Great cafe in a historic brownstone for a sit down hearty lunch with easy turnpike access. Owners have retained many elements of the original bank building like the vault and safety deposit boxes. Great value lunch specials like all you can eat Chicken pot pie, which eats more like chicken and dumplings. To the more elegant Chicken Chemise. Both are... More

The Brownstone is a wonderful neighborhood place with fantastic food. I've never had a neutral meal there- everything is great. Their pie is fantastic!

Have been told this is the place for the best business lunch in Middletown PA, historic and delicious. Was having a VIP meet and greet luncheon with new friends/professional colleagues. Waitress apologized for ignoring us and my tuna sandwich came on stale bread which I asked beforehand to be toasted if the bread wasn't fresh...Didn't want to make a scene... More

This is one of the few places where I feel you can get real home cooking...but tonight was a dissappointment. We ate upstairs...never again..too noisy and lots of people with not enough servers. Banging dishes into bins and rushing around....in addition,I ordered the turkey with mashed potatoes and would have liked more gravy..but our server was so stressed...she never came... More

Beautiful building was a bank now a restaurant. Employees are so nice the food is excellent. Nice change from the regular restaurant setting interesting place to see it is clean and set up is good. Usually a line of people on a Sunday because it is a favorite of people all around.

The Brownstone is great for a casual business lunch. Good, homecokmed food that is reasonably priced. And there is something for everyone. they also have great daily specials. It can get a little loud if they are busy and it can get packed some days so arriving at 11:45 for lunch is a good idea.

Large portions, huge menu, Prices are reasonable. The locals also appear to love it. It was a Friday night and it was packed. Couldn't try dessert because the meal was so large.

For starters, imagine a bank from Harry Potter being merged with a nice diner; it's like a strange dream after having eaten something exotic. Our main courses, crab cakes and macaroni and cheese with lobster, were excellent and very substantial portions. The side dishes were placeholders, adequate. There were a lot of senior diners, a clue that it's a good... More

We LOVE this restaurant, and have never had a bad meal here in the past 15 years. Excellent service, friendly wait staff, very accommodating for large parties. Breakfast is one of the best in the area. Dinner specials daily. Family friendly prices.

Thank Cathy N
