eating area as we had two very elderly family members with us & we were sat in our own room which was just what we wanted. Were looked after from start to finish by the excellent staff, the food was amazing too. Excellent choose of food including specials. Hygiene was excellent. We will definitely be back & hoping they do a Sunday lunch.

We visited here on a Tuesday lunchtime last month. Chosen purely due it being dog friendly with food that suited all 4 people. We were very pleased with our visit. Our dog was made welcome rather than ‘tolerated’ and all food was very nice (I’m still dreaming of the white choc covered strawberry ice cream balls!). Great to see local produce being used and a fab range of local beers and spirts made one member of out party very happy. Will we return? - yes, it’s just a shame that you can’t reserve a dog friendly table in the bar.

We were met by Caroline shown to our table in the restaurant. Good distances were maintained and we were quickly attended to and able to make our order. We were attended to by Adam and Jane. Once again the meals were nicely cooked and we enjoyed a glass of beer and a pint of curious brew. We were not sure what to expect during Covid, but rest assured the host had done everything to make us feel safe and to provide an enjoyable evening out. Highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant for a well earned meal out. Everything was Covid compliant . Starter was lovely, but I ordered fillet steak which was over cooked and the size of a child’s fist. I didn’t want to complain as it was our first time out for a very long time. The rest of the meal was fine although the Wine was quite pricey.

All good, bar the poor roast beef. Starters good, pudding good, service good, wine good, veg good, value good. But: roast beef inedible. Couldn’t get my knife through it, so tough, gristly and fatty. It was, strangely, undercooked. Rare beef is fine - I like it rare, but this was pale, flabby and tasted odd. I’ve cooked enough joints of beef to know how beef ought to be, and this wasn’t right. We did highlight this and there was a small adjustment to the bill. We could perhaps have done without the wait staff disagreeing with us about how beef should be cooked/the chef’s experience/how nobody else had an issue. We had an issue, and we highlighted it; that should have been an end to it. Didn’t appreciate the waitress insinuating that we were somehow wrong when we quietly said that we weren’t too happy. We wanted to love this and to give it a good review. In all other respects this was a good meal. But, that beef was poorly done, and we don’t need to be told we are wrong when we say so.

When we arrived at this lovely old pub we were greeted very warmly at the door with hand sanitizer and had the distancing arrangements explained to us, then we were taken to a lovely outside table on the patio, with a parasol, a good distance away from the rest. We could see the Covid precautions were being taken really seriously with regular thorough cleaning and we felt very safe. The food was superb - a perfect baked camembert for me, an excellent rib eye steak, then creamed rice with rhubarb compote. I didn't quite intend to go for three courses, but the lovely menu led me astray. Service was brilliant and the staff were all so welcoming and friendly and there was a really good atmosphere. The icing on the cake was the Eat out to help out discount, but even without that it would have been well worth it. Our first step back towards normality couldn't have been any better.

My husband and I recently moved to the area. We visited Three Tuns on a warm Friday evening. We booked a table in the garden (booking is now mandatory). We were told to sanitise our hands as soon as we arrived, were shown where amenities were then seated at our table. I’m a vegetarian and have often found it hard in Kent to get decent vegetarian pub grub but this place did not disappoint! Absolutely sublime and a fantastic selection even with a reduced menu. At the end of our evening the staff ordered a taxi for us too. Will definitely be making this my new local!

Visited again for the first time in 2 years + due to personal health issues. We were made extremely welcome by Carol who made us feel as if we’d only been in a few days ago. Carol & Chris had measured the doors to ensure my, very wide, wheelchair got get in, which fortunately it did, by a hairsbreadth. We started with Garlic bread, Baked Camembert and two Haloumi fries with sweet chilli dip. All excellent quality & quantity. For mains two of us had the Seafood Board whilst the other two had Steak & Ale pie. Again great portions. The seafood board had cockles, fish finger, smoked salmon, king prawns, and my favourite, Scotch egg. The meat in the steak & ale pie was extremely plentiful and very tender. I had three scoops of different ice cream, my wife & our friend had a rice pudding each whilst the other had Affogato. The bill was extremely reasonable, whilst the service was excellent. “Plain Jane” was totally unobtrusive but appeared at exactly the right moment when needed. Thanks Carol and Chris for making Sues birthday meal very enjoyable and us all very welcome. Will we be visiting again ... he’ll yes.

Visited with my son for an early evening dinner. Hoisin duck parcels from the specials board for starters then chicken ceaser salad for him and prawn and smoked salmon salad for me. Prawns and salmon came with mixed salad leaves, tomato and cucumber and was beautiful. Finished with lovely deserts. Service also excellent.

Just had a great lunch time meal here. Staff were absolutely amazing and made sure our glasses were filled up even though we sat in the bar area. The food was absolutely fantastic with great recommendations from the staff. The beef brisket wellington is definitely a must have off the menu. You can taste the freshness in the ingredients used. Everything we had was cooked to perfection. Great selection of drinks and a perfect setting for a relaxed, chilled meal. We will definitely be back. Many thanks to Ben, all the staff and chefs for you’re great service and superb food today!
